I'm not, and practice what you preach. Oh . . . and calling people trolls is also against the rules.

Any link to the poll backing up your claim ? Or did you mean self hating Irish people ?

You're not my friend / pal / bud / dude. U2 haven't been any good in years, but you're just another boring begrudger who can't handle the idea of Bono's success and money. Get over it.

    Not Your Ornery Onager

The Rats ftw, even though Bob was such a poseur. Or The Blades. Not everyone had Paul as a fifth member, and Bono will always be a member.

    Not your ornery onager

Up until the turn of the century they were great. Now they're just old men reliving their glory days.

Like a lot of their early stuff.............

Might go tomorrow if I get a free ticket I've been promised (otherwise, no .. indoors I would, but I hate Croker for gigs).

I'm not into bands. The only band that I ever liked was Queen. I never got Bono as a singer and I never got the band as a band. I never got the melody in their songs except for 'with our without you', which is only OK but ultimately forgettable. So I do agree U2 are hugely overrated.

I don't own any of their albums, have never searched for them on Spotify, but I'd love to see them live. Everyone I know who has seen them play has said they are unbelievable live. And who doesn't love a good show?
Also, I don't give af uck about their tax sitchee ayshun.

Great to see half the ticket sales going towards reducing third world debt.

Drumcondra does not count as 'third world'.

    I've always loved this one.

Seen them live a few times, but haven't found them to be much good in years. The exception is their acoustic stuff when they just sit around together playing, stripped of all the showy tacky concert and gimmick rubbish.

Never had much time for them in my youth. Figured they owed a lot to other bands like the Bunnymen (a far more interesting and innovative band) that I liked but never had the success.

Guitar work in 'The Cutter' that the Edge has made a career on. Have a listen to 'The Killing Moon' especially the vocals at the end. Could easily be Bono.

Ian McCulloch sounds like someone took Bonos voice (which I don't mind) and made it better. I would be amazed if U2 weren't Bunnymen fans.

Older now and think they're pretty good. Only seen them the once way back when in Cork and enjoyed it.

Would love to see this show. The Joshua Tree is a terrific album.

All this business about U2 annoys me, personally I think they're shíte, but if people want to go and see them off you go, just leave us non-believers alone yiz useless pricks

Fair enough you are entitled to your opinion.
    But

Why are u2 believers useless pricks?
How are the so called useless pricks bothering you?

The way I see it, well you are the one stirring it up....

I always thought they tried to copy Simple Minds.

To older generations they were probably amazing. But to young people they just sound old and generic. What was new and innovative eventually becomes old hat when everyone does it.

I imagine most of those going would be in their 40's at this point? Hopefully they'll all feel like teenagers again and get totally **** faced and enjoy themselves.

I like a lot of their songs but not enough to go out and buy an album.

Have to laugh at the people saying their stuff since Achtung and Pop is crap. Have you actually listened to any of it? I mean properly listened to it?

I'm not saying you have to like it, there is loads of artists out there I don't like but will always appreciate that just because stuff isn't my cup of tea, that doesn't mean it's crap.

Sure then again, I suppose yiz are all looking forward to Ed Shearing :D

Bit of both maybe. Bono and McCullochs voice aren't a million miles apart and some of SM's music is pretty grandeous like those two.

The opening to 'The Waterfront' is huge.

I think if I were a rock singer and someone compared my voice to Bono's......I would be deeply upset.

You are so wrong they have never been rated by people their own age.

A good description of them from about 25 years back........https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60DK9iaifSA

Well I wouldn't call Echo and the Bunnymen a rock band first off and if anyone tells me they don't hear Bono in the vocals of 'The Killing Moon' they need a hearing aid.

In fact U2 would make a fantastic Echo and the Bunnymen tribute band.
