    Lack of black Gardai.

Ever heard the term "correlation does not equal causation"?

We need Sikh gardai armed with kirpans. Although I believe the gards have a ban on beards in place.

There was a black guard who used to present Garda Patrol in the 80's, well to be specific he was mixed race.

No beards, visible tattoos or grotesque jewellery allowed. Which rules out a career in the Gardai for those identikit 'I work in a barber' lads at any point.

    Spare us another ****ing policy!!!

I literally cannot take another one!

In response to the OP I've never seen a Black Garda

    I have seen:
    Asian
    White
    Hispanic

    I've not seen:
    Black
    Middle Eastern
    Far East
Inuit (Would love to see Inuit Garda, I'd say they take no sh*t.)

Do you mean someone from Spain (who would be white) or hispanic in the US sense of the word, non white from Latin America?

People need to worry about the Guards getting their house in order first. Like not falsifying breath tests, accusing whistle-blowers of child molestation and being corrupt to the bone. Then we can all worry about diversity..

Very true. Lot of reform required. Pat kenny show currently discussing this

There used to be a Chinese cop in Cork City, young lads in Barrack St used to give him dog's abuse.

No any guards I've come across have been Irish personally.

    Joking.

I've seen an Asian guard and I know a Lithuanian (by birth) guard but he's as Irish as me so that doesn't count

What's the difference between these two? Genuine question.

In the UK, "Asian" often refers to the Indian/Pakistani region, whereas here in Ireland "Asian" usually means Chinese/Japanese/Korean region.

To be fair, the accusations against Maurice McCabe didn't appear out of thin air. The story around it appearing on a Tusla file is suspicious AF, but there is an actual person behind the claims of inappropriate conduct against Garda McCabe, it wasn't just made up.

The first black Gardai joined in the mid 80's, one male and one female. They had the same surname but were not related. The female Garda was stationed in Pearse St and I think he was in Store St.

Any evidence to back that claim?
They came up with the term "Romanian knacks".

i believe that is the "superknack" you are referring to

mixed marriage between Roma and Irish Traveler families

Surely Kilnaskully mined the potential hilarity of the scenario? They had a Filipino Priest named Philip Eno on it, they got hours out of that one.

And the same person is allegedly known to have made false allegations against another man as well.

No, they were referring to Roma, not Travellers.

Why is it a Black Maria instead of a Navy Maria anyway?

Are the numbers apply for the guards that high? I've never seen a black guard but I have seen Asian and eastern European ones.
