    Need a little advice
Doing the Mineral Supplements post Mating, generally give Vit drench 2 weeks pre mating & was intending doing same this year.
Reading drench it doesn't give advice on follow up, was thinking 4-6 weeks after first dose, would that be suffice, or should I go sooner?

Whatever mineral you use it has to say it's for ewes and it has to say how long it lasts...ie if it states that it lasts 2 weeks, you have to ensure that you have given it enough times to cover the eight weeks after ram turnout, also record each time you give it in your sheep welfare record book. so if it doesn't state how long it lasts it won't be accepted.
On a practical level, I always reckon that there's only enough mins and vits in those doses to last two or three weeks.
You should really check it out with someone qualified as it's worth a good bit of money

gave animax C and SE/I to all the ewes about 3 weeks before rams.

gave the ewe lambs sheep boost last week and will give them another shot when letting off rams .. about 4 weeks time

Is 'Sheep Boost' a mineral drench?....how does it differ to likes of Bovithrive or Cobalt + B 12 drench?

Gavethem a bolus called zincosel that we got from vet

Growvite is the best drench there is imo with high levels of all the major trace elements. Most of the others are over priced and made from same company but have a different sticker on the front it

The scanning part has to be completed by 24th of feb so itll be at least a few months after the forms are sent in before the money is given out

Maybe but they've completed the book audit already, it's just a sample. Got audited here over month ago

Was the scanning for this year not done last February.

Closing date for applications was 31st January 2017. Therefore the scanning measure for the first application year would be carried out for most between November 2017 and February 2018 depending on lambing time.

I don't think a scanning receipt issued prior to 31st January 2017 would be accepted for this years scheme as farmers weren't informed whether they'd been accepted into the scheme and given their reference numbers until February/March 2017.

Ya the scanning receipt we got was for the 3rd of Feb. The dept rang to see see if we had completed scanning for the year before asking for the book to be sent in

So are the Dept accepting that Feb 3rd 2017 scan for your first year in Scheme?....I was also under the impression that for those ( me included) who chose scanning as an option could only use the scan for 2018 lambing season to count for the first year of the scheme.

To my knowledge the scheme officially started on a date on February. If you scanned after that date in 2017 it can be included

    Yup

If you scanned before the start of the scheme ya had to wait till the '18 season

So are you hoping to be paid earlier than people who have to wait till 2018 scan?

Haven't heard of dept ringing anybody about scanning, have heard of letters sent out for books for the early year measures completed at this stage and heard of no inspection taking place yet. At the local meetings in the spring the girl giving the talk stated that scanning and other measures were to be carried out after application date for 2017 onwards and not for 2016 lambing and when all paperwork is cleared then payment would issue.
