    Oh the old "gay=paedophile" nonsense.

Haven't heard that rubbish in a while.

It would be just as big a mistake to assume A equals B... as it would to assume A means impossible to be B though.

In this case its probably more of an ephebian thing though.

Its creepy... cos the guy is 30 and styled like a teenager. In an alternate universe where Fry was straight and with a 30yo woman styled like a teenager it would still be creepy.

I always thought Sandra Bullock and Jesse James were a weird one.

    Her - clean-cut, girl-next-door, American's sweetheart actor.
Him - tatooed, twice divorced, one ex-wife porn star.

Didn't think it'd last. But surprised at it ever happening in the first place.

Emmanuel Macron and Brigitte for example. But I have no idea if one or other or both of them is gay or straight. I have my thoughts though. Maybe it's a "beard" thing, look it up on Urban Dictionary. :P

You would think that if either of them were trying to hide their sexuality, they would have chosen a less conspicuous partner than someone 30 years older/younger than them.

I always found Billy Corgan and Jessica Simpson an unlikely pairing. More power to them.

yes, but theres that ''double whammy discrimination'' they have to face.

not only are they gay, but theres an age gap between them. these are two things society can have a problem with, so theres an extra burden in gaining acceptance,if they're looking for it.

I don't think "society" has a problem with it. "Society" voted for gay marriage and there are lots of pride marches that pass without incident. I think some idiots have a problem with it. I thought the way people were talking he was a schoolboy or something. He's a 30 year old man FFS.

Macron getting together with his wife when he was 16 and she 39 and his teacher, Jimmy Saville et al or the countless singers and actors "dating" underage girls back in the 70s ... now THAT'S CREEPY .....

Heard this one on a podcast recently .... will never hear Stairway to Heaven in quite the same way again ....

Jimmy Page Dated a 14-year-old Girl While He Was in Led Zeppelin

THE BACKSTORY: Lori Maddox was a part of the Los Angeles groupie scene beginning in the early 1970s. According to Maddox, Page became infatuated with her and had a roadie bring Maddox up to his suite at the L.A. Hyatt House. "[He was] wearing this hat over his eyes and holding a cane," she remembered. "He looked just like a gangster. It was magnificent." The pair went on to have a torrid affair over the next few years.

THE TRUTH: Maddox was, amazingly, just 14 when she met Page, though Page did what he could to keep the relationship hidden. Even in the swingin' Seventies this kind of thing could put you in jail. But with no TMZ or Us Weekly, Page got away with it. He eventually dumped Maddox for the of-legal-age Bebe Buell.

Yeah, Jimmy Page was a creepy old bastard back then and to this day. That he wasn't hauled over the coals for having sex with girls barely in their teens is a head scratcher for me. That his peers don't seem to have ostracised him for what they surely knew what was going on says much. David Bowie was another with an eye for pubescent girls.

Not just Bowie. There was quite the theme with musicians and underage girls. Marvin Gaye another. The Tyler bloke from Aerosmith. Jerry Lee Lewis.

And it wasn't a case of these girls looking older and making a mistake which might be understandable, they looked like young girls barely in their teens.

Don't get me wrong if I was a rock god I'd likely have a rotisserie of assorted floozies and dolly birds on the go, with a side order of monkey gland extract and viagra. And yep they'd be younger than me for the most part, but they would look like and be adult bloody women well beyond the age of consent. Some drug addled bloke having sex with a 14 year old girl should be hung up by the goolies in my humble. Hell, I think it creepy where guys go for women who look too young. *shudder*

George and Amal Clooney. It's not the 15 year age gap but that fact that's she's a barrister who has represented some high profile names like Julian Assange and a former prime minister of Ukraine. Interesting pair for sure.

    To quote Frankie Boyle

"With his movie star looks, his multi million dollar bank account and now 2 adorable baby twins, the only way George Clooney could be more attractive to women, would be if his cock tasted of prosecco":D

To be fair to the Beatles track, McCartney who wrote it was 19 at the time. Not exactly creepy. IIRC his girlfriend of the time was 17(as was mine at his age). If he had written the same song when he was 35 or 45 then...
-- and the Rolling Stones' "Stray Cat Blues" even lays out a defense of sex with 15-year-old groupies:

I can see that you're fifteen years old
No I don't want your ID
You look so restless and you're so far from home
    But it's no hanging matter
    It's no capital crime
Yeah that's high on the creepy count alright. Especially the bit about I can see you're 15.
The Police song "Don't Stand So Close to Me" is about an affair between a student and her teacher (Sting, a former English teacher, said in a 1981 interview: "I'd done teaching practice at secondary schools and been through the business of having 15-year-old girls fancying me – and me really fancying them! How I kept my hands off them I don't know.")
Though he did. Certain others wouldn't have been so restrained it seems. He would have been pretty young himself at the time too. 20-21? at a guess.
    Obviously, perspectives have shifted.
They have, or at least there is more of a beady eye on such things. The perspectives themselves - outside of some bible thumpers in 1950's America - haven't shifted that much.

