Just after giving into the hype and purchased "the fight". I recon Mcgregor should take a leaf out of Floyds book and go on the run for 12 rounds and stink the place out of it!

It would be a fitting finale for Floyd for this stunt.

I think Mcgregor is too "macho" to do this, but I recon he should go on the back foot and force Floyd to come forward looking for him.

The article was a hatchet piece by a "journalist" who had a public falling out with Team McGregor when Conor refused him access.

Mind you, the rubbish he wrote was no different than I hear from most "clowns" in here.

Here's a proper article on the REAL Conor:

Are you linking to an article that you yourself wrote and have self endorsed ? The megalomania has spread to his disciples it seems.

While you admittedly are something of a wordsmith and have a flair for hyperbolic diction, the veil slips quite obviously by the end of the piece.
You've also posted this in After hours and the MMA forum.

Manipulating the narrative site wide like some sort of discourse police.

The quoted article from the independent is a refreshing erudite Daffodil blossoming from the manure pile that is contemporary tattooed Eire and the response from the gallery ( resplendent with their boorish behaviour and low rent accoutrements ) is indicative of generation me's reticence to engage in meaningful debate .

They ran out of real fuel for this train a long way back down the track... now they're just desperately throwing in anything they think will burn! :p

Well, for a fight that is seemingly not up to the standards that boxing fans would appreciate (from a purist's point of view at least) you sure are all paying it a hell of a lot of attention. Over 5700 posts on this thread now! Lets take a quick look at who have been the top posters on it, to see if it's all just blow ins like myself:

    Who-_Posted.png

Nope!! As can be clearly seen, many of those that have been whinging the loudest about how this "farce" is all just a money grab and how they apparently can't wait for it all to be over (so they can have their happy little forum back) are actually some of those responsible for posting most on this thread, running up many thousands of posts between them in fact...... and all about a fight they apparently have no interest in and feel is an insult to the sport.

Meanwhile............ Miguel Cotto is fighting for the WBO junior middleweight title tonight and it's not even been mentioned on this forum. Oh I know, since Cotto lost to Canelo he's lost his shine but it still should be of more interest to the so called purists than a money grab, right? But yet....... radio silence.

Hell, even the GGG v Canelo thread only has 180 posts on it, in total! Even though it's a purists wet dream. The so called "Fight of the Century".

You all try and impress one an another by sneering at the Mayweather - McGregor fight (and indeed mma fans) denouncing it at every turn but lets face it: this fight has interested you and excited you all like no other fight has done in a long damn time. The evidence for that is clear. You hate yourselves for it, but you know it's true.

To be fair Pete 90% of my posts have been about odds. I admit I got drawn into the bating once or twice but only after a few drinks!

I am not even a Mayweather fan. I think he is a scumbag and a negative fighting/ avoiding/ cherry picking opportunist. I blame him for this farce of a fight a lot more than I do Conor. I happen to believe in his prime at lightweight-welterweight he would have been beaten easily by Sugar Ray Leonard, Duran, Hearns, Sweatpea Whittaker, Chavez amongst others but he is still an elite level boxer.

Listen if McGregor wins as unlikely as that is i will admit he does a great job and actually declare him a great boxer and genius!

Good old Pistol Pete! Reliable as usual...

Of all the trigger-happys around here, your posts are the one's I'm going to be most sad not to be reading anymore, once this thing is done and dusted and consigned to the history books. Even more so, than that comedian Wonder!! :p

If you're going to do some research, why don't you have a look at what I said in one of my very first posts on this thread...!?

I'll paraphrase it for you: "The build-up to this thing could be very entertaining... but I might give the fight itself a miss!" ;)

I'm having a great laugh at this circus... It's comedy gold from start to finish!! :D

And true to my word, I will NOT be purchasing this fight. Not out of protest, or anything like that... just because the fight itself is really irrelevant. It will be one of the biggest anti-climax events in history! (Floyd has previous on that front)

Plenty of people enjoy a good freak-show... it doesn't mean they are taking it serious as a sporting contest. Halloween is coming up soon... there is another freak-fest that always peaks my interest. All just a bit of fun, at the end of the day! Doesn't mean I believe in ghosts... A bit like how I don't believe in fake boxers! :P

The real action, is outside the ring, for this fight... the reverse is true for the Canelo V GGG fight!! ;)

Absolutely clueless. 90% of the posts from actual regulars in this forum are putting casual idiots back in their place.

Cotto has been as inactive nearly the same length as Floyd. Cotto is an all time great but he was well past it when he fought Cinnamon never mind now. He's fighting a brute who has a live chance if the layoff has hurt Cotto which it well could have considering he's been in many wars but there's rightly very little interest even if Kamegai has had some decent fights.

What are the consequences if, as is very possible, Conor McGregor gets seriously injured in the fight?

I can imagine the authorities won't take it lightly.

It should be stopped by the ref or the corner before it gets that far(hopefully)

I was gonna mention Cotto v Kamegai but it seems to me a lot of people on here just wouldn't be interested. I'll be watching it and I hope it finishes before MW v Mc. I don't think it's gonna be easy for Miguel. He hasn't fought in two years and Kamegai is a limited but tough sob. As I wrote the other day. All I see on the GGG/Alvarez thread is people talking sensibly.

Actually I've read a few times now that the fight of the weekend, competitively speaking, will be Rios v Vargas on that card.

    Enjoy the fight.

Its a boxing match, hes getting well paid for taking the risk, Conor will have taken much worse in the MMA ring. And as said previously, its up to the Referee and his corner to protect him, if things get too heavy.

Come on man. Floyd has seen and done it all. Having someone shout and roar in his face does nothing to him. If there was ever someone to compare McGregor to when it comes to dedication and focus, it's Floyd.

    Floyd was laughing at him.

You can say he was laughing but it looked forced, certainly didn't look to be enjoying himself (normally associated with laughing) ......from 20.30 you can hear the audio of the face off in this video.....how many of Floyds previous competitors could stare him in the face and say I'll kill you stone dead and he knows it to be the truth himself ......that's got to come into play somewhere, he was not enjoying this

Utter nonsense.. kill you stone dead? In the dark alleyway, yeh?

Floyd's laughing because this isn't some dark alleyway scrap. It's Floyd's stage where he's getting paid an obscene amount of money to show up and show up a complete novice..

I'm only responding to the quote that Mayweather was super confident here, he wasn't he just wasn't ......compare that faceoff body language to the one at the first presser of the 'world tour' ........very different

course it could be he's just done with all this and wants to get on with it, or not depending on your point of view
