    Hey Guys,

Have a chromecast already but looking to get my first box. Will be looking to stream the usually mainly sports tho

Any particular box you would recommend? Would like to have a nice remote and will get a TV launcher for easy navigation

If the budget allows, go for the nvidia shield, after that the mi box with Ethernet adaptor. Personally have shield, its lightning quick

    Box recommendation is illegal?

Anyway I figured a standard entry box would do the trick..

Will this Abox do the trick to start?

    Hi Guys,
I attached a portable HD to my MI Box 3 and if I go into ES File Explorer I can see the content of the portable HD and I can play the files (eg music file/video file).
What I would like to do now is map that drive to my laptop i.e. I want to be able to access/see the contents of the portable HD from my laptop - is it possible and if so how please? I suppose in other words I want to map the MI Box to my laptop.
BTW I did google but couldn't find the answer.

    Cheers

Better performance, low spec = low performance, and a wrecked head while trying to watch certain content, particularly hd.

    @mayosalmon.

2gb ram boxes are on sale for the same price as some of those outdated 1gb models.
About €50 odd will get one on Amazon if ordering from China isn't ideal.
A quick look on Google will get tutorials on setting it up.We can't discuss certain stuff here.

BTW if you are using it a good bit, don't forget to clear the caches regularly, the amount of people I see complain about boxes not running and then find out the memory is clogged up with bits of useless data is amazing.

If you look back a day or 2, I posted a link for a box from gearbest, 3gb ram and not too expensive, works well for me at home

Anyone buy the mi box from eBay, delivered from HK. I know it will be slow delivery but are they genuine, massive difference in price compared to amazon.

No too regularly as that may also effect the long term performance, although tbh, most will have probably upgraded by then. (It may just be worth being aware of, especially for older boxes).
App Cache Cleaner is handy, i have to put it on my relatives boxes. Not for the one tap clean, but for the option of setting autoclean to perform once a day, once every 3 days or once a week i usually set it for once a week for them.
If there was an option for 14 days i would set it to that.

That is around the normal price in sales, which come up quite often. They look legit, and seem to have good ratings. The only thing i will say is that i find it harder to get any comeback if anything goes wrong with anything bought from ebay. i think it is the Chinese or older version, i glanced through it
If i was you, i might wait a couple of days and see if there is another sale (one has just ended on banggood).
I would imagine it is good though.

In case you don't know, this does not appear to be the latest Mi Box - this appears to be a Mi 3S

Yep. I think it is not the 'international version'. It is the latest version, but is only for the Chinese market.
The model you are looking for is the MDZ-16-AB or Mi Box 3.
    https://www.banggood.com/Xiaomi-Mi-Box-Amlogic-S905X-2GB-RAM-8GB-ROM-TV-Box-International-Version-p-1118302.html
This was on sale for €47 last week, and will probably return to that price when it comes back, probably with a code.

Yeah, that's the latest version. Most sites sell it for 70 USD e.g. gearbest, geekbuying, banggood (like you posted) and on ali:

Is the UK court decision (making ISPs liable) relevant?

Not unless they apply it over here, and/or you are using illegal streams.

I doubt it will make any difference in UK and none here .
    Just stick to legal

    It'll just make VPNs popular.
It'll have the same effect as the court case here making ISPs block the pirate bay.

Everywhere that i read about these, the reviews are amazing.

It can play everything that is thrown at it, no expense spared on developers and hardware.
Apparently they had some in stock from Spain for €700 and shipped to UK (zero tax). But there are none left in stock at the minute. I probably could not afford to, but at that price i would have snapped it up.

Something very fishy going on here, the now defunct tvaddons domain is now owned by a Canadian law firm.I won't post anymore in case we get close to the line of what we can discuss but it's all in the article I linked to.

Cheers for the reply. What makes it the best or better than the others?

Anyone see any reason not to buy from this lot in the link above? Its the cheapest i can find but id worry it could be some knock off Chinese rubbish.

Zapals and Fasttech also selling it a bit cheaper.

Do a search on the differences between the two and see if you need or want the extra features.

Looking for download link for a kodi fork for Android 4.2.2?

    Thanks

FTMC or SPMC they are also both on play store

    http://kodi.wiki/view/SPMC

I prefer SPMC, but each to their own.

Older versions of them are, yes. I think it would be SPMC 16.4.2 i am not sure about FTMC

You could also try this. I have not, but it seems to be specifically for what you are looking. There are tons of forks now
    http://nodifork.com/

    CEMC, MyGica, RKMC etc.
