Little things grate on my, like when Siobhan? Is reading the weather and says "temperature will be between 7 to 10 degrees" . if she uses between then surely it should be and instead of to.

Saying that, newsreaders across the station's seem to struggle a lot with reading and pronunciation , particularly with sports stars names and teams. Its the only part of the job the public hear , they could at least make the effort to get it right.

I think they need to tone down the hyperbole before announcing each and every gig on the station. Don't get me wrong, I like Steely Dan and the Doobie Brothers and I'll probably attend their gig in October. But the way they built up the announcement while stoking the flames of listener speculation, I was expecting to hear of a Led Zeppelin or Oasis reunion for Croke Park. They did a similar routine before announcing the Queen & Adam Lambert gig a few weeks ago.

I really enjoyed that Roger Waters track this morning....imagine a world where long songs are played interrupted on mainstream media.....absolute bliss

Track is called: smell the roses

I left the radio yesterday morning thinking it was Oasis in croker

I also thought that they'd be announcing the third Croke Park gig yesterday. Either that or a particular band were reforming and were confirmed to play an Irish date (ie: Oasis). My mind was racing with speculation.

I see someone has started a petition 'To give Radio Nova permission to Broadcast Nationwide across Ireland' (sic).

Max Headroom, are you the culprit?

    Nova deserves a national licence.

Miles ahead of the rest in genuine quality.

The cynic in me would say it was an inside job.
Hopefully they do get it though, as repetitive as can be at least they just play the music and get in with it unlike the other national stations.

I hope they get the national license as where I live apart from the national stations and the spill over of some of the independent radio stations the choice of niche music stations is non existing.

There won't be another national FM licence.

Might not be another new one but their sister station 4FM's licence is coming up for renewal.

Is 4FM national? Or am I just in a terrible reception area?

    Not too far off it.

Think it's Dublin incl commuter belt plus Cork, Limerick, Waterford, Galway. Something like that anyhow.

4fm is a multi-city licence rather then a national licence.

A multi city licence that doesn't include Waterford or Kilkenny.

correct and their exclusion makes not 1 jot of sense quite frankly.

No doubth they will renew it or can Nova take over their multi city license and make 4fm a Dublin City and comuter belt station only. It would make sense if Nova wanted to expand ouside Dublin.

Why not, is there no space on the FM band then?

i reccan the licence as it is will most likely be readvertised. nova may apply for that licence (assuming their format would fit the requirements of the licence if advertised along the same terms) but they won't get to keep both stations. should nova win the licence then 4fm will sease with possibly nova moving from it's current dublin frequencies to 4fm's former frequencies along with coming on the frequencies outside dublin. nova's frequencies might be for use by another licence assuming something new will be advertised. but it's a bit away yet so one couldn't say for sure what will or won't happen.

I don't understand the whole frequency thing, how say.... RTE1 has so many frequencies to cover the whole country. Is there space on FM for Nova to go fully nationwide?
