I think we are getting a little OTT on Carrick and his passing ability. He was a good decent player on the ball but he was no Xavi or Pirlo.

His best abilities have not been mentioned. Carrick passing in top games was nothing out of the ordinary.

Im a Carrick fan and appreciate his efforts for the club, but no way for was he a super passer either

Compared to Matic, yes Carrick is a "super passer". 😂

When Carrick was announced as captain earlier in the Summer, with Herrera vice-captain, I took that as a way of Jose getting two birds stoned at once: Pay respect to Carrick, but indirectly make Herrera captain who would likely play more games than Carrick.

I thought he named Carrick as Captain and said there would be no vice captain.. i really think you are wrong here so I'm going to ask for your source dude :D

    Edit:Never mind, found it :D
Jose Mourinho says that Manchester United will not have a vice-captain next season.

Mourinho announced that Michael Carrick will be Wayne Rooney’s replacement as club captain, following Rooney’s departure for Everton.

With Carrick unlikely to start every game, that led to speculation about who Mourinho would name as his deputy. The answer is that nobody will be.

“We don’t have a vice-captain, a captain is enough,” Mourinho said.

“Michael is obviously the captain and when Michael is not on the pitch, somebody will take the armband but Michael is still the captain.

“I don’t like a lot the criteria of the captain to be a player with more time at the club because sometimes you have somebody with the armband that doesn’t have the qualities to be the captain and is just the captain because he arrived before other players.

“We are going to try, we are going to feel, we are going to make decisions, but in people like (Antonio) Valencia, (Ander) Herrera, Paul (Pogba), Ashley Young, (Chris) Smalling, we have people that step by step we have to prepare.

“Michael will be the captain for one year, maybe two if he decides to do that and his body resists the demands of the Premier League and Champions League.

“But for this season… only one captain.”

I am not here to do your googling for you. (Am I doing this right?:pac:)

But yes, there may have been a false recollection on my part. Will have to have a deeper look later. Now comes Game of Thrones.

Well DM are worse than John snow
they know nothing as the Chevrolet deal is £75 million isn't it or am I confusing that with adidas...
and dhl are paying £20m for the training gear so tinder will have to cough up more than that for match day exposure

I'm not a fan of more sponsors but an app that helps people get laid more often and meet people doesn't seem like the worst one...

Xavi and Pirlo are probably 2 of the best passers of all time. Carrick was a bit below their level but was still a class act and one was still one of the best passers in europe and probably the best in england for a few years.

Matic was never and will never be anywhere near as good as carrick was

Interesting to see reaction to Matic move in Chelsea forum, they are worried that they are a bit light in numbers in MF now, saying that last season it was noticeable that Kante did a lot of covering of ground for Matic as he isn't the fastest over first ten yards....to be fair they weren't saying it to gloat that Utd had signed a declining player.
I'm happy that we have secured a quality DM,a position that has caused trouble since Fergie retired.

At the same time I have said several times on forum during transfer season where talk was about Matic,Dier,Fabinho,or other possibilities that ideally we should go for Fabinho,as he's young and can cover two positions, arguably Dier could do the same but is very average imo.So I'm happier with Matic than overpaying for Dier.
In a perfect world I think we should try and sign another midfielder during this window, one that would have a resale value if he didn't settle at the club,Dendoncker was mentioned a few days back but seems he is not the quickest which would be concerning.
And then there's always next Summer for Fabinho or Veratti😀.

You sound like you're from the 1800's using the word poof.
