I've actually met Al and he is a very nice guy. But he's on Today FM so I can't see him moving over.

Any word of Tim Kelly? Been ages since he was on Fri Night 80s. Now it's all Deeeeeeeeeee. They prob hired him just to get the branding of Fri Night 80s and booted him when Dee wanted the job.

It was confirmed to me by a reliable source that Tim Kelly has indeed left Nova. It's a shame, I liked him!

Think that was the idea hiring him - he was liked by his listeners. FN 80s was the only time I listened to Today FM.

They are really making a shambles of Nova - it's turning into another pop station.

Resings of WCBS NY - strting to grow on me - will never beat the Jams even with the tip of the hat to the original Nova jingles

It was always a mainstream rock station and in their original 80s incarnation they played a fair amount of pop. But if it is heading in a poppier direction, well hey, so be it, I can't do anything about it. Personally I preferred the station when David Tighe was in charge. But KB isn't doing too bad of a job. If they start playing Sheeran etc they are really starting to take the p1$$.

Just to clarify, Radio Nova now and Radio Nova back in the 80s are not the same station, so the phrase "in their original 80s incarnation" could be misleading for someone who is not familiar with the old station, which was a superpirate. What they do have in common (apart from the name which was not a coincidence!) is a couple of the presenters and John Clarke's jingles!

It isn't even called Friday night 80s anymore!!

What's it called now then? Am sure I heard an ad for it last weekend. Have an internal tune- out mode for sh1te so may have missed it.

But then again, they have changed the jingles so might have not noticed.

Apart from the word "Nova" theres no similarities at all imo...Nova are playing modern music with some classic stuff thrown in to keep up the charade that theyre a "Classic rock" station....Radio Nova just played music of the day, which just happened to be 70/80's music....Classic rock now back in the day was just "rock"....

I don't know why I'm bothering, but, for what must be the 50th time, classic does not mean old.

Colm Hayes has just confirmed that he is to take the reigns as Programme Director at Nova from tomorrow, June 1st.

Now let's see if the other rumour is a goer about Hayes taking over from Marty on breakfast..

Who is Colm Hayes replacing as Programme Director? Jeff O'Brien maybe?

What does a Programme Director do on such a formatted station like Nova that the CEO or Head of music doesnt do? It's hardly Radio 1!!

That john Clarke jukebox ad made me laugh, it's so pretentious even though it's not meant to be!!

I agree. Lot of great newer bands with the "classic" rock sound e.g. The Record Company, The Temperance Movement, Blackberry Smoke...
