Played even though I heard hamstring trouble. Scored 0-7, 6 of them frees.

good win for barefield on there return to the top tier , objective for 2017 compleat as relegation avoided intresting to see what they can offer from here out , looks like another big club could see themselves in relegation trouble given how competative the losers round is

DB kind of needed a good win in the championship, to stay up also, its been a while since they had a good year in the top tier. A club like that should be contenders with their history, facilitates, catchment area, etc.

Though this result maybe says more of Tulla.

barefield have no buisness opperating in the 3rd tier (divison 2 ) in the league for as what you say a club with a huge area and excellent facilities ,

tulla's only win so far this year has came against sixmilebridge's 2nd team in, the league , still think they have enough to stay up if they can sort themselves out , the draw will be very intresting , the magpies are another club that are probably to big to go down like barefield and kilmaley before them two clubs that really need favorable draws in the next round ,

According to the Irish Times the Limerick match is on the 27th

Next up: v Limerick, Cusack Park, May 27th

Shag them. If Munster win this Saturday evening the Final is on that evening, the 27th. I presumed they would have played it on the Sunday to have a better attendance.

The Clare people contradicts the Irish times . Collins wants to play on the Sunday .he said the only likely way it would be played on the Saturday is if cork and tipp draw in the hurling next week . It is something to do with officials and stewardes from the Munster council that would be covering both games

Collins said unless the hurling is a draw Sunday . The game will be fixed for Sunday week

isn't josephs history actually more intermediate than senior with an interlude of excellence in the 90s

That's what I was thinking as well, outside of the AMAZING team of the 90s there wasn't many Barefield teams playing A when I was underage, going to Roselevin was never a daunting task either.

Well he also mentioned their catchment area and facilities. In fairness they are usually capable of winning at least one of the main underage trophies every year so they always have young players coming through.

They were competitive since becoming senior until about 5 years ago which in itself was a good span of 20 years.

Remember they sent a superior Wolf Tones team down to intermediate a few years back and they were promoted against all odds last year. They are certainly a team who can win pressure games as they showed last week.

how were tones superior to them if they both ended up in relegation and josephs won.
There is nothing between those teams
Tones had a good result v the bridge but were brutal against feakle last year and that's about where they are.

they could end up in the semi final of the championship or the relegation no matter who they draw in the losers group

well to be fair lads since the late 90s the areas barefield , doora and espiclly rosleven have almost doubled in size ,

they are traditionally intermiedate but with the pick they have they should be serious contenders for senior ,

one of the first arguements back in 2013 when i joined was with buck 65, it was over football getting in the way of hurling or something , i dissagred heavely at the time , then this year my club from west clare had 6 lad playing in the all ireland club final ,

if truth be told he's winning the arguement.... but the same thing happened in cratloe a few years back that is going on at doora/barefield at the moment ,if they can bring the football and hurling together in barefield then they will be a huge force in the hurling championship again ,

Getting very close now. Hopefully there are no plans to send lads running across each other's chests over the next week or so. Really need to see Clare playing sharp and crisp hurling again. It's been too long.

    did that really happen?

big test for the footballers in the park today , espically after corks narrow win over waterford last night they will have to be on guard to prevent an upset , a lot of talk around over the last week that this will be an easy game , i would be surprised if there was any more then a point or two in the end

todays selection is probably the strongest available to us at the moment , lets hope today springs another good run in the championship like last year

    clare 1-13 1-12 limerick

a fairly comfortable performance and looked like a comfortable win up the the 71st minute when another act of stupitity by goalkeeper joe hayes gifted limerick a goal when clare were 4 points to the good and 3 minutes of stoppage time remaining ,

solid first half performance from start to finish , keelan sexton putting an outstanding show , the scoreline could have been far greater by half time had eoin cleary his shooting boots on , after geting a goal on the board early on he missed a point blnak effort and a few more wides followed . at the break clare lead by 5

second half again the forwards missed a number of scoring chances but pretty much dominated the game , the game never looked in any doubt until injury time when joe hayes looked for john hayes who was very much marked by josh ryan, hayes abandoned his goal and limerick pounced , the visitors had another chance to level shortly after but missed from range ,

kerry await in 3 weeks time where perfrmance will have to improve espically kick out stratigies and converting scoreing chances

    clare scorers

    eoin cleary 1-4
    david tubridy 0-4
    keelan sexton 0-3
    sean collins 0-1
    pearse lillis 0-1

The Kerry game is in less than 2 weeks. Either Saturday the 10th or the following day. In Cusack Park.
I don't know why is Colm Collins persisting with them stupid short kick outs. Really frustrating to watch as we have 2 great fielders in midfield.

Clare seem to fade a lot in games especially in second half. There is lack of options on bench especially with lads retiring/leaving panel. Pity to see Shane McGrath leave. Scored 7 points from play for Thomas Davis in a recent championship game in Dublin.

What happened for the goal yesterday? I didn't see it, did Joe Hayes get caught playing center back?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,572 ✭✭✭finbarrk

Joe Hayes took a short kick out to John Hayes, but the Limerick forward was close to him, and he managed to get it and crossed it to the young Ryan lad who buried it. It was on the Sunday Game last night if you can get it up.

Must be a good few €'s being put on Clare for Sunday. They were 8/13 earlier in the week with PP, 1/2 NOW.

I think it should be up tonight.

Word is Pat O'Connor, Gudgie and O'Donnell will be in for Dillon, Bugler and C. McInerney from the team that played Dublin.

A good 13 of the team is nailed on at this stage. Some talk of a surprise start around the middle but Galvin and Reidy midfield is the most likely setup I'd say. Don't think you'll need much geometry to make sense of the team structure either.
