    EHHH what now...????

Her show last night was Phil Collins Aftershow party themed. She played all Phil, Mick and The Mechanics and Blondie with lots of Phil related merch to win ("call now to win a mug!"). It was pretty tough listening.

I listened to the 'after show party' while driving home from the gig last night,

It was after the show alright, it was no party though!

Sounds like an "after show nightmare" to me...of course thats Branners reasoning...play it till theyre sick of it...they didnt consider that the listeners maybe dont like PC,MATM OR Blondie that much....

Did they play any Roachford? Their lead singer Andrew Roachford is the current lead singer of M&TM.

I'd say PJ was pulled for last night only, due to the fact that Phil Collins had played. Perhaps if some big rock group were to play on some Sunday, it could turn out to be the same story as last night. Don't worry, I'm sure that PJ is safe!

Maybe he refused to play one of his tracks so he got sent to the naughty step.......:pac:

Sure it cant be that popular if they pulled it for a Phil Collins party knowing that the majority of fans are at the concert.

What a strange way of thinking to have a radio show special at the same time the artist is playing live.

Wonder will Alice get the boot for the Coldplay and U2 gigs ? on the saturday nights show

It absolutely is not the most popular show on Nova. Sunday night is the absolute graveyard shift for radio. There is no one listening.

The Phil Collins show was not on at the same time as the live gig, it was on afterwards, to try and capitalise on the 40,000 people streaming out of the Aviva who would be prime targets for Nova, both in terms of age and music taste.

    It was a good idea.

The promo ads last week said Join me from nine on Sunday for the Phil Collins party, I am only going on what I heard as I did not tune in on Sunday as PJ was not in the chair.

Realistically how many out of the 40K concert goers do you think they could attract to listen to Nova as they streamed out of the Aviva ?

Most people on buses or trains would not listen to the radio as they are in groups so it is down to taxis for short journeys and then the concert goers who brought the car to gig probably 5,000 cars at a very generous count !

Now if one in ten listen to Nova thats approx 500 people surely PJ has a hell of a lot more listeners than that ?

Yeah, but they're not trying exclusively for people who were at the gig, it was trying to piggy back on a high profile event that was going on, to use the already-generated publicity to drum up some extra listeners in an otherwise useless time slot. If you're a Phil Collins fan and you didn't go, you might be more inclined to listen to this than to Pat James who, let's face it, is completely unknown to 99.9% of the population.

I don't see what people are objecting to tbh.

The three weekend night shows are the best in my opinion - Tony, Alice and Pat. And from the requests on Tony and Pats shows, there is a sizeable listenership.

Yikes....hope youre not getting at Pat just because you dont like me....;)

I'm guessing PJ is known by 100% of the Nova listeners, they mightnt listen ,but they know of him...

I'm not getting at Pat, he's just a complete unknown for most people. On the other hand, everyone knows who Phil Collins is.

Well come on, he has sold 100 million records worldwide, hardly a fair comparison.

Yes, exactly. So if you're trying to attract new listeners, who's the better bet?

I'm an idiot. I thought ye were talking about a presenter on the station called Phil Collins. And I thought I was being hilarious and original by comparing him to the musician. Now I've re-read the posts and feel silly. It's been a long day. :(

Swear to god I'll ban you all if you make fun of me. :P :P

Was there a post party for AC/DC or Bruce Springsteen? Think they have outsold Phil Collins by multiples?

Yes Tony and Pat did them on The Friday and Sunday nights of the Bruce gig and if I remember correctly Sinead did the AC/DC

Oh - well, I was at all the last gigs and listening to the radio was the last thing I wanted to do afterwards :D Mind you, I don't remember hearing them advertised beforehand.

I've heard Bring Me the Horizon and All Time Low a good few times on SPIN 1038. Two bands Nova never bother playing.
