Wait until the window closes see what happens. I still think costa will go to athletico and we will sign greizemann if not in jan then next summer

I wonder is the hangup on the price for perisic because he wasn't the first choice wide player and they reckon that for 30 million more they can have griezman In January or more then likely next summer.

I honestly don't think Perisic us a backup target. I think he wanted AG at 10 off Zlatan and Perisic as a winger.

Mkhitarayan is nailed on 10 this year or should be.

I don't think so I don't recall any talk of perisic until griezman made his announcement.

I've said it loads but it's a transfer that don't make sense to me. He would cost too much for his age and he ain't going to score enough goals from the wing.

Duncan Castles saying United are willing to spend big, but not ridiculously big because of the Glazers.

If Sigurdson is going for nearly 50mil and that's what city payed for walker. I'd wonder if united aren't trying to penny pinch with their targets... In short, the market has gone mad and to get a player you want you simply have to pay stupid money. Since united have more stupid money then most clubs they should just stump up the cash for their targets and move on...

I never understand why fans like united playing hardball to spend less money buying a player that effectively has little to no effect on the club.

The glazers have backed every manager in transfer market since they have come in. Spent nearly half a billion in a few years

Pure speculation on both our parts but I disagree.
One simple reason being if Perisic and Griezmann were both first choice targets, who was the Griezmann back up option we should now be chasing? It's not Lukaku, he is replacing Ibra

Back in April I would guess the main plan was Griezmann, Lindelof and a Dm were the priority, anything else was gravy.
When Zlatan got injured that caused us to move for another center forward and get Lukaku.
And the Atletico transfer ban put a massive spanner in the works

Apparently, Sam Lee is pretty reliable for City stuff, as in he gets briefs directly from the club, and he is saying City are officially after Mbappe, and worry if Real get him, that Bale would have to be shipped out to cover the cost, with us as the likely destination.

City showing ambition and a willingness to do what's required to get their managers targets. United moaning about the market being tough.

    "biggest club in the world".

As mentioned in the podcast above, City and United are operating under two completely different economic models. We may not like it but that's the reality of the situation.

Did city get bonucci, sanchez, mbappe or van djik yet? No

You seem to have some sort of agenda against either ed woodward or man utd the club.

We have already spent over 100m this summer with more to come.

    Relax

Like break the transfer record for example?

We've broken our own transfer record 4 times in the last 3 years. 1 of those being a world record fee. Stop being a drama queen.

Other clubs, not every other club.

    [quote="bangkok;104188640"more to come.

Really? So Jose saying it might not be possible to get more should just be ignored cause it doesn't suit you? Jose saying he isn't happy with our transfer window should just be ignored?

City have put the money up for mbappe - if he doesn't sign for them it's not because they didn't try to sign him. Bonucci wasn't going to leave Italy. He didnt end up at Milan cause city wouldn't back pep to buy him.

I have no agenda against united or Woodward. I simply have an opinion that United are being left behind by clubs with far greater ambition than we show.

United will not win the title, or contend for the CL without more significant investment and the narrative the club is pushing at the moment indicates we are incapable of that.

My opinion is based on that narrative and I will state it.

Cool, so it was a completely meaningless statement on absolutely every level. Wibble from Woodward.

And if we want to win the CL similar investment is required as again. But the club is currently saying the current market is too difficult to sign players in. What confidence am I supposed to take from such statements?

With the way fees have gone, breaking records is almost meaningless. City just broke the record for a defender twice in a week or so. That's just the level of money needed for players these days.

Pay over the odds for good but not great players when there are plenty of viable alternatives?

Sorry mitch but the level of investment your talking about to a normal club is not sustainable.

A few year ago when Woodward made them comments city and the likes had to comply with financial fair play that has since been relaxed so it means their sugar daddy can spend spend spend.

City and milan and the likes are been bankrolled if united spent like that they would not be sustainable its as simple as that.

We could blow city out of the park under financial fair play but when that's not the case anymore what can we do?

The club has shown massive ambitions but because they are not making China level of investment you think they are happy to sit back.

I'd be more confident of José building and shaping the team the way he seems to be doing and been successful then I would of city been able make an entire new defence work in one transfer window.
