Nate shouldn't be demanding anything. He's sitting on his backside waiting for the rubber match, all the while turning down other fights. He should be told go spin on it.

Should mcreggor be told to spin on it? has had two titles in the ufc for about 2.5 years yet has to defend one?

Well don't make sure you get your facts right.

Factually he has had 3 titles for less than 2 years and you can argue the case he was kind enough to put that belt on the line against Jose :) If he lost the fight, he'd have lost his belt :)

Conor a better clincher than Floyd......

Maybe he is, in MMA. But not all clinching is the same...

They will be clinchng in boxing. And my money is on the career boxer...

Press conference supposedly at Wembley Stadium in two weeks time.

My money is on the referee splitting them up quickly.

Absolutely.... I hate to begrudge anybody anything they have worked for but I begrudge Nate Diaz the money he made fighting McGregor... every cent of it, cause he doesn't for one second appreciate it..... still moaning now about money more than he ever was. $20k purse he was paid in his last fight before 196 (with a $20k bonus on top). He effectively became a multi millionaire fighting Conor when you include 202..... but he walks around with a face like a slapped arse moaning. Hit the lottery when RDA pulled out but yet acts like UFC stiffed him. Can't abide him or his brother.

I know it goes against the general consensus but I can see the referee favouring McGregor rather than Mayweather.

Vegas is all about money - casino owners, hotels, venues etc have tremendous sway. McGregor is the future. At 28 he has the potential to bring in tens of billions to the Vegas economy over the remainder of his career. Doubly so if he has a good showing against Floyd.

We saw what happened when McGregor threatened never to fight in Vegas again...Lundvall was called by the governor to say she would not be reappointed and the fine was heavily reduced.

I am not suggesting a fixed contest but I think the referee will be slow to take action against Conor.

mma clinching is more technical and physical. he wont have to worry about getting kneed in the face, slashed by elbows, or taken down to the canvas

Im not gonna say Conor has a better clinch game but you are very quick to dismiss him

I can't see that at all. This is a boxing match, so the boxing referee (not saying it is fixed either) will enforce their version of the rules. If the clinch is too aggressive from one party over the other, then they will be broken up early.

That said, if the clinch is McGregors favoured approach, he still has to get close enough to Mayweather to even try that.

Firas Zahabi feels Conor will destroy him in the clinch with underhooks, overhooks, head-drags, knee-trips everything. Incidentally Firas is working pretty closely with Freddie Roach for GSP's comeback, so it's fair to say he knows both sports.

Firas also thinks Floyd embarrasses Conor after the 4th round so it's not like he's going with biased opinions for the MMA fighter.

Its a boxing match who cares if he looks stronger in the clinch for 6 or 9 minutes, if the end result is him getting embarrassed its irrelevant.

Not sure about the wisdom of doing the first presser in Wembley Stadium.

They might get what? 10,000 - 15,000 fans for it?

It'll be bad optics if they're in a 90,000 seater stadium with 15,000 people there. Strange stuff. I could understand doing it in the Aviva and filling it out but if you're going to draw 15,000 to a press conference at least hold it in a venue that holds 15,000 or 20,000.

It will be in the area, not the stadium I'd say. Doing it in the stadium would be stupid.

True. But if he does win, the clinch work will likely have been a factor in his victory.

When I heard Wembley, I had first of all assumed that it would be in a convention/event centre that was co-located.

Are they actually doing it in the Stadium?

Yeah the stadium! They'll be sitting on a stage on the pitch.

This is according to The Sun but the BBC have just confirmed it through "sources close to Mayweather".

Wembley Arena I'd say it will be, the place where Bellator had their event not long ago.

I don't think it's beyond the realms of possibility for them to do it in the stadium, only if they make a proper event of it with big music acts on beforehand and such. It's arguably the biggest press conference in sporting history (if it's the first one for the fight) so I wouldn't blame them for being ambitious with it.

Stamford Bridge would probably do though tbf, Wembley is overkill.

The Sun and BBC say the following:
It will be free to get in to witness the two go face-to-face for the first time since the announcement that rocked the world of sport first came out.

A stage will be erected at one end of the pitch.

Will look ridiculous in the massive stadium then again who cares no ones gonna not buy it because of a presser in Wembley.

I'll watch the fight but I will not buy it.

Does anyone with experience of sports bars/clubs know if Ireland operates the same system as America?

As in - For the Floyd-Manny fight, a US sports bar with a 500-capacity had to pay $15,500 to show the fight.

Does it work similarly here? Big lump sum to show the fight or do the bars just cheat and pay the $100?

If Gervonta Davis and one or 2 other legit match ups are on the ppv I'll probably buy it depending on streams that night and how bad they are.

Bars in Ireland get charged way over the odds for their sports subscription compared to home users.

for instance a home subscription to sky tv could be roughly 100 a month whereas a pub or bar would have to pay 1000.

I think to buy in the ppv they just pay the flat rate after that..

I'll just watch it in a pub or something, joys of living outside of the city and knowing the bar owners is you find out where will be having a lock in :D

Not coming to Dublin might seem like a wise move by Mayweather but I can see McGrgeor using that to his advantage and going off on him saying he was too afraid to come to his home city, to afraid to come to Ireland and sit in front of Irish people etc etc.... all bollox of course but it's something I can see Conor exploiting for sure.

Well, Ali and Foreman became best friends..... so why not.

Maybe one day we'll even see McGregor helping Mayweather up some steps to collect an award about a film made about this fight too.
