    Very divisive topic obviously.

If had an influence or a say I'd vote to remove him from the panel.

The chap has problems obviously, but that is no excuse for stealing from an old man, or anyone for that matter.

I drink and I bet, but if any of that leads to me doing stupid things that's on me. Its my choice to drink and bet. You don't have a choice to get MS or a brain tumour.

It reminds me of the story about the 2 social workers walking down the street and came across a man lying in the gutter having been beaten to a pulp.
One said to the other. " My God the person who did that needs help"

It's not about excusing him, it's about handling the situation correctly. Nobody benefits by being called a scum bag or booed, not anyone.

If you are in a car accident then it's your own fault as you chose to get into a car? Obviously it's false logic to assume this but it's similar logic to put down someone for making bad choices.

Somebody who steals an old person's money to bet is a scumbag. End of!

We can be so progressive with certain things in Ireland but close minded in others. Mental health and issues tied with it have made leaps and bounds with social stigmas over the last few years.
I think with the publicity gambling addiction is starting to get I think we'll see the same pattern here.
Unfortunately both have hit my family so I have an understanding of it, maybe not to the same extent as danganabu has.

People that are afflicted with this disease, and that's what it is, a disease, can justify obtaining their money by any means necessary to just "have that one more bet"..."I'll make it back the next time"..."it'll be my last flutter". Until the problem is realised by the person themselves, it won't stop. The sad thing is, while they have this disease, the moral compass of right and wrong doesn't work and they can and will steal from a stranger, a friend or even their own parents.

Darren by all accounts is a gentleman away from all his problems. Travels to different clubs and camps with kids and won't take a cent for it for example.

I am not condoning what he did at all, I just want to give my insight as to how he could have justified his actions.

Fennelly back for kk is a huge boost.

I'd fancy to take Limerick by 10 points.

They'd want to improve a hell of a lot from the Wexford game so

I more than anyone have refused to listen to the "decline" references over the years but the Wexford performance (after getting good warning from the league) was massively worrying from them

Limerick will be approaching this with confidence make no mistake about it.

I think the Leinster Final tomorrow will put KK's performance against Wexford in another light

I fancy Galway to win comfortably

Billy Byrne hops the ball off the ground with his hand at 1.30, is that legal?

Where will Limerick be getting this confidence?

Not able to get out of 1B and terrible last day against Clare. Don't expect they'll have many fans in nowlan Park either.

Kilkenny looked average enough against Clare.
At least by their own high standards anyway.

If Cats don't beat Limerick it will be biggest shock in generation. Limerick couldn't win 1B and were hammered by Galway.

A more likely shock - and I hope I'm wrong - is in Parnell.

Galway couldn't win 1B either. they lost at home to Wexford. Are you aware of this? Since Kilkenny also failed to beat Wexford would it be safe to assume that the Cats wouldn't win 1B.

Anyway, kilkenny should win easy today, but in the highly unlikely event that the game is tight in the closing stages, you can rest assured that Brian Gavin will pull them over the line.

That's three times I've seen you make this evidence free assertion that Brian Gavin is going to be biased against Limerick. What is this based on?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,930 ✭✭✭jr86

Limerick beat Cork in the league, perspective works both ways ;)

Anyhow if KK show up like they did against Wexford they won't hammer anyone (well not including the cannon fodder obviously)

That result against Wexford was far more worrying than most are making out. It was Wexford, hardly any world beaters with all due respect. Not Tipperary, not Galway, not even Clare, waterford or Cork - Wexford. And the scoreline completely flattered KK. They have pretty much zero strength in depth and dare I say for the first time in about 20 years, they are now actually carrying passengers on their starting 15

I think KK will probably win but that's more about the state of Limerick. Waterford or Tipp will do the Cats next week if the draw doesn't pit those two against each other

I can't recall a time Gavin completely rode us to be honest, he's definitely one of the better referees in my opinion.

I think the very fact that Michael Fennelly is starting tells you they have plenty to be worried about
