Anyone know if united are staying in the city or flying back after the game ?

They flew back straight after the game in Norway the other day so I'd imagine they'll do the dame tonight.

Would definitely raise questions about Jose signing Serge Aurier. There is no question about talent, but this is buying a lose cannon. And I'm not sure why all of a sudden we need a new RB? A RB that I doubt will be happy playing 3rd choice to Valencia and Darmian (or Darmian leaving?) that could set off his antics.

Granted if he sorts his **** out, the best RB in Europe is sitting there waiting to come out. But that is a pretty big if, and it's a significant enough risk for the reported 27-30m.
I would imagine Darmian is first or second choice left back rather than right back at this point. First choice at left back til/if Shaw displaces him, imo.

But yeah, the links to a right back, and this right back in particular seem odd. would be a massive gamble, and probably already has a poor relationship with Ibrahimovic, who I imagine will come back.

The reality is it could all just be agent talk, the guy has no future at PSG and is being offered all around Europe. United could just be a convenient paper link. I thought it could be a play vs Spurs - they are being linked to him as a replacement for Walker, so maybe we were pushing that line to make them play ball on Dier, but with Matic being signed we are obviously not going to be moving for Dier.

As I say, I do think a right back is a position we could do with, but Aurier just doesn't seem to fit what I personally thought we would be looking at. And a left back would be more of a requirement imo, cause Darmian, Rojo and Blind aren't good enough there, imo, and Shaw has it all to prove if/when he is fit enough to play more than 2 games in a row.

Darmian will probably be first choice LB.

I dont like the Aurier links either. Needless signing that could cause more harm than good. I dont think hes better than Valencia.

However I do think I read earlier this window that Aurier and Pogba are close friends so that may be an influence. And of course Bailly would be a compatriot of his so maybe between Bailly and Pogba we'd be hoping they could calm him down? I also think Aurier is vice captain of Ivory Coast so he must be capable sometimes of keeping his head.

The one time anyone has ever said this, I wish Mike Ashley owned Man Utd the whole team and Jose would be in Sports Direct doing a signing. Wonder will many first team players line out tonight.

Id imagine first half will be our strongest line up, prob play 60min most of them.

I'd say it'll be the same as all the other games and most players will get 45-60 mins

Matic really needs to get some selfie lessons from Pogba - he cut off half his own face :D

With PSG looking like they will get Neymar, August could be mental ( if that transfer is not mad enough). Glad most of United's work is done, just wish wide player was sorted.

Yep there will be a serious ripple effect. Sky actually had it the other day

It is being reported that United had an agreement to sign Neymar last summer, but Neymar at the last minute changed his mind and instead decided to stay at Barcelona.
PSG are said to be concerned the same could happen again this summer with them.

There was talk that di maria was being offered to barca as part of neymar deal. I dont care how good neymar is, 150m plus di maria or whatever cash they are offering is too good to turn down. Would add a lot more balance to barca team as well. Saying barca will also move for ozil or dembele if coutinho doesnt come

There are way too many Dembele's in football. Its a farce.

The Neymar story could get a lot more complicated.

    https://en.as.com/en/2017/08/02/football/1501658246_495875.html

La Liga saying they won't accept the money from PSG. In that case Neymar won't be able to buy out his contract (I assume when they say PSG they mean anything related to PSG in this deal), so his release clause becomes irrelevant.

Of course Barcelona may just accept the money themselves, rather than via La Liga, at which point La Liga don't get a chance to accept or reject.

Barca are trickling stories out about his nightlife, raising questions(windirectly) about his longevity at the highest level and his proffesionalism aswell as stories about the $$$ for him and his father.

Basically doing what Barca and Real do before a sale, make it out like they wanted rid, rather than the player deciding to leave, so their fickle fans don't get butthurt.

Surprisingly looks like that deal is happening, which is a big shock if I'm honest. For all the talk about him and transfers, I didn't actually think he would leave. PSG is such a brutal move also in terms of football from where he is.

Surely if you have a release clause that says €XXmn will trigger it, that is legally binding no? If Barca/La Liga are happy to just break that aspect, what would stop the (admittedly completely hypothetical) situation of Neymar just deciding to rock up and play for PSG instead of Barca and where would each party stand legally?

Release fees are only actually applicable to La Liga teams as fas as I know, they have just historically allowed foreign teams to use the same mechanism.

As for your scenario - if Barca/La Liga don't accept the money to break the contract, then the contract stands and Barca don't have to release his registration. So PSG (or anyone else) would not be able to register him to their club to play him.

There's only Bassirou, Bira, Boubacar, Gara, Karamoko, Makan, Mana, Mousa, Moussa, Ousmane and Souleymane. I don't see what the problem is? :D

I want one club to sign all of them, and play an 11 of just Dembele. Sure, positionally it will be a joke. But I feel this is a thing that needs to happen.

    "You're booked - name please"
    "Dembele"
    "Which one?"
    "M. Dembele"
    "Which one?"
    "Mousa"
    "ONE S OR TWO?"

It must be a nightmare trying to market yourself as a footballer too - talk about diluting the brand :D If they'd any sense they'd switch to their first names like Memphis and Dele :pac:

IIRC the release fee can only be activated by the player themselves, basically the money is lodged to the players account and the player then Buys themselves out of the contract through LaLiga offices. This has caused loads of problems in the past as when the clubs lodge the money to the players account the player immediately have to pay tax on that amount at something like 40%, so what happens the majority of the time is that the two clubs themselves negotiate and agree to the sale..

Clubs like Bilbao who only use Basque players are notorious for refusing to deal with clubs and they do not negotiate and the player has to deposit the money through the LaLiga offices and pay tax on the lodgement ,like what happened with Herrera and Javi Martinez. Prettt sure both ourselves and Bayern had to give the tax on top of the fee too.

I think that the law that governed the tax has been rescinded in the last year or so and only the release clause fee would have to be lodged to the players account to be given.

Actually, reading the BBC article. Says we had agreed to pay the €190m fee for Neymar last summer, agreed terms with the player, and then Neymar pulled out at the last second.

    I know it is over.

That was last year that Neymar had agreed, but then had a last minute change of heart.

Usain Bolt wants to join United.

"Everyone knows I'm always talking about [playing] football, I'm waiting on a call from Mourinho," Bolt said.

"I think he's waiting until the last day [of the transfer window]."

It may be in jest but I think he really wants it. Whether he would be any good is another thing, but he would have some pace.

This neymar transfer is ground breaking, rarely does a player leave Barca at the peak of his game and move to a club like psg. The knock on effect will be massive

From a United perspective, I'm really hoping they go all out for a Coutinho or Hazard, and weaken a rival. I've never been happier to not have a WC player who Barca might want :P

They could also go for Grizeman which would be a bummer
