Is Gervonta Davis really as good as the odds make him sound?

Ok first thing ,i'm a mcgregor fan ok

The way i see it ( at least in my head )

Mcgregor is used to being hit by 4oz and 8oz might feel like pillows to him , im not sure

He won't come out as a traditional boxer ( cause he's not ) he'll come out with all weird stances and try pin mayweather in a corner and unload on him , intensity might play a key componenent here , mayweather used to guys who protect against being hit , mcgregor may just try absorb that ( we'll see how long it lasts ) and just smother mayweather , hoping to catch him with a sweet left in all the mayhem , i honestly thing alot of people are sleeping on conor , all the purists etc conor aint got no chance etc , all it takes is 1 shot

I'm hoping for mcgregor to flatten him ( it could happen , father time , fatigue )

But also mayweather may just run and pick shots and frustrate conor

Either way he wins big $

I think that after the first minute or so, he might revert to the "sleeping stance".

i.e. lying on the flat of his back in the middle of the ring while the room swirls around him

lol you should have stopped at "sleeping stance" fairly obvious what you meant :pac:

Right folks, time for me to bow out and hit the hay for the night, looking forward to watching it in the morning. I am going to completely change my pick and say McGregor's all out attack overwhelms the oul fella and gets him out of there in two..........or not.

Mayweather within 5 is still my gut feeling, hoping the undercard is decent for competitiveness anyway.

I am slightly surprised the fear of missing out didn't kick in at all, guess it goes to show even in my mind I can't convince myself it is any more then a novelty act.

Enjoy to anyone staying up for it and we can all still be friends tomorrow! :)

Would you not be just happy with the result and not looking for excuses...?

He doesn't have much experience with using the double jab technique to measure distance so I think that he will use a wider stance to judge the distance and throw some uncertainty at Floyd.

Yeah I was thinking he will stick to what he knows to some degree but it will interesting how that will play out in a boxing match. I'd say he's going to leave himself wide open and with his lack of head movement he could be eating a lot of leather. I think he's banking on Floyds shots not being able to hurt him and he will be willing to take a couple in order to land that big shot.

I think a lot of professional athletes, even those coming from similar sports such as MMA, can often be very surprised at the levels of fitness and stamina required to go round after round in a boxing ring. I think McGregor's age advantage is negated by his lack of boxing fitness, which will become obvious very early.

He hasn't even got MMA fitness.

I had to call sky up. They said that 1st hr was just free. But I explained that I had booked it a week ago. I had to go into my email and give them the full details (I am watching at a relatives house so they forward d me the email when I booked it), so the sky guy just quickly said he would resend the signal to the box, and it came back. He was in a rush to end the call so probably same happening to lots. Hopefully no more interruptions. Come on Conor!!

Watching prelims here. As someone who watches MMA, I don't think I watched a full boxing card before. And no wonder, this presentation is absolutely horrible. It's no surprise MMA has taken over from Boxing in popularity.

Boxing really needs to learn from UFC on how to present entire shows but given the emphasis on the main eventers who control the show that's unlikely.

    This is really dire.

Have always been a fan of boxing, but it dorsnt compare to MMA now, and especially the UFC. Boxing became too complex with too many weight classes, too many organisations, multiple champions in them, and same person being champion in different promotions. UFC nailed their business model, and show the personalities of their maverick fighters. Dana White is a genius promoter, he appeals to the normal average punter fffing and blinding, wearing jeans any tshirt, always giving straight answers. At every big monthly event there is usually at least 2 big world title fights, where either fighter has as good of chance to win. Even when Conor fights, he is never a big favourite to rob, he has mostly been the underdog. If he wins tonight boxing will be in a lot more trouble. Whatever about it he GGG Canelo fight, they may be great boxers but they are not maverick rebel working class superstars lol me Conor, Diaz bros, Bones Jones in spite of his problems, Bisping, Cruz. Even the boring personalities like Garbrandt and Dillashaw will produce a super fight in 2 months. Very exciting times for combat sports and it's fans.

Do Sky have their own announcers throughout the entire show? Would prefer to hear Showtime's crew with Ranallo, etc for the main event.
