I heard €249 odd, compared to €185 odd when you do the sterling conversation if you buy it from the UK.

I will be trying to buy from UK website so. Get delivery through parcelmotel. Hopefully they accept Irish visa debit card. Could you buy in Newry for same price. Might take a visit there in few weeks n get one if can save over 60euro on it

be sure you can get it unlocked, Irish Voda sims won't work in UK Voda phones.

I went to newry two years back to buy a phone from a well known operator and they refused to sell me a PAYG handset without a UK address, lad refused blank, his mate working with him agreed with him. They shouldn't have done that imo and it was a Sunday so no manager was there for me to argue with. Luckily I didn't specifically go up there for a phone and was up there for other reasons anyway. I'd confirm by phone first that they will sell you one before going up.

Was in a Vodaphone shop in the Pavillions last night, they hadn't a breeze what I was on about when I asked.

Was in the shop in Tralee today and they said they were going to release the new Vodafone phones for this week but there were delays. These phones are expected to be released by the end of this month but no prices were set yet.

Vodafone have their own skin on android now so it won't be stock like the older handsets.

    the price is definitely set.

Luckily you can unlock this immediately on eBay should you go ahead with it. If its reasonably inline with the UK pricing I might go for one myself just so I can unlock it and use on meteor.

249.99 is the RRP for PAYG for the Irish Market.

Maybe the delay was because they want to re-jig the pricing, and maybe the price will end up being lower, but I can't see it dropping to under 220 - which is still above the UK price.

I can't see them dropping at all in fact, but if they do it won't be to knock any more than 30 off the RRP

If it's going to be that expensive people will just buy a brand name.

true enough, but it's free on all Billpay new sign ups or re-contracts/upgrades. Most branded phones of the same spec are not.

Maybe they want people who aren't going to unlock and go to another carrier, which is fair enough really, why subsidise a phone for another network.

The new Vodafone phones probably will be as expensive as you'd think.
    However; if you switch to Vodafone, they'll subsidise the V8 €50, N8 €40, and E8 €20.

Found in Vodafones PAYG T&C's under 'Vodafone Smart 8 Devices Pay as you go switching offer'

I think you get the same deal if you already are a VF customer and within 6 months of finishing your contract.
All, of course, mean you need to sign up for a further 24 months.

Not 100% sure about that shanemkelly, as it was posted in the Pay as you go Terms & Conditions. However; the smart 8 devices were supposed to be released on the 4th of July, so who am I to say they wont change their minds about this again too 😅

Sorry RGB, yes, I should've emphasised that I was talking about Bill Pay customers.

So just say I order a free sim from 48. Can I go into vodafone and say I want to change to them and get a v8 for €50 euro cheaper. Then just pop in my regular vodafone sim?

yeah but you'll have a new VF contract on a new number - or a re-contract on the same number as your regular SIM.

That sounds like a good idea. Just remember, in order to change to Vodafone they need to call your current (48) number to confirm it's yours, and I'm not sure if you can activate a 48 sim with no credit, so you may need to top up by €5. Also, you would also have to top-up your then Vodafone number with credit too. However it's still a good saving and IMO worth the bit of hassle for the discount!

Meteor sims are free online and require no top up.

Called into a Vodafone store earlier. They had a brochure stating €249.

Ripp off! Thats €70 more then the UK price... Wouldn't touch it unless you can get one in the UK yourself. That's a laughable price difference.

Ridiculous pricing. I'll hold off this one. From reviews it doesn't seem like the ideal device, not necessarily bad but for that money it would want to be better. Crazy difference between here and the UK.

Looks like you have to buy a bundle in the UK. Only another £10, so still €58ish cheaper. Unless you have to buy some kind of bundle here as well.

I have someone coming over from the UK in a couple of weeks, but I can't decide if this phone is even worth the UK price + bundle + unlock code.
