That dil statement/mini autobiography is just an attempt to crowbar her way into the controversy.

It's disgusting how the likes of her and donohue are piling in to attempt to bully Hook off the air.

While George is never one for tact, you can't say that he was wrong in his premis.

Going to a strangers room the first time you meet them is nothing but stupid.
Yes, let's not blame the victim of rape (or any crime) but her actions put her in a dangerous position for which she needs to take responsibility.

Dill is gone...that's so SAD ( said in Fr Ted sarcastic tone)
I'll miss George if he goes, a ton of common sense is a world that is pc mad.

It's not stupid, it has higher risk but it's far from stupid.
99.99% of people are not sick monsters so it's far from stupid.

Dil is not going to do Victim Village in protest this weekend.

    http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/news/victim-blaming-is-unacceptable-newstalk-host-wont-broadcast-show-in-protest-at-george-hook-comments-36133430.html

The 3 people that listen to it will be devastated I'm sure.

Hook suspended pending investigation. The non-story rolls on.

I hope Ciara Kelly in particular is taking a long hard look in the mirror this morning. Her role in this has been particularly shameful. With "friends" like her, who needs enemies.

Does this mean that Dil is back... And Ruth Coppinger ... oh ffs.

    What did she do?

Just in case Tesco get too comfortable up there on the moral high ground..

    https://www.theguardian.com/business/2017/mar/27/tesco-and-serious-office-within-days-of-deal-over-accounting
The Serious Fraud Office and Tesco are within days of announcing a settlement that could mean Britain’s biggest supermarket chain will pay a multimillion-pound fine over an accounting scandal.

Under the deferred prosecution agreement (DPA), Tesco would pay a penalty that could be well over £100m and agree to other conditions in return for avoiding formal prosecution for overstating its profits.

As was said above, are these really the people we want to be looking for to set the moral standards for society?

These companies and their PC agendas are going to do more damage to them than good. As of this morning, Newstalk is gone from my preset stations in the car & I will no longer be giving a single cent to Tesco or any hotels owned by Dalata.

The faux outrage from the liberal Nazis wins again. I'm done with newstalk.

I'm still at a loss as to how this has got so much traction. At the time when I was listening to it, I cringed and thought he shouldn't have said it. I completely understand though what he was trying to say, he should have worded it differently mind. He wasn't saying rape was ok, I don't understand how anyone could think he said that. It was about personal responsibility. Would there have been the outrage had he been talking about a young fella who'd got wasted and something happen to him? Not a chance.

I won't be listening to Newstalk any more after this

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,164 ✭✭✭redlead

Another victory for liberal fascism. I'm very disappointed that newstalk gave in to the mock outrage brewed up by other media outlets. As a daily newstalk listener, I won't be tuning in anymore.

So our opinion leaders now are Fintan the tool, Una delally and Ruth Coppinger and her fellow clowns.
How much of the population do they represent?
Seems like the management of NewsTalk are in sympathy.
Who are they? What do they stand for? I think we now know.
That cowardly traitor Donoghue looks like he will get a promotion.
People have to stand up to these idiots.

Is Michael Graham usually on Fridays? I hope he's more cutting on the issue than he was last Tuesday now that Hook is suspended.

If Hook gets the sack I'm sure they'll end the Graham contributions too. He should go out in a blaze of glory.

Newstalk should be ashamed of themselves.

Hook apologised and yet days later they suspend him!
As a female I didn't get offended by what he said. I have enough sense to know what he meant and that he unfortunately phrased it wrong.

Ashamed to be a female today

It was the actions of Dalata and Tesco rather than them. Money talks.

Don't be. The majority of men and women out there agree with you. Women didn't do this, an agenda led media did. Sex has nothing for to do with it.

So now we know the benchmark of outrage to get someone removed from the airwaves.

    Who's next?

It was always gonna happen sooner or later the thing has just snowballed out of control in the last few days.

There's a lot of people high fiving today I bet.

Question is now though - is Hook being taken off air enough for the perpetually offended?

I'd be pretty sure he's gone for good. Can't see him coming back.

I wonder about the double standards of tesco. Do they advertise in the likes of the racist Mail and Sun? If so, then they are being very hypocritical.

"hey guys, vile racism and incitement to violence against brown people is fine, but a pensioners badly worded comments on social responsibility is a line we wont cross"
