The trick is to not buy your phone from them. But I don't see it as scabby. I think you're looking at this from a "glass-half-empty" perspective! And it's more than enough for "brief travel stints". the vast majority of people could live happily on 6GB's per month, so 6GBs on the standard 2 week holiday far exceeds their needs (especially when they should be out enjoying themselves, and not stuck watching videos on their phone)!.

Because, I have ulimited data in Ireland compared to just 5GB with the equivalent plan with Vodafone. And when in EU, I have a gig more than I would with Vodafone; all for €10 less per month.

But it's enough for the overwhelming majority of people. Yes, somebody who, for work, spends the bulk of their time abroad may need more, but that's very much the exception.

But that is not "generous". For the vast majority of cases, Vodafone is ripping off their customers - charging far higher and offering far less. Yes, there are exceptions (as mentioned above), but for the average person, the last word I would use to describe Vodafone's offering is "generous".

I think you're missing my point. The overwhelming majority of people don't require this. The overwhelming majority of people only need/use a few gigs abroad in a year (let alone per month).

And for those, exceptional people who do require regular huge data usage abroad, it's not down to vodafone's "generosity" as you put it, but they are charging people an extra €50 per month for the privilege.

Years ago I used my iPhone whilst over in Holland staying at my sister's place and went online quite a few times and got stung for a whopping - and I mean whopping, bill when I got home. I was furious and reached an agreement with my service provider. :mad:

You're completely ignoring the fact that Vodafone charges more for its domestic data than any other provider and that's why they can offer more when roaming.
