Now hands up, i am a britt fan boy.

But look at the quarterbacks he's had throwing to him during his career. I genuinly think if britt had had a better landing spot coming out of college he would have had a top 15 wr career.

I agree and right now Britt hasn't got that with the Browns either unless Osweiller shocks us all.

But injuries also haven't helped him either. I had high hopes for Britt for when he came out of Rutgers and actually hoped BB relationship with Rutgers meant that the Pats would get him but he just has not lived up to what he should have been. Situation, Injury and consistency issues played a large role.

Edelman about to get a new extension.

This is great news and you know it will be a long contract to see out his career and it will favour the Pats

It's been great watching Edelman's career. He went from being a udfa who struggled to catch a ball to Mr Consistency and a leader.

But isnt that a point you can make on every wr? I meam look at hopkins last year or A Robinson. They fell apart without anyone competent throwing the ball.

Why are you so sure Os will beat Kessler out? Kess showed some good stuff last year before injury set him back.

But in the context of Bizzy's post Jimmy G and the 3 WR are better than what the Browns.

In the context of how good Britt is having a bad QB is only part of the reason. Injuries and his inconsistencies play into also. Last season was the the first time in a long time Britt looked sharp. He was injury free and some solid games and showed with 2 average QBs throwing to him he could do something. But other games he was nothing more than average and even when the ball was being spread about he was average.

As I said Britt, Mitchell, Amendola and Hawkins to me are all on the same level. None of them have ever really lit it up and but have shown potential and injuries have gotten in their way.

Mitchell is still young so he has a few years to make a name but at 28 Britt's window is closing and he needs a couple of good seasons in Cleveland. Amendola and Hawkins are both 31 and both coming to the end of their careers unless they have extremely productive seasons.

The best WR in the league are the exception to the rule though they will get you catches in tight spots and raise the level of a QBs game because he will get space and bring in tough catches. Very few of them exist though.

The Browns have a tough decision. Let that large contract sit on the bench and burn money or play him and try get the best out of him. Right now there is no clear winner in that battle but there have been suggestions that Osweiller is looking better. Time will tell but I can't see the Browns letting Osweiller sit.

    1. Ya that's fair.

    2. Honestly dont think the contract has any bearing on brock's playing time. I mean if it was 50/50 the contract would generally win out but i think this is the one place in the league where it would go the other way and they see what they have in Kessler. But at the end of the day they traded for the pick.

Dont see this being better than the browns tbh.

    Crowell is a solid rb
britt is a great wr and there is potential in coleman
njoku has potential to be a top pass catching te

Overall I thought that with Jimmy G, the NE group would be better, but I completely forgot about Njoku when I made that assessment, he could be a big weapon for them.

A one off post about the Pats.

A contact that I have in Denver recently had a long conversation with someone who has a close relationship with the upper levels of the Broncos team. During the course of the conversation the relationship between the Broncos and the Pats came up. Outside of the usual 'mutual respect' stuff this person said that the expectation within the Pats is that Brady will play for another three years (assuming no serious injury) and that when Brady goes BB will also retire as HC. He also said that McDaniels is the heir apparent when BB goes. It is this expectation that has led McDaniels to opting not to pursue other HC possibilities this off-season.

    For what its worth -

yeah that seems to be a general consensus, maybe not in terms of timelines, but it would be no surprise to me to see it play out like that. BB is already one of the oldest in the league and is on the other side of 65 now. Brady too is soon going to be the other side of 40, both are close to retirement. And it would make sense for McDaniels to continue his progression and slot seamlessly into the Pats set up. Hopefully he will have learned from his Denver debacle should that be the case.

I wouldn't be surprised if Bill stayed on after Brady retires, not for long though maybe 1 or 2 post-Brady.

There will be expectation in the media for the team to fall apart after Brady, it would be like Bill to stick around just to prove people wrong before sailing off into the sunset.

There is nothing new here and this has been thrown around a lot by many including guys who see themselves as experts also. But realistically without hearing it from the horses mouth it is nothing more than speculation.

I have heard stories from coaches who have friends in the organization and the different stories pop from the above to the fact Bill plans to stay on hence why he is adamant to keep Jimmy to Brady retiring if he wins a 6th ring.

I don't believe anyone knows whats Bill plans to do and I would include Kraft in that boat. When has Bill ever done anything that we all expected him to do or lived up to the speculation we have all been fed. Bill will retire when Bill wants to retire and Brady will retire when he has no option to or he feels after a 6th ring that its time to go out the King of all GOATs.

    Who knows at this point.

Yeah it's impossible to know if and when BB will retire. Brady has a shelf life but he is breaking the mould each and every year that he continues to play at the high level he is still at.

Kraft is the man who will make the decision on who the next head coach is if and when Bill decides its time to go. Kraft has only ever hired two head coaches since he bought the Patriots, and both are now Superbowl winning coaches, and I'd be confident that whoever follows BB will be a really, really good coach at worst.

One thing we do know is that Bill said we wont see him coaching in his 70's....

I think it was from that NFL film that followed the team around for a full season.

I know it would never happen, but I'd love to see him go back to the Browns to sort that place out.

It was in the "A Football Life" doc that he said it. Said he didn't want to coach in his 70's like Marv Levy. Great doc that was.

Good thing is we still have 5 years of him so its not like he is on top of his 70s tomorrow type thing. Plenty of time for hard decisions.

    That's the one, great film.

But yeah, that kinda has me thinking we have around 5 seasons left with Bill, 3-4 with Brady.

    Pats have signed David Harris.

Great pickup IMO, I was hoping it would happen when I saw he got cut.

And in a position of need! I presume a 1 year deal?

Single game tickets went on sale today but I missed out on tickets to the Chargers game. Is Stubhub my best bet now? Anyone know of any other channels to get tickets?

I might have spare Chargers tickets but I wont know until the middle of August if my buddy is giving the other 2 of his 4 to his bro in law. If you can hang on until then they are yours if you want them.

As for Seatgeek it scrapes a couple of the lesser known ticket sites outside of Stubhub and Ace Ticket. All of those sites have the same prices for the most part.

Wow TO, that would be great. Let me know if his brother in law doesn't take them as I'm very interested.
Are tickets easy enough to come by in Boston or around the stadium on game weekend? Would it be too risky just to fly over and hope to find a pair on the day (if your tickets aren't available)?
