I actually think Vunipola is a problem in the scrums. All Blacks are targetting him and seemed to be getting away with some strange angles on his side. Lineout is about even. Lions shaded the breakdown, probably because of the man down. Where the All Blacks really edged things is ball carrying.

I reckon if the Lions somehow manage to get some go forward ball, they win.

The reaction I received from some Irish fans after that match was at first hilarious. Then I realised they were serious and it was just sad. It reminded me of the outrage the Henri handball in 2010 and the calls for Ireland to be given dispensation to go to the WC any way. Cringe worthy stuff.

Must kiwi fans were happy for the Irish after Chicago but the reaction after the Dublin match really killed a lot of that goodwill which was disappointing.

I get that this is a thing and people want to be 'liked' as fans, but I really couldn't care less what NZ fans think of my reaction to a rugby game. There was a 10 minute period in the 2nd half of the game in Dublin where it looked like NZ players were just aiming at heads.

And teams can be beaten without dangerous tackles.

And in an ideal world we'd have games without either, just like in Chicago. But thats rugby, as you said before.

Bad example. Twice in that match Trimble used shoulder charges to tackle ABs.

Like I said, no team are angels.

They shouldn't be beating us in the scrums. Out wide they always have an advantage but not in the scrums.

Fans are supposed to be biased. That goes with the territory.

Why? It takes years to hone a scrum to work as a unit. The Lions are a Mish mash of players selected for carrying, tackling and jumping but there's not much scrummaging power there.

Don't agree with any of that to be honest, there is plenty of power in that Lions pack and they should be doing better.

I don't buy it takes years to build a big scrum either....Mike Ross is a prime example of someone who was parachuted in an immediately improved the Irish scrum. A scrum should be one of the first things that a team gets right.

Mike Ross was one player coming into an established team. The other forwards were all there. The Lions have to cobble together an entire pack in a few weeks.

Of course NZ have the better unit.

I think the NZ tight 5 was underestimated in the NH. They are outstanding but are definitely missing Coles. The majority of the Lions' tight 5 is Saracens so I think it's fair to expect their scrum to be better than it has been.

The huge difference in the scrum is the sheer power coming from the kiwi locks. That is a lot further ahead of what the Lions can produce than I thought it would be.

VDF got his first cap and start against England in the 6Ns at 22.

As did Stuart McCloskey. Even if you're not good enough you're old enough.

Wait and see on McCloskey...there may be an opening at 12 in November with Henshaw a possible doubt...

    A Bundee Aki sized opening!

Vunipola, George and Itoje all play together at club level, we all know Furlong can scrummage and AWJ is a 120 kg lock, I don't think it unrealistic to expect a little better from the Lions at scrum time.

It's not like our tight five have never met each other before. At a minimum we should be competitive in the scrum.

It occurred to me in the build up that Rory Best has been on two Lions tours and didn't get a test cap in either.

I can't think of any recent players who would share this dubious honour?

    Stuart Hogg is another.

    Matt Stevens?

Jonathan Davies voted players player of the tournament. Well deserved award, but it could easily have gone to three or four others as well. I think Itoje, O'Brien and Faletau were excellent as well. Sexton came out of the tour with his reputation enhanced too.

Deserved. Had an excellent test series. SOB was the only other who was in the same bracket but, even before he went off today, JD was the better.

Third Welsh on the trot to get the nod.

By who? SOB miles ahead of anyone for that accolade

A draw, and both sides feeling like they kissed their sister. You heard it here first.

    LOL.

If I was Irish I'd whine in a month of Sundays about the non-penalty. Which is exactly what this forum would have done until I was deaf.

    Great series. Great entertainment.

Steven Hansen apparently used the phrase about kissing his sister to describe the result.

Which makes me deeply concerned about how you Kiwis go about your home life....
