Id agree if it was some kind of important sporting event that gets televised etc.

An amateur football match - not so much.

There was an amateur football match on last Sunday. I believe it was televised.

Entirely the bride's fault tbh. The threat of 'whineline' was all hers.

See that's the thing it's only your opinion which you have been very strident about but again only your opinion. In my opinion you got your ass handed to you several times.

If I was working at the hotel, I'd stick out a place setting for Joe Duffy.

What about the extra costs man involved? Isn't that what the bride to be was whinging about? Her perceived loss of money.

Personally I would let the " friends " who are cancelling go jump , would ask the hotel to plate up the no shows dinners . Would wrap them in tin foil and bring to a homeless shelter or womens shelter in the area . And lwhoosh my dress and dance

I wonder how many guests will decide to goto the match, and how many will decide to not show up?

The bride was simply looking for a hotel to compromise because some guests choose gaa over a wedding. Shock horror! Get a grip guys - it's not like she's from Leitrim. must be a bit embarrassing though

We are a small little nation.

And sometimes with radio show content like this, this really gets highlighted.

Why stop at the man himself - she has enough space for the whole crew.

Subject to the final number still being over 130, if I understand it correctly?

Yeah, was thinking that after. Would have to think they were on the 130 minimum for this to have become the issue it clearly did.

And did so by trying to publicly humiliate them into it, after threatening them. There's nothing 'simply' about it.

She signed a contract, didn't want to abide by it, tried to publicly shame the other party over the contract. Why shouldn't there be criticism?

"I'll be blasting this place tomorrow on the national airwaves"
"I could buy this hotel in the morning" - that was more a Celtic Tiger era one
"Did you need a college degree to get your job?"

Probably the top three sneers I heard when I worked in hotel reception. Over a fortnight you'd probably get all three

Ye like the poster a few pages, hotels get Joe Duffy thrown at them every week, nobody takes any notice

seriously "a tramp" have you forked out for a wedding these days this is obviously a lot of money to this person and to the other 11 other twats who thanked you for this post get a life and see if any of you could afford to drop 2 grand down the back of a sofa.

Oh noooooo you called me a twat.

I didn't call her a tramp because of the wedding fiasco. I called her a lying tramp because she thought she could lie her way to a resolution and thankfully the hotel called her bluff.

I'd watch this girl very closely. If there is any drink brought into the premises and drank under the table or any of that messing, I'd be making sure she foots the bill.

    What a clown.

I'd be bringing sandwiches with me if I was going to that wedding. You can be sure the kitchen staff will be getting creative with some of the food.

For god's sake nobody order the cream of mushroom soup.

Did you miss the whole bit about where she basically tried to blackmail the hotel with lies about having connections with Liveline?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 7,365 ✭✭✭Cork Lass

The sad thing about all of this is that she has single handily ruined what should be one of the best days of her life. She can't possibly be looking forward to her wedding now.

Okay Ive read the thread and all the articles and I still dont get it, how did they make the leap to actually getting on Liveline? She sounded like she didnt want to do it, did the hotel arrange it?

Tbh I know she's in the wrong but if I was the owner of that hotel and I heard my manager humiliating a guest no matter how much of a muppet on national radio I mightn't be too happy...

The comment around 'Liveline should not be used for leverage' gave me a giggle.

This is what I was thinking too.

It's one thing to bluff about calling Liveline in the hope that you get what you're looking for...but when the bluff didn't work, why go through with it? Who pushed it through?

Maybe she really did think that her complaint was legitimate, which makes me think it likely wasn't about gifts either. I'd like to know how that €2000 was arrived at.

Safe to say this incident won't be mentioned in jest during any of the speeches.

Exactly. Lot of proper c**ts posting on this thread. The woman was in the wrong, got exposed nationally and admitted as much. But the amount of gloating and delight in here when she's gone and ruined a day she's dreamt about most of her life (probably) is pretty sad.

Oh god cringing so hard after listening to that clip. Don't think she expected it to escalate as far as it did. Hotel dealt with that very professionally. I love how he offered to cancel and reschedule her wedding, a very generous offer but completely called her bluff.
I'd say she was just pure stressed out and was a bit of a nightmare so close to the big day and just didn't expect to be called out on it
