Yes I have seen it too but sky are getting smart to this - they are starting to move the on-screen numbers around the screen... during the boxing they kept switching from Top/Right, Top/Left and Bottom/Left continuously.

Sky cards though are bought through 3rd party online retailers and practically untraceable.

Basically stops the chances of old bill banging down your door because details of your card has been noticed on IPTV.

Honestly, I cannot see random people all over the planet having boxes outputting to HDMI and streaming to the internet. That's firstly a serious amount of effort and requires you, never to use the box nor the computer it's connected to. These streams are been captured by some other means.

Tbh I don't know much about the sky cards... I presume though sky can cut off supplying the cards to 3rd party retailers if they don't get the customers info from them.

I do know that the current white cards are due to be replaced sooner rather then later.

I tend to agree, if sky can block out both satellite and cable cccam feeds then they are going to make hay to a considerable degree.

Still won't stop the output of the channel via HDMI.

Once Sky are receiving the sub every month for the card sent out, they won't stop ecms to that card until I noticed that the card is being used illegally through say CS or IPTV.

I'm finished here but that old saying comes to mind " One door closes......."

Oh yes, streaming of course will continue in all shapes and forms but if they can make Dreambox's obsolete then it would be massive.

Satellite cccam needed very little internet and was very stable, streaming thru IPTV is not possible for an awful lot of people.

The end of the day, there perfectly entitled to do what ever they wish it is there network after all.

I do think however, there will always be people that will crack it and the thing now is if these people do crack, they'll be considering if it worth there while releasing it or keep it to themselves, or selling the zero day back to Sky so they can patch it.

I also think Sky need to released that they are to expensive, there is a reason people don't try crack Netflix, it's a reasonable price, regardless of there geo blocking.

I remember the boxes where you had to manually change the code as sky kept changing it and then there was ccam's, I'm sure there will be something else in a few months. It's sky keeping up with the hackers all the time it seems.

This could be a game changer, Sky Italia has yet to be broken from what we know of... the hackers have had plenty of time to break it too.

The 2 way encryption looks almost water tight.

Balls if it is, whatever happens I will refuse to give into sky and pay them the crazy prices they charge!

I suppose just to be aware, if sky take down cable too IPTV for sky U.K. might be severely affected.

Yes, I like football but not enough to pay 40/60/80 per month or whatever it costs so Shrek Rooney can get paid £240,000 per week.

Sky IT, might be unbroken for now, but what is the subscriber base like and what are there costs for a package. I'd imagine these are factors, if the money is there illegally for this to be broken, SKY UK/IRL that is, then you'll have someone that will crack it.

I'd imagine it's some sort of rolling code using the mac address of the box. At the end of all this, it's really is simple all this security as it is logical in nature.

In saying that UPC secured there network fairly well with there encoding, althought there where rumours it was cracked, then also that a few lads got themselves nicked after cracking the box, only down to the fact they where using UPC as the internet provider. :pac:

You would imagine other IPTV streams from outside of the UK would not be affected anyway .... problem is HBO and every other satellite/cable platform will be sitting up taking notice to see if sky can do it.

As I mentioned, that is part of the reason, the biggest reason for me anyway is that Sky don't show all the games for your club, usually important games that are not on UK/IRL TV, yet you can see it is on FreeView in Afgan for some bizzare reason.

I would rather suffer with streams(which I hate btw) than give into sky's crazy pricing, it's such a rip off these days so it will be interesting if people flock back to them when all this gets chopped or if people sit tight and wait for the new way to watch their channels!

I would almost bet that people would struggle without it until August and then if the encryption holds then they will return as new customers with a sky deal (you wait for the deals to come to get people back :) )

The premier league season will influence many I think. If it is cracked in the meantime it's back to square 1 for sky,

Pubs might become busier! In saying that.

There are a few 'Sports Bars' I cannot wait to check out (mainly around D1) after the end of Card Sharing, I suspect highly they are using this, more than likely with IPTV, I just hope they've a good internet connection, they'll be needing it once CCAM is gone. I'd imagine Sky are going to be sending out inspectors on the double once the CCAM is done with to put the nail in the coffin for these lads, if I was publican without a proper Sky Sub, I wouldn't be turning a telly on without a legit source.

I know what you're saying and I am possibly one of these people but I really don't want to sign up and get ripped off.

Just hope this gets sorted before the start of next season!

Of course there will be but most people won't bother if it's too costly or difficult to undertake..

For years people got their Dreambox, plugged it in and got Sports and Films for basically free ... if sky can stop this ease of access it's half the battle.

IPTV may be an alternative but only for those with fast internet connections.

Card sharing was ideal for those in rural areas for instance.

I don't fully understand how Sky can block channels by decryption on these dodgyboxes? My understanding was that the dodgyboxes themselves don't decrypt the signal but that trickle of broadband it uses does - as in, it's decrypted on someone elses sky box and then the decrypted code is sent via internet to the dodgybox?

    Correct me if I'm wrong.

On a 7meg connection IPTV works flawlessly even on HD channels.

Well I just looked there and the basics with Sky Sports is 60€ rising to 70€ after 6 months (could be wrong on that, it's all a bit cloak and smoke screens after six months).

Sky Movies is the biggest pile of ****é I have ever seen, it should be just stopped by Sky, it's a complete and utter waste of money. Put that stuff into there Sky Q or whatever it is called and switch off the TX's and save money.

a lot more complicated than that, an expert will be along soon to explain it. its the end of cs on 28.2, for now anyway. time to move on to the alternatives

True enough but I know people running card sharing on a 2meg connection which might only be able to do SD IPTV if lucky.

It's card sharing, your box pings the 'real' box to get access to the channel, that's the simple version. So you have a three way conversation ongoing between, two boxes and a server.

Sky have now basically told the box with the card, it won't speak to anyone but the physical card holder, so it cannot talk to the logical boxes, so you've a two way conversation on going with some stations at the moment.
