    Beautiful wagon though.

    Reg owned a lot of machines in those days. Many's the car that bore the legend "For Reg" for a couple of years.

    I thought that too when I saw it on the telly last week, but it could have been imported in '71.

    Spotted today in Rathfarnam. John (the owner) bought this new in 1967 and has driven it since.

    John and his ice cream van featured on the RTE documentary 'Too Old To Drive'. (Which is most likely now available on RTEPlayer). Great to see such a classic vehicle still in 'everyday' use .....well 'everyday' in the summertime anyway ;)

    Yes indeed, John also proudly boasted to me that he was the youngest driver on the show :)

    Single tail pipe, humped rear panel, dechromed, colour keyed bumpers... looks a bit too new for a 1973 plate?

    The single tail pipe and, especially, the rear foglight, are the significant differences.

    I think I got a pic of that car or one very like it a few weeks ago. I'll have a look on the laptop in a while.

    Whats the difference in a Dolly and a Dyane? Never looked it up but my mam always calls a 2cv a Dyane..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,731 ✭✭✭Type 17

    2CV = original car.
    Dyane = updated, modernised version, with all-different (but similar) body panels and most noticeable difference being its faired-in headlights.
    2CV Dolly = special edition of the 2CV with two-tone paint and decals, sold very well and towards the end of production, so they are still relatively common today, as they are among the newest survivors.
