Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Thanks all! Definitely doing a report on today. That feeling of standing up high - that podium is HIGH - with a national gold around your neck? Unbeatable. Later tho, am on the train with no beer trolley and report writing is thirsty work ;)

Pressure pushing down on you, pressing down on me. No (wo)man ask for.....

Sorry B, the 4yo is obsessed with that at the mo. I have every intention of writing a report but it's been a busy couple of days incl Mon; Bill sick, Tue R sick and today...my turn :( I also have a graded 800 tonight so you might get 3 for the price of one tonight/tomorrow/whenever.

    In the meantime:

    800: whoosh, gosh, over?
1500: hmm maybe, umm legs 'move'. No? Ok just hang in....

And thank you. looking forward to seeing how you do this week!

Great stuff, 2:30 is some going for 800.

Looking forward to an epic report :)

Must be something in the waters lately, with so many former DCM Novices mentors (see also Ososlo, Younganne, nop98) raising the bar to new heights :D

To be clear that was 2 and a half hours, 150 mins.

She won the T65 Zimmerframe category :)

Well done DG I wouldn't run one lap in 75 seconds

Long suffering readers of this poor neglected log may be interested in today's European Masters Athletics Championships, where DG is running for Ireland (!) in the W45 1500. Per the entry list she has the third best season best (a fantastic 4:55.6), so definitely not there to make up the numbers: http://www.fidalservizi.it/risultati/2017/AArhus_2017/GaraL555.htm

Race is on at 15:15 or so. If you're reading this DG get off your phone and get warming up! :pac:

Thanks Brian :) I brought everything I had to the table yesterday, mentally and physically. It wasn't enough...this time.
To be perfectly honest, yesterday's result was a pretty accurate reflection of where I am right now. I had hoped and wanted to be 5-10 seconds faster but it is what it is. You can't hide on a stage like that!

I did, however, come away with the much desired photographic evidence of both feet off the ground while running :D I'll post the pic when I get back, can't see how to add a pic on the mobile site. Unless you want to pull it off my fb page Brian?! :D
It was taken around the 700m mark. I was staying out of trouble and in contention as per plan. When it came to the tempo increase over the next lap, I just didn't have that extra gear.

My race was won in 4:51.x, 4:53.x and 4:54.x, a clean sweep by the Germans who also got 4th. I managed to take the scalp of a UK athlete who was 3rd in the world masters 5000m last year so I will take the small victories....

You could say I have the international championship bug now. Next stop, Madrid for the European indoors in 2018

A big chunk of redemption yesterday: 2:29.6 in the 800m heat. This qualified me comfortably for the final. I have to say this again: "THE FINAL"....words cannot describe howover the moon I am. Whatever about the 1500m final by fault, this I feel have earned :)

We went through 400 in just over 72 I think and at this stage felt really good. Ditto at 300 to go. With 200 to go I made the rookie mistake of wondering when 'they' were going to sweep past instead of gathering myself for the final push. Anyway, tis all a learning curve. My time is the fifth fastest qualifying time overall which is a much-needed confidence boost. Turbo boost in fact!

Thanks all and Adrian....you just made me melt, thank you! I really really intend to write a race report (or three). It was a fabulous experience, in more ways than one. The standard across all the ages, the camaraderie, the friendships made...It really is the ultimate celebration of athletics. I think I have become a championship groupie :D:D I have already lined up the indoors in Madrid, maybe the xc relay in the non-stadia in May and definitely the Masters World Championships in Malaga September 2018. Have to start saving now! Mulberry, I expect to see you at at least two out of those three!! #AthleticsTourism
