I wonder what course Doug is going to attend in exchange for work done on the cult offices:
    Negotiation 101?
    Coping with a grumpy da?
    Advanced rocket science?

I think I missed heard a scene tonight it was between Robbie and Dan. Was Dan offering Robbie help to fight off Cathal and his gang?

So far, they have got the pacing spot on. This group has mushroomed without anyone of us even noticing. Her defensiveness to Pete was the first red flag for me. If they are playing it as a cult, Miriam and Emmet (and soon Doug) will soon be out for other members and some will try it and stay others wont get it and leave. She will get a loyal band of followers who will be raving about her and encouraging others to change their lives. Defo Katy and Caddle will be targeted, given recent events.
She may then ask for money, citing lack of funding or brainwash the members into thinking money is needed to keep the group going. Then if she starts pledging allegiance to some fictional group creator and she demands criminal acts from her subjects that's when it could get dangerous- Brookside did it and it involved bombs and suicide plans and FC does have the guts to tackle dark subjects so if they put their minds to it, this could be brilliant.

Then again Bild, after the farce of Katy and Trigger taking so long to die, they will probably make a total balls of it with 40 writers on it and wrap it up hastily some Sunday night when someone asks "What happened to Miriam?" "ah she left town" and that's it! I'm a healthy cynic.

The Brookside cult was ostensibly religious with Simon as the cult leader telling people to do crazy stuff and to "Do it for Jesus".

Miriam's group doesn't seem religious at all, instead it appears to be some sort of New Age outfit into The Secret and the Law of Attraction.

Maybe Miriam's cult is something to do with slavery. Everybody in it seems to need to do something useful.

Mondo said Juliette was 14. I thought she was 15 no?

Did Dusty Springfield and Jake not bust Cathals illegal meat racket yet?

Yes, Dan was offering to help - though I can't imagine how exactly!

Last night proved Miriam is certainly not as 'nice' as she seems. Cult leader or a user? Working for herself or fronting for someone else? It will be interesting to see where this goes.

Elsewhere, no sign of Paul as of yet. The strained relationship between Melanie and Mondo continues. She wants her son to be with an Armenian/Iranian Armenian person and not an Irish person. Most Armenians living in Dublin would be Iranians perhaps of Armenian descent but more commonly Persians who follow the Armenian Christian faith. Such people fled Iran due to the fall of the Shah and the Iran-Iraq war. Melanie's family is most likely one of them if she was real. Because she is called Melanie, she is most likely Irish born perhaps with one native Irish parent?

Armenians are the main producers of legal alcohol in Iran and can legally drink it themselves. Armenians in Armenia and Iran also make brandy. Armenia is also where Noah was supposed to be from.

I don't trust her a bit, she is ice cold and never ever rises to any aggravation. That kind of person probably expresses her anger secretly in a terrifying way. She had Pete thinking that HE was the issue at the end of the conversation. That's Emmet, Doug and I think Charlotte she has fully signed up. There will be definitely more.
What happened to that girl who was kind of going out with Emmet- was that Miriams daughter? She seemed to only exclusively go out with Emmet for the sole purpose of pushing him towards the meetings. Now there is no sign of her, very odd. :P

Back then, Miriam was just a minor character introduced as part of the Katy story to show Emmett's frustration with everything. Then Miriam played a role in the Charlotte/Katy v Oisin story. Now though she is seemingly being given her own story and a more sinister take on her character is emerging. Miriam also manages that arcade where Eoghan was selling phones.

The arcade business i think is a front to pass herself off as a pillar of the community. Most likely she used to manage a venue years ago and she hammed up her CV to get this job. Her main interest is Phoenix Way and getting daily volunteers signed up. Its very clever how this is a "new" branch in Ireland. it can be anything if that's the case- money laundering, pledging allegiance to some fictional "leader". They didn't introduce this and build it for no reason so I'm very curious going forward.

@ Strazda, thanks for the info on Brookside cult. I wasn't 100% sure and you make a good point about it being religious. Nowadays of course that wouldn't really fly because of how many people have gone their own way on that topic but whatever Phoenix Way are up to, it aint good!

She's being doing so much running lately, you'd think she'd wear a pair of sensible shoes!

Caddle really has scraped the bottom of the barrel in terms of "rough upbringing" storylines at this point. Practically every one of her storylines involve her being beaten or threatened by some scumbag, be it her dad or someone from her past and they always, always end with her having a showdown, the scumbag leaving the show and her repeating the same thing a few months later.

One-dimensional doesn't even begin to describe her character. Way past her expiry date by now.

Anyone feel tonight's episode has been dominated by coffee so far?

Niamh in the nightie has coffee, KT makes coffee and asks Charlotte to buy her a cappucino, now Paul wants another coffee...

Can we get a petition going to put Katy back in the box? I'm sick of her miserable face at this stage.

Jesus, the pacing of this Damien-Caoimhe story is torture! Took him 6 months of moaning for her to cop hes a miserable headcase and now we have had about a month of him fighting with Dean and Caoimhe. It will be 2020 before he finally attacks one of them!

    Very annoying.

I'm no psychologist but believe she needs 'exposure treatment' at this stage. Dragged out and made face her fears in public. Very uncomfortable at first but she'd get used to it.

I must clarify 'exposure treatment' does not include exposing your intimateparts in public like Lady Godiva;) Though this would ad to the viewer figures. It's before the watershed hour.