Consider one such bible thumper Jerry Lee Lewis. His marriage to his child bride of 13(and cousin. Yeehah, play them banjos boy) essentially ended his career. Chuck Berry ended up in gaol when he fell foul of the US Mann act when he moved an underage girl across state lines(when he was well in his thirties), so he had some creep factor on board. And that killed his career too. Even Elvis' relationship with Priscilla while all above board and conducted to a near old fashioned degree was commented upon because of her age. Bowie and Page and Gaye all took great pains to hide their underage lovers from public view, because they well knew how it would have looked. They could just get away with it more back then. With iPhones and such today they couldn't, or it would be far more difficult.

So yes we may frown a little more on age gap relationships in general(rise in feminism and more awareness of sexual exploitation?), but those are relationships of actual adults(if a 22 year old wants to shag a 60 year old good luck to them). However for a long time we have frowned upon grown men having sexual relations with underage girls.

The law is to protect kids having sex with each other from prosecution. It wasn't to protect middle aged men preying on teenagers.

I know he has been mentioned previously but Hefner is 91, and his wife is 31, if that's not a strange one then I don't know what is.

I can't think of any reason she is with him other than money but still I suppose she's earning whatever she will get watching him load up on a few blue pills to get his prehistoric middle leg ready for action.

I wonder how you define "strange relationship"?

According to friends I've only had strange relationships (with completely unsuitable men, as they told me), never a "normal" one.
I consider them perfectly normal to me because I like strange, quirky and fun as opposed to normal and utterly boring for the rest of your life and such like.
And I always liked older men.

As for rock stars and their underage lovers:
When I was 15 I've been at a Jimi Hendrix concert (yeah, I know, I'm that vintage). After the concert me and my other two 15 year old friends rushed to the hotel where Jimi and his bandmates stayed, because we were determined to be groupies. As you do, at that age.

To my deepest regret Jimi didn't even look at me, but at least I've got two autographs of the other ones (Noel Redding, forgot the other name - still have them :)).
    We toddled home, utterly disappointed.

Underage girls or very young women are not always victims of sleazy old men. They do like the challenge and can follow them actively.
And besides, lust and love has strange ways anyway, by nature.

I wouldn't judge any relationship as long as it is consensual.

Most probably not, but there's no point in criminalizing them for it either.

Oh sure, young girls can be just as sexual as young boys, but in my humble its the adult's job to leave it as a one way thing. Take it as a complement and go back to the rock star hotel with the nubile twenty five year old(s). Plus these girls mentioned above looked like girls. I don't mean young women who look older and a man might think they're of age, I just can't understand how any adult bloke could get off on the ones who look like 14 year olds. .
I wouldn't judge any relationship as long as it is consensual.
Neither would I C. However consent requires the ability and maturity to consent. In my humble a 14 year old just isn't on the same level as a 30 year old.

Cool story going to a Hendrix gig though. :) When I was a kid I knew a bloke who had been at a Hendrix gig(IIRC there were others on the bill) in London, when he was visiting Irish relatives in the place on school holidays. Anyway who does he bump into only John Lennon. Apparently to his young Irish eyes he looked like a space alien in his gear. And apparently a very nice bloke. They had a chat and Lennon told him his family were Irish too and was keen to hear from him what groups and singers he and his mates were listening to. Gave him a cigarette too. The corrupter of youth that he was. :D McCartney was also there but didn't speak to him beyond a friendly hello. Down the years I've met a few people who either were like yourself fans on the ground, or people in the biz and what surprises me is how accessible many of those "icons" were back then. Even when someone like Lennon moved to New York the chances of bumping into him walking through Central Park, or shopping for the papers and his gauloises ciggies was quite high. Before the whole PR and distance we have today, where fans are generally kept at a much greater distance. I suppose things like poor oul John being gunned down by a nutter was one of the things that changed that.
