I have registered with 2 dealers. Nothing from either of them.

Didn't they get the memo that diesels don't sell anymore?!

But on a serious note - some 1.2 would really be appreciated by the buyers.

I really wanted to test the 1.2 but I guess they are going with what sold before and it was the big dirty diesel

Nearly one year after launch and that's the best they can do, that's pretty poor if that is the case.. The French must be saying to themselves, fu..ing RHD..

It's not the French, it is the Irish importer that ordered those spec for demo cars.

Funny that, I was only reading that they expected the Allure to be the best seller but it is being outsold by the GT Line, think that was for the 3008.

On a side note I actually preferred the frontal look of the more basic models in the 5008 (being different to both GT Line 5008 and all 3008s), but now I'm thinking I only like the GT Line look. Subjective of course!

Humans are weird. The more we know something, the more it looks/sound familiar, the more we like it.
That's why we are bombed by the same hits in radio - so that we eventually like them...

I guess all the promo pictures are the GT Line? I haven't seen anything of the "standard" 5008 but I hope to see it on Friday.....

    Petrol

If they had a Hybrid version it would be better

I am similar driving as you, I have eGolf(electric) for trips with only a few of us but need larger for full family trips. Diesel will be a waste of time with me....

The 1.2 Petrol is supposed to be a gem, hence the reason some of us would like to test drive it..

Step into Citroen dealer - they might have it with C4 Picasso or Grand C4 Picasso.

This motor is fitted into other cars as well, but it is pointless driving a 208 with it, as the mass of the car is a bit different ;)

Is there no reservations of a 1.2 in a vehicle this size with 7 passengers and a loaded boot?

Yeah, not to mention the lack of torque compared to a mid-range diesel.

I know there is a lot of negativity in Motors about the unsuitability of the many mis-sold small diesels in recent years. But a large payload vehicle like this is entirely the type that does benefit from a diesel engine IMO.

That would be my gut feeling too, I want to be able to overtake with a payload if needs be without the chance of dying :)

Look I know very little about cars, for me I need to buy a 7 seater in the next 6 months and with the lead time on the Kodiaq and the fact this has 3 individual seats across the back it ticks the box for me.

    Just play devils advocate.

I just did a test drive of one in Bluebell. It had the 1.6 manual diesel and it was the most basic version. I am well impressed by it. The GT-Line is by far more attractive in the eye. Quality is great all around and the space is massive. I am 6'1 and I was able to sit on the 3rd row, something impossible on the X-trail for example. I wouldn't say that i can do a long trip sitting on the back, but for short trips it would be perfect.

Called into Windsor Peugeot in Clonee today, they got a 1.6 120 hdi Active manual in yesterday. Was very surprised at the extra room over the 3008. The back doors are much longer for increased access for the kids. The 3 individual seats are fantastic [ a must for me] and offer a serious amount of space. I was told they'll have a GT line within the next 2 weeks. They also had a 1.6 auto GT Line 3008 available as a cancelled order with a full panoramic roof, looks nice. I don't know why the distributors sent out Active models, they look really basic compared the the GT Line. I was told anything as a special order will be a minimum 3 month- 4 month delivery, so Jan 181 car. I'm looking at the GT 2.0 HDi 180 auto myself, as by the time you spec up the GT Line on the 1.6 Hdi, it nearly works out at the GT price.

I also called into the Peugeot Garage in Finglas [think it was Terry Lily, not sure] and the sales guy hadn't a clue what I was talking about and had no idea when the 5008 would be in. I dealt with Brian in Clonee who seems to be a reasonable fella, who knows his stuff. I'm not affiliated in any way with any car garage, just giving a view on my experiences today.

Torque figure is absolutely irrelevant. There is a torque multiplier device between the engine and the wheels called the gearbox.

What really is important is the shape of the torque curve - and all of them look the same in turbocharged engines - it is flat in majority of the engine working range.

1.2 Puretech is turbocharged - so it will "pull" from low revs like a diesel. Well - kind off, you will not get the vibration and rattle sound sensations.

The newest EMP2 platform is very light - C4 Grand Picasso (5008 older brother) is lighter than C3 Picasso built on the old EMP platform! 1.2 engine itself is lighter than any diesel too - which also help with the performance and handling...

If the 5008 was available with 1.2 PureTech + EAT6 gearbox, that would be an absolute winner for me...

I think they are offering the 1.2 Puretech 130 in automatic for most of the trim lines, see the bottom of their page here for pricing
