That makes zero sense, you don't know if it's going to happen or not.

What unknown is there in boxing then?

Also, what variables does boxing have that MMA does not?

    Read again..the threat is known..

"Knowing" it will happen is unknown..

How the hell did paulie not steamroll conor? Paulie is a world class boxer

    On that...

    A: It was a spar
B: It's feather fisted defensive minded Paulie. When did he steamroll any man?

I don't think anyone predicted or expected Paulie to steamroll Conor in a spar..

Anyone know why fights always tend to be on so early in Vegas? Like 8:00 on Saturday night?? Apparently this is when Mayweather V McGregor is on...

Would they not consider 10:30 at night which would be 6:30 in the morning for us which would be much better!!!

Ummmm....I just read article where they said it will probably be 4:00 in the morning....I'd love if they set it for 10:30 which is 6:30 - that ain't too early....I presume European market ain't that important in terms of viewing...

When it comes to boxers getting paid and on the undercard of this. If Al Haymon is involved (which he might just be an advisor to Mayweather promotions) then they'll get paid well. Haymon has his fighters get in the ring twice a year against mostly overmatched opponents for great money.

Also, it's quite possible imo, that Lomachenko may be clllllose to a perfect fighter.

I would pick many others before him through the years..

He is still a relative "novice" on the big stage. Needs to have several more fights against top class fighters, and needs to show us how he reacts should he be under real stress..

His chin is untested, and his inside game lacks potency for me..

Been mainly avoiding this thread but just read the last few pages back.

wonderfullife you are either a massive troll or the most deluded person ever. Such nonsense you are posting.

I didn't ask them what the hell they were on about because I wasn't aware Katie sparred Rigo, I asked them what the hell they were on about as they implied (as you are doing now also) that my reasoning for why McGregor has chance against Floyd compares to someone giving Katie a chance against Rigo. It's highly illogical as my reasoning for giving McGregor a chance is NOT based purely on the notion that 'Well, he could hit him and so must have a chance as a result' as is the suggestion .

This is what I meant earlier when I spoke of how users have given reasoned and articulate views on this thread and are more often that not met with obnoxious strawman responses from Boxing forum regulars more concerned with the sound of their own retort, the thanks it might garner, than actually bothering to familiarize themselves with just what it is that the user actually thinks.

    tl;dr

Conor should be a 12/1 shot to beat Floyd in my view, and I'd make Katie a 2000/1 shot against Rigo. Suggesting that giving McGregor a chance at beating Floyd, is akin to giving Katie a chance at beating Rigo............well, just shows how detached from reality many of you are with regards to the skill set of Conor McGregor.

Conor is 12/1? So that means, if I wager €100 on him to win, I will lose exactly €100....

There's footage of Katie Taylor sparring Guillermo Rigondeaux, they are about the same height, about the same weight (Katie is actually slightly heavier), Rigo is considered the current #1 ranked Super Bantam Weight and one of the top pound 4 pound boxers on the planet.

In the footage Katie is seen hitting Rigo clean several times.

Does this mean she can beat Rigo?

    Of course not.

No there's not... First of all he wasn't fighting back and secondly katie is quoted as stating that rigo is like a ghost that can't be hit

The disparity between specialisations and MMA is huge.

Lets say for the sake of it Conor competes at aprox 70kg (154lbs) in MMA and that's his natural competitive weight. I think you'd agree with that?

Could he hang with Lucas Lepri under IBJJF or ADCC rules?

Could he hang with Rasul Chunayev in greco-roman wrestling?

Could he hang with Magomed Kurbanaliev in freestyle wrestling?

Could he hand with Jason Nolf in Collegiate wrestling?

Could he hang with John Wayne Parr in Muay Thai?

Could he hang with Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong in Glory kickboxing?

The answer to all of the above is no, he'd be embarrassed, and there's nothing wrong with that, none of them would be able to hang with Conor in an MMA fight.

    It's that simple.

I'm sure you wouldn't even argue the above.

So what makes you think he can hang with one of the pound 4 pound greatest of all time boxers in a boxing match?

He probably could if he put his mind to it

Her father even said you could throw a bag of rice at him and none of it would hit him.
Rigo was only playing with her.

    Gross oversimplification of reality klaxon!!!

Its not a Hollywood movie where a three minute training montage takes the hero from plucky underdog to world beater. In the real world, putting ones mind to it doesn't mitigate all the other actual real and tangible things stacked against you.

Just purchased the fight on satellite TV for $10, really didn't expect it to be this cheap, I remember paying $60 for the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight.

I'm no softie, but the tone and attitude of some on here would not be tolerated in a face to face discussion.

I hope the "winning" side of the debate are good winners on Aug 26th.

Yes and no. I am of the opinion that "natural talent" (outside of genetic ability) comes from one's mind being obsessed with a particular task and constantly playing through it in their imagination.

Don't chat sh*t about sparring and publicy embarrassing a guy without releasing the full unedited footage tbh. You hear time and time again of Floyd f*cking lads up in sparring/lads leaving because they're beat up too bad but he's not publicly shaming them. You even have lads like Errol Spence who's known to have f*cked Adrien Broner up in sparring and notably left Floyd with a bruised eye when he sparred him as a pup but he humbly just laughs it off when it's brought up. But there's more class in an aul doll twerking at Coppers then the crowd in the McGregor camp.

Floyd has a complete 0 tolerance towards sparring footage being leaked for better or for worse...I ted to agree. A lot of crazy sh*t happens in sparring, often with little bearing on the real fight.

Look Paulie came out talking about how an overweight cameraman could beat McGregor in a boxing match. So, as childish as it sounds, he started it. He'd no place running off crying because a couple of photos were posted from the sparing session and McGregor said he boxed the head off him.

Its all beside the point. No one (its not some special Maywether thing) releases footage of their complete prefight sparring sessions to the public, and therefore the guy they are going to fight. It's stupid. And expecting McGregor to, when the one slight card up his sleeve is he's somewhat of an unknown quantity still when it comes to boxing (as of the time he's been training full time as a boxer for a pro fight).

Anyone criticising him for not releasing the footage, is either being obtuse, or just hasn't the slightest clue whatsoever about boxing, at all.

Unreal he thinks McGregor beats Canelo.:pac: McGregor wouldn't make it out of round 1 with Canelo or GGG. Maidana stops him as well.

Yes, he needs to keep the momentum rolling and get a live opponent in Dec. How about Terrence Crawford? I'm not discussing past greats because I don't have the knowledge.

    Conor via KO-TKO
Shawn Porter: "It's a knockdown. (As for how Conor looks) - He's doing what he's gonna try do to Mayweather, rough him up and look for that left hand to land"

Jesse Vargas: "(surprised) Conor was connecting with pretty nice left hands on Paulie. They were clean."

Kevin Kelley: "What I saw were a lot of slapping punches and Floyd will see them a mile coming. It could be for show but he needs to turn his hand over on his punches. My prediction is a 12-round decision for Floyd, Conor picked the right opponent. Floyd is not a puncher whereas GGG would get rid of Conor early"

Sugar Ray Leonard: "Hmm. Interesting. Well Conor is a fighter, we know that. He's gonna get in there and fight from Round 1 til the end".

Shane Mosley: "Everyone can close their eyes and throw a shot, so obviously Conor has a chance but it's a bit disrespectful. I've been boxing 37 years he's been boxing 2 years, he won't hit him with anything with his right hand anyway. Conor bringing my name up was disrespectful I'd fight him myself"

Steve Forbes: "It's part knockdown, part pushdown. Conor's scrappy man but Floyd is on a whole other level".
