"I presssssssssssssume that the Martens family would be hoping an appeal would not be successful"

You see it's that level of in depth analysis that you would not get if you tried to get somebody on less than 300K a year.

Certainly not from Dobbo; he needs to aim higher if he wants to be considered one of the big boys of RTÉ

Another infomercial from one of marians dinner Party luvvies.

This is supposedly a flagship show on the national effin broadcaster !!

Yeah it's incredible. And pointing out how safe Turkey is simply because the Department Of Foreign Affairs hasn't indicated to the contrary!! Self Serving rubbish. I always wonder how any of RTE's actual PAYING advertisers feels about these sort of spots.

This is utterly disgraceful radio. I suspect Sunway is a pal of an RTE bigwig and got this unpaid slot, that in advertising placement is beyond value. This stinks of favouritism.

Tanya is a little too eager, she reminds me of a cookery woman who's name escapes me that used to appear with PK in his RTE days.

50mins of free advertising .... I know it's "the silly season" but surely this is beyond belief

Nowadays we can lodge a complaint into the BAI over such abuse of programme content. Perhaps you should....

"Eleven members of the Rooney family, based on Traveller sites..... "

If they were Travellers, say they were Travellers ffs... Mealy mouthed bullsh1t from the PC brigade again. You wont hear about this story on Global Village.

Oh I just love that little one on the Bord Gais advert "more to do than filling that silly woman with cake" ... she is just georgous

Sorry I know that's off topic but I juat love her

The way she slowly turns around and moves her eyes across looking for a reaction is hilarious.

I assumed this slot was paid-for by the travel agency?

40 minutes of publicity like that is hardly free, surely? It wasn't a travel advice slot, after all; it was purely a 'This Is Your Life' for the agency in question.

    These stories are fascinating.....

"Well Marian, we were living and working in Dublin and we decided to move to..... Limerick."

Not Lebanon, not Lesotho, not Liberia....... but Limerick.

And strangely I find her obnoxious and extremely annoying. Different strokes for different folks, as they say. And she says 'wagon' not 'woman'.

As for Marian, I tuned away yet again this week. She's deplorable.

I caught a snippet of the item about university fees.

Whoever she was (didn't catch her name) she appeared to justify the level of fees now charged in Ireland (which I think used to be free) by comparing them with the fees charged in the USA; which Marian agreed with.

How can such a comparison make even an atom of sense. Apples and oranges. Beyond me.

Sinead Ryan, consumer affairs correspondent for Independent Newspapers.

I thought that comparison was fair enough, in terms of putting Irish university fees in context. But then she completely dismissed the genuinely free education in mainland Europe, without questioning why Ireland cannot pursue this model.

I'm not particularly opinionated about University fees, by the way, I just think that was an obvious slant in favour of the current policy, perhaps because she isn't acquainted with the system used in countries like France and Belgium, among others.

Yeah I was thinking that myself. I think Marion has found another woman who can express Marion's own opinions better than she can.

Jim Power again.. Dear God. The man should be in chains.

Averill Power has gone full SJW since she left Fianna Fail. I think she's a decent person, but don't agree with her leanings.

Who is this dissenting voice on the show!!!

He wont be back next week. :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,477 ✭✭✭Oops69

Marion is breathless even after normal speech , reading the headlines , get a hint and ditch the fags ffs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,829 ✭✭✭✭Dan Jaman

A load of the usual America-bashers on, I see.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,869 ✭✭✭PeterTheNinth

The authority with which Jim Power now speaks about property really irks me. He has all the answers now.

Jeez, she is very hard on the ears though, droning kind of voice in total monotone.

Re Jim Power: 10 years ago, when we went belly-up, interest rates had about 3-4% of downside to help diffuse the situation. There is now, virtually, 0% downside room. Wonder what the all-knowing Power thinks of that?

" 17 Is a very young age to be attacking people with axes and knives and things " she says in the context of the Barcelona attacks , does she even think for a second before spluttering out her ridiculous commentary .
