I've no interest this year. Can't justify paying 600 plus on what will more then likely be a minor upgrade on the 10.

Every flagship will more than likely be running the same Snapdragon 835. So you're getting that with a different case, depending on who you buy from. Whether the case is 5" or 5.5" is up to you. Then basically the only difference is the camera.

I'll keep my 10 anyway for another year at least. Still plenty of life in it.

I expect I'll be happy enough with something running a 625 or successor SOC when the time comes. I'm mostly very happy with the 10, but I doubt I use anything like its full processing capacity.

My screen got smashed to bits today!
Does anyone know anywhere that replaces the screens in Dublin? With good results?
I don't mind even sending it back to HTC, which is where i bought it but i can't find anywhere on the website?
    Any help?

Had a friend share some photos of the upcoming HTC 11 today. If you're a fan of the recently released U Ultra, you'll love it.....if not, oh well :D

Apart from the design is there anything to get excited about ?

Not really. Basically think the U Ultra with a 5.5" screen and Snapdragon 835. It has the Side UI (or whatever they have called it) which was featured in one of their promo videos, but I don't think it really does much.

The U Ultra is a bit of a disaster by the sounds of it. Many tech reviews are slating it. For the size they could have easily fitted a headphone jack, stereo speakers and a much bigger battery. Also the price is ridiculous..

Yup, and the 11 sticks with the same 3000mAh battery that was in the 10 and the U Ultra, although the guy I know said he's getting way better battery life than the 10 (which is generally very good). There's normally a lot of background logging stuff with a test device as well. Still doesn't explain why they don't put a bigger battery in.

Given what (little) I understand about the fabrication process for the Snapdragon 835, it should be significantly more power efficient than the 820.

Really can't find any love for the U Ultra design, looks a terrible overall package. HTC have lost me, if this is the direction they're going in. Bizarre compromises of size, materials, battery capacity and headphone jack, for next to no upside that I can see, and a general air of unfocused gimmickry.

Go into any Three store and have a look at the U Play.

It's quite stunning in person, fair enough if you hate glass but I wouldn't judge it on press pics alone.

Could be interesting with regards to one handed usage on >5" designs.

Have they done anything interesting with the bezels or screen aspect ratio ?

It really has to be waterproof and wireless charging would be nice.

I've never been closer to moving away from HTC but the other alternatives arnt great IMO.

Funnily enough, I went into a 3 store on Paddy's Day and asked to look at the U Play. It was bolted down face down. I don't think a shiny back is gonna make me buy a device.

I can't really tell from the pics, but nothing interesting from what I can see. Same shaped fingerprint sensor on the front etc.

I think this year there will be multiple alternatives that are better. HTC have lost anything that differentiated them, and now they leave off features everyone else has, and do other things a little worse than the competition.

The development community used to keep me with HTC, but Android is good enough to live without root these days.

Apart from the size, the U Ultra looks gorgeous though, especially the blue.

God, the size, though. The LG V20 manages the same second screen, main screen diagonal, bigger battery and a headphone jack in a smaller body.

+1 Looks like my HTC 10 will continue for another year unless I jump ship and go for the S8.

    Hi folks,
I had my ten unlocked by three last week. Since I have I've noticed I no longer see the lte logo.. It's 4g.. Is this cause something changed recently in the software or a consequence of being unlocked?

Im getting 38.5mbps download on speed tests
    .
    Cheers
    Mick

Did u flash a custom ROM?
LTE and 4G are basically the same.
There's actually just a text file on the system with a load of values for settings. You can change the one for 4G/LTE to flip between them if u have root. It's more of a visual thing though. Not a functional thing. The value is usually set per region so the States will have LTE and we'll have 4G over in Europe. Makes no difference really. You should get the same speed either way.

Have also noticed my battery life has got a bit worse. Am having to charge the phone by 5pm now, whereas when new it would go till 10pm. I don't use many apps but am a fairly heavy user all the same.
I was thinking about a factory reset.

Still cant update Leap card via the HTC 10 all cos of the position/functionality of the NFC. Its a real turnoff on the 10.
    Might switch back to Samsung
