Always liked Williams surprised he hasn't been resigned by someone. Did a fantastic job as a back up for Bell and Pittsburgh the past two seasons.

Here are some teams he won't sign for!

Well he just went up in my estimation. I love how he won't sign with Cleveland or Jacksonville but SF is apparently fine.
My fandom for the team I was raised as will not allow me to go to the Cowboys,” Williams told Schefter. “I’m an ’80s baby ... and the 49ers ruled the ’80s. The Cowboys somewhat did something in the ’90s; I even refuse to give them that.

“The Cowboys, they win. They just don’t ever show up during the playoffs. They always disappear in the playoffs. I’ve got a great depiction of the Cowboys’ fan base. During the regular season last year, they were on cloud nine. You couldn’t tell them anything because they were going to win the ‘ship — that’s all they said. Fans just got extremely super annoying. Then, the minute they lose, they either got cheated, somebody was hurt — the excuses start flowing. It’s just amazing to me. That fan base just in general can’t handle defeat. Still, to this day, they say that the Dez Bryant catch against the Green Bay Packers was a catch!”

If Dez caught it, the Cowboys should never have even been playing that day. :p

I really hate the new design of the NFL homepage, so much scrolling required.

what's been the best addition for your team this off season?

The first pick of the 2017 NFL draft

    No 9
Butkus award winner in High School and College
    Linebacker from Notre Dame
    Jaylon Smith

Hard to say, but I have a feeling that Brandin Cooks is in for a big season.

Most valuable addition may end up being David Harris though.

Too early to tell really, the rookies might all be booms or busts for every team. Vince Biegel will be one to watch, if he proves to have the athleticism. The likes of Josh Jones, Kevin King and Montravious Adams could well take a year or two as is often the case at those positions. In terms of what they will bring this year, possibly Ricky Jean Francois on the defensive line, or Martellus Bennett at TE.

An extra 30 pounds or so of Leonard Floyd would be a big addition.

Perhaps one of the more tech savy posters here can offer me some advice as I don't know a better forum to post this in.

I downloaded a high quality copy of the Super Bowl - it's only 720p but it's 45 MBPS. The file size is 135gb in total. It plays perfectly on VLC on my laptop, but when I try watch it on my TV - the picture is always stuttery/jumpy.

That's understandable when I tried to Chromecast it across, but even when I did a direct HDMI connection from my laptop to my TV, it was the same result. My TV has a USB port, but I'm not confident that would be any better if I put the file on a HDD.

What's considered the best method of watching it so it doesn't stutter, or does it depend on my TV? These are my TV specs for what it's worth (http://www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/c4db47b)

Panthers fire GM Dave Gettleman. Must of done something wrong in personal life as timing seems strange with training camp starting

Was just going to post the same, seems a bit odd with preseason a few weeks away

Thought he did a fantastic job overall. I wonder if there was some resentment behind the scenes with how he handled the Smith and Norman situations (not that they come across as the easiest individuals to deal with). People have pointed out that Olsen and Davis are in contract years, maybe Jerry didn't trust him given his handling of the other big names?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,475 ✭✭✭✭Knex*

Panthers fans not impressed with this. Rumours are that its a falling out with the owner over letting Josh Norman walk.

He'll get another GM position before long, you'd have to think. Maybe could get welcomed back to the Giants in the future!

When you connect the laptop to your TV is it displaying the laptop at 1080p/4K resolution? That would eat up unnecessary processing power since the file is only 720p. You could try changing the resolution of the laptop to 720p if it is displaying it at a higher res on the TV.

You could probably transcode it down a bit since it's only 720p. 45000kbps would be the proper raw feed from the insanely expensive stadium cameras that has not been transcoded by the TV channel so lowering the bitrate would not result in any visual difference. I record football matches for my collection from TV and the raw .ts file aired on TV ends up being 17000kbps - 20000kbps at 1080p with a file size of 13GB for a 2 hour recording.

Steve Smith conducting himself with the utmost class, as per usual.

Your first paragraph - that's a good idea, but one that would never have occurred to me in a million years. I'll give it a shot now and see if that helps!

Your second paragraph - what would be the best format to convert it to? It's a .ts file now, actually the first time I ever came across a .ts file as I wouldn't have much of a digital media collection. If your first suggestion in the first paragraph doesn't work, what would you recommend? Unless I've drastically misunderstood you! :o

As a Panthers fan it's hard to be anything but confused about this one.
Fair enough he has let franchise legends like Steve Smith and Deangelo Williams go, and rescinding the franchise tag on Josh Norman was a bold shout but he took us from a salary cap strapped 6-10 to Superbowl 50 in the space of three seasons.
Personally I think it has to do with the fact Thomas Davis and Greg Olsen are currently looking to renew contracts.
If it was even suggested he wished to cut Davis (a player franchise owner/founder Jerry Richardson stuck by through 3 ACL tears) he'd have to go.
The timing of this decision is very bizarre so I have to think it's related to Thomas Davis or greg Olsen (rumour has it Richardson was already unhappy with DG's decision wrt Josh Norman)
Really wishing we hadn't offloaded Brandon Beane to Buffalo in the offseason, lot of uncertainty surrounding the franchise now. Possible change in offensive coordinator (currently Mike Shula) depending on new GM.

You have to strike a fine balance since I assume you downloaded the huge file because it was 60FPS and not 25/30 like on the TV broadcast. Check out a software called Handbrake which is free. What you can do is mess around with the settings in there and create a short preview file to see what the finished file will look like. If you created a 120/180 second preview file you could try chromecasting that to see if it runs okay.

I recommend using the MKV container and starting out with an average bitrate of 20000kbps which would shave around 75GB off the file size if my math is correct. I have no experience with transcoding a 720p60 sports event though so you might have to go a little higher or could go lower. The previews handbrake let you make will help you decide.

It's a huge file so it could take a really long time to transcode. Whether it's worth it or not is up to you.

Does your TV have the ability to watch stuff directly from a Flash drive or external HDD? I found on my old TV that playing off usb was better than Wifi or HDMI connection. Only problem with USB is obviously your TV would have to support NTFS or ExFat file systems.

One thing it could also be is the codec the show was coded with. Example my 40 inch Sony TV was a smart tv buit just your run of the mill Smart TV that was 1080p but it failed to play a lot of shows depending on the codec used. Now I have a bigger Sony with Android installed and better codec support that I can actually use VLC that has most codecs built into it and that plays 99% of all the movies or shows I watch on it now.

Chargers first round pick Mike Williams rumoured to need season ending back surgery

    Season starts in 50 days.

Unless your a Jets fan, of course. May as well skip on 415 days or so.

Who are the bad teams from last year who have good reason to be optimistic? The browns seem to be going in the right direction, although the bar for a successful year is also pretty low. I think the 9ers will improve as well. I'm feeling very pessimistic about Chicago. Luckily I'm pretty much always wrong about the bears this time of year. So I'm sticking to my guns on this one.

What are you basing a 49ers improvement on? 1. Jets 2. Cleveland 3. SF 4. Chicago. Top of the draft next season.

Why would anyone draft a WR named Mike Williams?

    IT NEVER WORKS, NFL!
