The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy My brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay My vengeance upon you.

I wish people would check urban dictionary before naming their kids, espically if it rymes with bogan:

    Brogan
A Slang/Street term for bad mother****er who has an AK-47 and gets all the bitches. Deals guns for ****s and buzz's. Chain smokes swishers and phillies. A status symbol. Popular in the ghettos of boston and chicago. East Coast terminology.

Monetary wealth and class are two things that people think ought to be related.
Do they though ? I think most people know that they are not. Class can only be inherited. Either you are born into the right class, or you have no class.
Class is a state of mind. A human quality.
No ! It is about breeding. Either you are born to the wealth and gene pool of those who have been ruling Europe for centuries (the closer your family goes back to the fall of the Roman empire being powerfull, the better). By definition, you cannot buy it - it hardly needs examples of this simple fact.

A persons class is different from personal class. You can be 'classy' without any status or money, and you can be utterly classless with a title and wealth.

    Certainly not.

And I think a sure sign of not having class is using the term 'classy'. No one of class would us it.

I've seen some awful examples of this phenomenon in my time.

Luxury hotels are places you see the worst offenders in this regard. When I travel to meet clients with work we're generally staying in one of the more exclusive hotels. When I travel for pleasure I actually generally prefer to stay in more understated and rustic surroundings. Such as when I spent an extended period building a log cabin from scratch in the Canadian wilderness. That said when I stay in a more upmarket accommodation I'll act accordingly. Unfortunately that's not the case when you have people who can afford the price tag but lack the refinement.

    A few examples:

Dress appropriately! People sauntering around the lobby in summer wear such as shorts and flip flops. People arriving to check without wearing a collared shirt or slacks and thinking it is okay to wear faded denim and tatty tee shirts. Some people have even tried to enter the bar or dining room dressed like this. Utterly nauseating. Thankfully any decent hotel will have staff to politely remind such 'guests' of the social dress code in finer establishments. If you're going to dine at least bring a jacket with you.

You can spot the fish out of water a mile away. Ambling around the place gobs agape pointing at the décor, gasping, and worst of all taking photos. No doubt to upload to their social media accounts for their equally 'sophisticated' friends back home.

You also see the families who picked up a deal online but can't quite afford the price tag; they just want to pretend they can. Penny pinching at every opportunity. For pity's sake, when the porter picks up your luggage to carry to your room don't take it back and say you're fine so you can try and avoid giving him a tip :o It's a false economy anyway, as this type of behaviour will mark you out for poor service throughout your stay. On more than one occasion I've seen people arriving back and heading to their room with plastic grocery bags full of snacks in order to try and scrimp

When you're dining in the restaurant remember you are not at Nando's. Let the staff do their job. If you need their attention a subtle glance of the eyes is all you need. No need to start waving your arms about like you're in the terrace at Old Trafford! Or worse yet, I've seen people clicking or bellowing "excuse me!" across the room. Read up on table manners if you're not used to dining in a top-end restaurant. I could do a whole other post on this subject alone.

Remember to tip the staff. Tip appropriately as well. Also, remember to tip the cleaning staff not only for the morning but also the evening turndown service too. Don't try and pay for your drinks at the bar in cash, just settle your bill at the end of your stay.

Anyway, as you can see, these places are an absolute minefield for anyone who got rich but didn't get a chance to read the manual. It can be amusing to watch the fish out of water flop around on the deck, but eventually it just gets annoying and definitely takes away from the regular guests enjoyment.

That's a question of personal class rather than social class. You can have one without the other or both. You know people with one without the other.

The former is definitely more important than the latter.

I was responding to the comment: ''In the UK, upper class refers only to titled people. Not the wealthy upper middle classes. The best indication that she isn't upper class is that she told you she is, not her behaviour.''

The woman I mention is from an aristocratic family, so she would be upper class by your first definition, and yes she does lack personal class in some ways, as outlined. Although she is of course capable of maintaining a veneer of refinement when she has to.

Do you have difficulty reading? I quite clearly said I prefer to stay in understated and rustic surroundings when travelling for pleasure. Nature is my 5 star when it comes to holidaying.

Anyway, I'm in a happy and healthy relationship so keep that candle in the window for now Lexie.

What her parents have done is take away their child's innocence and ability to just be a child.

In this case they don't actually have any money and they have even less sense. They are setting their child up for a huge dunk when she finishes school and has no money of her own and no money to keep her in the lifestyle she's used to.

I'd be more concerned that my 11 year old looks and acts like a spoilt 18-20yr old than worrying about how to pay for her next shopping expedition.

Live on a council estate - there's a guy who bought a 17 mercedes benz

If I was in social housing being paid for by the state, getting fuel allowance, getting dole each week along with child benefit, free medical card, free childcare, free education and anybtime I ran a bit low I could apply for emergency funding and get it, then I could afford a 171 Merc too but I have to work pay taxes, pay mortgage, pay health insurance and doctors visits, pay for my children's school books and uniforms and get absolutely zero assistance from anyone so therefore I can only afford a 7 year old car.

People with money act like horrible people all the time but so do people without money...it's just slightly more inexcusable in people who have been fortuante.

It's nothing new. I don't care about whether they post pics of wealth or not. It's how they treat me and others around them.

How you treat me shows me how you respect yourself.

You can be Jackie O but if you are cold meh..

You can look like Mr T...if you are nice to people...it's pretty cool you found your unique style. :)

    It's how you treat me.
