Better be some deals incoming if there willing to let three midfield players go since January.

That area to the pitch is an injury away from absolute disaster ! Even with all the remaining players its bare bones.

Would like to see Matic Dendoncker and possibly Sanches come in be nice few options.

Funking hell... Where is all this love of mctominay coming from?? Named in a couple of squads and people are looking to him as an answer?

Did he impress in the reserves that i didn't notice?

Looks a fairly average academy graduate imo. Handy but no great prospect. Have other midfielders I would rate ahead of him - Matty willock as a CM. Gribbon and Gomes as attacking options.

Imagine if Pogba got injured. That midfield would be bloody bleak!

He was pretty average to a small bit above average in the reserves towards the end of the season, i think Jose sees something in him to keep him around the squad and bring on tour though.

In fairness Rashford kind of took the same trajectory, He could be showing a lot more in training and integrating with the first team than we know.

If this happens we surely getting two midfielders. Otherwise squad weaker than last year.

Just saw it being reported by Turkish TV.Looks like it's happening.

There is absolutely no way the club will allow him to go without at least one coming in for certain

Why would the sporting director say that? Anyone that wants him then will never bid more than the 22m he said. Bids will prob start at less than that

It came across, to me, as if that fee was already agreed.

Will be really sorry to see Fel go, if true. Loved his attitude, even if his skill didn't match it.

There's no way we're letting him go unless someone else is about to be announced...

As things stand unless we get a DM in he will still be as wasted as he was last season. Its incredibly important situation and really i know its complicated money teams involved etc but ffs something should of happened by now.

I hope we dont hear down the line that the hold up has been over money because at this point id rather we had spend the extra money got the deals done earlier in window and all signing where ready to go.

If its been a case where we pissed around over a few million then its incredibly annoying. I dont like seeing us having to massively overpay for players who are not worth it but this is important to the balance of the whole team.

I'm not buying the Fellaini leaving until I see something from a journalist briefed by the club.

It really amazes me that some on here deride the signing of a key figure in ths title winning team of 2 out of the last 3 seasons, yet get all excited by the signing of Anderlechts second best midfielder

Dude, I want both. Dendonker would be a brilliant back up to Matic.

Memories of 2011-2012 come back when I think of lack of CM.

Are these the same people saying both things? Any posts to back this up?

Didn't read all the stuff but just seems everyone posting about the fact he could be off.Nobody deriding him. I think deals must be done to replace him and sign another DM or he'd be staying.

Maybe, maybe not. I dont follow individual posters that closely, I just think some of the sensationalism in here is nuts. Ive seen posts from the start of the month along the lines of "sign someone - anyone, just sign someone this week." I may be wrong but I dont think a single poster mentioned Dendoncker before this media link gets posted, but suddenly he's the answer to our problems.

For the central midfield we only have:

    PL Players:
    Pogba
    Herrera
    Carrick
    Fellaini
    Pereira

    Cup Players:
    McTominay
    Gomes

Scrathing Fellaini from our options and the midfield becomes awful.

I assume that if we were told 25-35 would get Dendonkor we have started at 20 and dont want "our pants down" so we wont budge the last bit of money to get him.

Miki and Mata also potentially, as an attacker of a 3?

If we are using a #10 yeah can add them. Actually very fair point I suppose we will have to be using a #10 like last year since we didn't get a proper DM.

Even against some of the smaller teams we would use a player like Mkhi and mata to have an extra man in there that can pass thru tight defences

We are one or two injuries (Pogba, Herrera) away from a disaster in midfield imo if Fellaini goes (as it is we are pretty thin for a long season with lots of games).

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,996 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

Again. There is zero chance of Fellaini going if a replacement hasn't been signed, and I mean that on top of the main DM signing.

Matic and Sanches would be a nice pair signed imo, but nothing indicating we want Sanches that I've seen

Wasn't there something in the last few days saying Sanches would only be able to leave on loan, with no option to buy. Be hard to get a big club to take him on loan for a season

Yeah we will switch between using an AM and a DM during the season and matches but I'd have assumed the DM option would have been our main one. Naturally we would switch to the AM if needs be to break down a stubborn side!

Jones to Chelsea in part exchange maybe? Unlikely but hard to see what else it could be. If it meant a different use of Jones, it would be hard to understand why we havent seen it already

I'd say we will see it tomorrow in the friendly
