Can I ask if you're experiencing the same issues that I am (above)?

I'm with Vodafone and I'm getting 4g and 4g+ (red connect)

    Just ordered one myself thanks.
Does it come with a cable or does it matter which cable you use in order to get the dash charging?

Comes with but doesn't matter which is used. Not sure of the length as it's not on the website

Still has to be a Dash cable though.

Anyone else having trouble with the OnePlus 3 on the Three network?

Mine won't do a Google voice search while on mobile data. Works fine on Wi-Fi but not mobile data. It also struggles with sending things like voice notes on WhatsApp on mobile data.

I've had this problem for a few months and after some painful to-ing and fro-ing with OnePlus - I sent my phone to them twice for repair - they eventually swapped my 3 for a 3T but the problem persists so it seems the issue is with the Three network. My SIM is a work SIM so I tried another OnePlus 3 belonging to a colleague at work who also has a work SIM and their phone has the same problem.

Anyone have any ideas what might be up?

I'm having the exact same issue with three business on a 3T. Going to change back to Vodafone ( I was with Vodafone a few months ago and it worked fine)

Will check in the morning the heathen.

So can somebody confirm the 3T can pig 4G from Vodafone? It supports all the band's it needs?

Is there any carrier off limits for 4G?

Yep it can get 4G and 4G+ from Vodafone, I was getting 4G and 4G+ with 3 when available too. No 4G on Lyca but I don't think they do 4G in Ireland anyway.

    Thanks TB.

I'm on a business plan through work. The phone works perfectly except that apps that require a lot of data such as voice don't work properly ie. I can't do Google voice searches, I can't send whatsapp or Facebook messenger voice notes and I can't upload photos to Twitter - all of these issues are on the Three mobile network.

I did check that the OnePlus 3 used the correct bands for the Three network before buying the phone. I'm now on a OnePlus 3T as OnePlus changed my phone for me as we presumed the issue was with the phone but the same problem persists so it's definitely the network.

I don't have access to 4G either but that's a secondary issue which I presume is because my employer is too cheap to have it turned on (although I have been told that it may be because our business contract is on the old Bluestacks network)

I went from the iPhone 5s to the 3T. I am able to get 90 mb/s download and 30 mb/s upload! On the 5s I wasn't getting half that! The 3T is the best phone for network coverage I've had. I live in the middle of the countryside and get those speeds. Its faster than what my sister can get in Dublin both on her phone and fixed line from eir

In fairness, the iPhone 5s is only a Cat3 LTE device whereas the OnePlus 3T is a newer Cat6 LTE device which uses carrier aggregation - so that's why it will give you the faster data performance.

Unfortunately I've found the OnePlus3T for me is average to poor for network reception.

In good signal areas it's perfect.

In marginal areas it loses the network a lot sooner than other handsets on the same network.

That is true. I find that if you're out of a 4g area then mobile data does not function, even on H+.

Thanks, what was the network carrier?

Vodafone. I used to be with three but had to move because my coverage seemed to be going gradually and the internet slowed down over a few months to nothing as well. Very happy with vodafone.

Since I went to VF with the 3T I have never been without coverage and my work can bring me to places where no man has gone before. Three were ok up to about a year ago but gradually became unusable. The biggest problem I had was that people couldn't contact me even though the phone was showing good coverage, forget about internet outside of towns it was just non existent.

3 were bought out by meteor or eir mobile weren't they?? that should explain it.

3 bought out O2, nothing to do with meteor, plus most of the MVNOs (lycamobile etc) run off their bandwidth. Meteor and Eir are basically the same company. I jumped from 3 to meteor when the €20 for €30 prepay simplicity offer came in. It is like night and day, Internet on 3 simply did not work during the day in my area with congestion. My phone would say it is offline and you could time it by people going to/from work!

As far as I know, the only MVNO on the vodafone network is postfone which probably wouldn't be having much impact on the network. The other networks are meteor and eir on the same network (not sure if there's anymore on that). While the three networks seem to be overloaded with three, lyca, o2, tescomobile, id mobile, 48...

I have a OP3 with a Three PAYG sim in slot 1 and a work Vodafone sim in slot 2, I can get 4G on both of them depending where I am.
Yesterday in Dublin I selected sim one for data and the little 4G symbol popped up beside the symbol for that sim, likewise when I selected sim 2 it appeared beside that.

Yeah likewise, ex-O2 and Vodafone SIM.
Get 4G and 4G+ on both in Dublin, full signal.
Have regularly seen speedtests on both in excess of 100Mbps - the record so far was 141Mbps on 3 at midweek lunchtime!

But head out ot Dublin where the coverage isn't as dense and it all falls apart on the OP3T for me.

Particularly around Kildare, I'll head indoors and the phone will start flip flopping all over the place, both flipping around between E, H/+ and 4G/+, and alternating between No Service. Whereas other handsets can stay latched on to 1 or 2 bars and the same network type (E, H/+, 4G/+) and remain perfectly usable, albeit with slow data (to be expected).

Also if the active data SIM loses signal, it can up to 2 minutes after reentering a coverage area before it actually picks up network service again.

I've actually just ordered a Virgin Media sim to replace my Three PAYG sim.
They have an offer for existing customers, €5 per month for five months, then €25 per month on a 30 day rolling contract so will give that a go for a while.
I don't make many calls or texts on that sim but I roam an awful lot and I use it for personal browsing when I'm abroad, I use the work sim for business related data....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18 vcngirl

When you put in the Virgin Sim, you'll prob need to manually set up the APN for data, as my new OP3T didnt pick up automatially. My head was wrecked trying to figure out why I had no data access.

Boards wont let me post links yet, but just do a search for Virgin Media APN and you'll be sorted

Stop turning it on for a start. Give it several days and just pray you get lucky.

Just wishing to share my good news story,

I kept my water damaged one month old Oneplus 3t in a box of rice all week and last night the phone came back to life working 100%.

I'm so delighted I absolutely love these phone :)

I'm just wondering, do any of you kind folks know what the problem that I'm having above is called? Is it an APN thing or something?

Tried that myself with a Samsung last year, worked for 2 days then I heard a sizzle and it was completely dead. Be careful id say

Rice doesn't work correctly. It'll dry out the phone and corrode the board. It'll work for a while then it'll just stop working completely. I'm a phone repair technician and I see this everyday..

Just to be clear, I'd never do anything like that myself but there are plenty who would, that's why I'd never buy a phone off DD or similar.

And I'd be particularly wary of any OP3 appearing for sale in the next week or so...;)
