Has no one alerted to when the hound pointed to the night King defeat him ie we should be going after him (and all the wrights will die and Jon said its more complicated than that!

I taught this was a very important piece of dialogue! Although I dont know why yet :D but there was definitely something in it

Or The Hound to find some fault in his brother that can be used to defeat him? It would be better that way seeing as The Beast disfigured The Hound for life.

What are the chances that Qyburn simply shoved a piece of dragonglass into his chest and put his armour back on?

Very slim I'd say, I vaguely remember a scene where Qyburn was draining out the Mountains blood and replacing it with something else?

I think The Night King sees the future and knew the dragon was coming and that it would die in the lake. Hence he brought the chains in advance.

Possibly - That would be a common sense reason for why he hasn't pushed on to try and kill Jon yet, despite having a couple of opportunities (although I suppose Jon has killed two of his lieutenants so far so if I was him I'd probably stand back and let the wights do the dirty work as well).

Given that the wights and WW were walking away after Jon climbed out of the water I figured they were going off to get the chains somewhere as opposed to having them there and then and we have no sense of how long after the fight they actually waited to retrieve the dragon.

My guess is that the chains were somewhere else (maybe they looted whatever Mance's horde of freefolk had when they attacked them) or else they had them close by (that arrowhead mountain could be their 'base' as it was also in the background of the scene last season when Bran saw the Children of the Forest creating the first WW)

If we asked those questions we'd have to wonder how arya 6-12 inches when she puts somebody else's face on. We could find a lot of holes if we want.

Chains likely belonged to the wildlings. Night King either has Visions which meant he knew he was going to be able to take out the dragon, or the scene with them pulling out the dragon was simply days or weeks later and they went and got the chains. The icy water would have preserved the dragon's body.

Arya explained that in this episode. It's all to do the magic the faceless men possess.

    Left behind by the wildlings?

I want Littlefinger dead. I will be happy when he's gone. Arya could kill him and since she can take his face no one need know he's dead.

Wildlings used chains on the gate when they attacked the wall.

White Walkers attacked and decimated huge Wildling settlement at Hardhome.

I don't think we need 10 minutes of White Walkers trekking to Hardhome (or another Wildling settlement) to get chains and come back. Just add 2+2, it ain't a plothole.

The white walkers and wights will be depleted though since Crasster no longer will be giving the Night King babies left right and centre. The various attacks and they can't reproduce in any way can they? They may have a dragon now but they could be lured into a secluded area and taken down that way. Arya talked about archery last night. Maybe she'll be equipped with a bow and arrows made from dragonglass and take down the wight dragon.

Anybody know why the dire wolf a couple of episodes back seemed to not really trust Arya, could it not really be her at all. Obviously this theory has been mentioned before.

Well it hasn't seen her in a few years and the last time they met Arya was throwing stones at her.

Never stopped other dire wolves from instantly remembering their human owners.

You're in a battle against living soldiers that once they die you can recruit to your army? That's a neat ploy to have in your strategy locker.

I was thinking that perhaps she may not be 100% Arya due to taking on the persona/faces of so many people. Something as basic as her scent may have changed because of it to the point where she seems strange to the wolf.

Either that or her training with the faceless man that forced her to relinquish the Arya Stark persona, if only briefly, and refer to herself as, "No one" , may have changed her too.

Ultimately, its been years since they last met and there's is no doubt that Ayra has changed massively.

I find it quite weird that GoT has no lead character archers. No Legolas type.

Why didn't the night king just refreeze the lake, and let the wights tear the magnificent 7 (6) apart?

They instead waited days, so that Gendry could run back, get a raven to fly south, and the dragons to fly back north?

Really good episode, but there were a few bits that were a bit of a joke tbh.

Her direwolf did remember Arya but I don't remember any of the other direwolves having stones thrown at it by their owners before. Maybe it comes back to help Arya down the line though.

Jon is handy with a bow and we've seen Tyrion use a crossbow. Ygritte was an archer too.

Historically in the middle ages the archers would be common people while the upper classes would be horsemen and heavy infantry. Most of the main characters on GoT are drawn from the nobility or upper classes, even the Hound is the son of a landed knight.

Well Ygritte was a good archer as were alot of the Wildlings.
Ramsey Bolton wasnt bad with the arrow either.

Whilst Jon is brave and fearless ,he isn't the brightest chap.
He must surely realise that they cant defeat the army of the dead in hand to hand combat.
They should be making as many dragonglass weapons as possible, arrows, swords and catapults that fire ball bearings made of dragon glass.
Arrows and catapults would be my weapon of choice for long range ,sword up close.

They should also be trying to create Valyrian steel, perhaps Sam might uncover something about that in his books.

I knew when I was watching the episode last night that there would be complaints about timelines and fast travel but you know what I just didn't really care at the time. It was just stupendously entertaining television and as the show builds towards its climax there is no doubt that it is full on fantasy now whereas the fantasy was always in the background in previous seasons. In a world of zombie bears and dragons I can't get too worked up about a fast flying crow.
