Brendan Carr, the cyclists' friend, will no longer be Lord Mayor of Dublin, as of tonight.

The vote doesn't take place till this evening. Do you have an inside track? ;)

Isn't there an agreement in place that the parties basically take turns in having the mayor, so if he's the only shinner nominated it's all but a forgone conclusion?

Yeah, I remember reading before that the Fine Gael and Labour used to take it in turns to have a mayor. Gentlemen's (and gentleladies') agreement.

Many of the Sinn Féin councillors have generally been in favour of cycling projects that have been before the council's transport subcommittee in recent times.

makes sense, doubt SF votes are ones driving in and out of offices every morning and evening in the city centre

The ones driving 30 miles 'cos they can't afford to live near their families and watching the disintegration of their local schools, destruction of their health service and the connivance of cronies protecting their own may feel let down by traditional social democratic parties and be flirting with SF now they've demobbed.

Not saying they'll get the change they're hoping for but the people who get up early are fierce peed off at the moment

There is no right or entitlement to live or afford to buy near your family.

On SF and cycling, some might be well-disposed, but there's also Micheal O Flanagain.

    2014 thread: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057144087

    And:
Mr O Flanagain said that Dublin was a very dangerous city to cycle in and even more so without a helmet.

    Is he still around?

On mature reflection, 'well-disposed' might be an unfortunate choice of words.

Wasn't it a SF Councillor who had a tussle with a cyclist a wee while back? Or am I dreaming? Stepping out of a parked car and they came together?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 68,190 ✭✭✭✭seamus

No, that's Nial Ring, who's FF afaik.

Thankfully his mind is currently focussed elsewhere than cyclists.

Apparently ethics only applies to cycling, not to servicing your debts.

Don't know about SEM but Skil were the circular saw manufacturer.

EDIT: ..and just like Hoover etc. many people refer to all brands of circular saws as Skil saws.
