Nothing... I was talking about how conor picked at least 3 potential targets at higher weight divisions that night . He eventually fought two of them becoming a two weight champion.

The criticism of the other fighter being nice and polite???

No, but Fed has had huge earnings
He does, but Mayweather has earned a lot more. Mind you Federer would still have a lot more as Floyd has been stupid with his money and personal life (hence this fight), and I'd far rather earn mine playing tennis and appearing in ads than doing boxing personally!

A bit further off topic again but interest got the better of me; was surprised to see Ronaldo earned more than Lebron James both before and after endorsements.

How can you know what Floyd has left? He has made in excess of 650 million in ring earnings..Fed's sports earnings circa 100 million. Throw in other monies and he's circa 300 million..

Really? I'd be surprised if he didn't earn more than Lebron James.

Since Mayweather's last fight, Fed has earned a considerable amount in sponsorship alone. easily matching Mayweathers earnings to date.

I might as well ask. Does anyone know why Floyd, has never had endorsements on his trunks? Except for the Pacquiao fight. I'm not very familiar with MW pre-2007.

He's not very appealing to sponsors

Made some quite good points I thought and I don't even like Eamonn Sweeney all that much these days.

You can get by in sport without being a boorish arsehole like McGregor is.

It's more the phenomena around him that the article was about as much as McGregor.

Very interesting that Donald Trump is elected US president and McGregor is so popular at the same time , it sort of shows the standards of what is deemed acceptable behaviour have sort of slipped in the last while.

Maybe he could get a sponsorship from a company that sells wife-beater shirts.

I suppose that's the main thing. But there was a fair amount of time between some of his crimes for sponsors to forget. Hublot forgot in 2015 and if anything I've seen more of them since than I ever had before!

Anyways, this being the internet I should clarify that I in no way condone wife or girlfriend beating. Cheers.

I'd imagine Floyd would charge sponsors a bat sh*t crazy price for him to support their brand...such is his ego. Although a huge star back in his heyday, appearing to the public at large once/twice a year in the ring pales in comparison to LeBron James or Cristiano Ronaldo whom would be seen with the brand every week for a large part of the year.

I mean everyone who follows the sports knows the likes of LeBron and Ronaldo are sponsored by Nike, with them being seen every week with their gear on helping that cause a lot. Manny Pacquiao was also sponsored by Nike for ages, and wouldn't be too far off in terms of a household name, certainly back in his prime. But not everyone would know that, a lot to do with the limited activity of a boxer in the ring in comparison to football or basketball. Brands are extremely shrewd, LeBron or Ronaldo is a much better choice... I don't care if Floyd Mayweather cures cancer at the weekends. Boxers just aren't there to show off the brand as much as others.

Besides that Floyd's been pushing his TMT brand very hard.

The TMT thing was staring me right in the face!! Seems to be wearing Reebok and Grant boxing attire the last decade. Prolly a relationship which suits. It just seems odd to be that someone who is so into cash didn't go the Pac way with emblazoned trunks. I get what you're saying though. Cheers.

Why would Conor have gotten Brandon Rios in as a sparring partner? His style is pretty much the furthest you could get from Floyd's, not sure I believe that KO in sparring story.

Isn't it mad that a guy with a boards.ie account is fighting Floyd though.

Mayweather is expected to go over one billion earned with this fight, so no.

It's a waste of time, No matter how many rounds Conor spars in the next 6 weeks It won't be a drop in the ocean compared to the 30+ years Floyd has been honing his boxing skills.

I like Rio's, But he's not a top level boxer, Mayweather would beat his ass too.

Well here is 700mn from 14 of his 49 fights and a WWE appearance - https://www.celebritynetworth.com/richest-athletes/richest-boxers/floyd-mayweather-net-worth/

250mn came from Pacquiao, this is expected to make more again, add in the other 35 fights and that's $1bn. If you're not counting expected earnings on a fight in as little as six weeks then you can't count the two years Federer was making money and Mayweather was retired.

I was off on saying multiples as I didn't have Federer making quite that number on on endorsements, but Mayweather has earned more and that number will be considerably more in a few weeks.

One of the fighters nicked named himself 'Money' and the other has claimed people died making his gold pocket watch.

    What exactly were you expecting?
