Has it been 100% confirmed that cork is the location regardless of the other semi final

the local media (clarepeople) here today have said they were told by the munster council that both football and hurling finals are set for cork if they can pass an inspection on safety on the 12th of june ,

major advantage to cork in my opinion if they make it to the final

The Munster Final is being played in Cork unless it fails a safety inspection which isn't going to happen.

    As i suspected, thanks.

In regards to the Munster final, if we're playing Waterford I think it'll suit us because of the extra space around the middle and the strength of our inside forwards in breaking ball and getting space. If we're playing Cork I think it'll be a shoot out and could be a great game for scoring.

    Why is that?
I thought it was usually only selected once the two teams were known?
We'd normally play Cork in either Limerick or Thurles.

Because they are opening the Monument this year and they need to have a big event to open it, both Munster finals are being played there.

Playing Cork in their new shiny stadium and 35000 Cork fans - massive task for Clare

Playing Waterford there will be a massive task as well but we don't have a great record anywhere except Croke Park :P so I wouldn't be too worried about it.

Clare management will be objecting if Cork are in it I'm told.

They can object as much as they want I'd imagine it'll come down to politics.

    Pat Fitz...

Although I hear that his grandson was dropped from the under 21 panel so I wouldn't be surprised if he gives in

Its a complete joke of we have to play Cork down there. Feck, it's hard enough to get to a final, nevermind we haven't won the bloody competition in nearly 20 years. Cork with their new stadium, and overwhelming majority of support, would have a huge advantage. History shows its a desperate hard place to get a win, especially now that their players wouldn't want to let they're supporters down in their new stadium. Our lads have been thrown under a bus if we have to play Cork there.

Cork have to get over Waterford first.....would not be overly confident they will tbh

It's all whatifs at the moment.

I think we'd be better off playing Waterford, as I said earlier I think it would suit us to be playing against the sweeper system, Cork would be just a shoot out.

Clareman you're focusing a lot on us having the usual sweeper system,, I wouldn't be so sure

I'm more thinking that we'll have an extra player in defense (6 on 5) which will hopefully mean more ability to run the ball our/secure possession through midfield.

That article doesn't clarify much I'm afraid.

Problem solved for Cork if neither of their teams qualify for the Munster final , which is quite possible !

Clare did not object at Munster Council level so not sure an objection would be listened to at this stage should Cork beat Waterford which is a big ask

Is a Clare v Waterford final definitely in Thurles?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,077 ✭✭✭KrustyUCC

No Clare v Waterford will be in Cork afaik

    Is that confirmed?

Not 100% but very unlikely to change

Cork asked for Munster final at Munster Council to open up the stadium

Only Limerick objected so vote was passed

I suppose it might change if Waterford and Clare both propose Thurles after Munster semi final but still reckon Munster Council won't change

footballers face into the abyss tomorrow against the kingdom , only thing we can hope for is a repeat performance of 2014 , we let ourselves down in the first 15 minutes given kerry a 7 point head start in Fitzgerald stadium last june , and while we were on our 4 game in as many weeks in croke park last july we let our selves down that day too , we are better then that and we showed it against cork earlier in the year so hopefully a big game is on the way from our lads tomorrow
