Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Has anyone ever actually hooked up or gone on a date from this?

I doubt it very much. I'm not sure what "here" actually is. The online dating forum might be worth a shot? There's a thread over in the helpdesk where you can ask for access.

No but you should try it. What have you to lose, eh?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,415 ✭✭✭Trebor176

I'm really thinking of asking a new girl in work out. My only fear is awkwardness, if she declines. I know workplace romances are common enough, but they come at a risk. She's a lovely girl anyway. There has been no flirting or anything like that. Just good chats during lunch. I can't keep resorting to online dating. It's been failing me for too long!

Suss things out as much as possible. Try to find out if single etc. No point in making things awkward.

Have been considering it but don't think I would have anyone to go with. Is going alone to these things seen as weird?

No mention of a bf. She is moving up to Dublin with a friend in the next few days, so it does look like she's single. I'll try to bring it up somehow :)

Yeah you're probably right. I'm just very shy, not sure it would work out well for me but I guess if I never try I'll never know.

Have gone Speeddating a few times now. Most people guys and ladies rock up to the Venue alone. A handful do bring others with them. But most people walk in on their own. There might be a teeny bit of mingling at the start, - walking around to other tables to say hi, but a lot of the time people are just getting seated and going to get a drink at the Bar so there isn't really that much chatting going on at the start anyway. I.m.e. it's always held on a week night anyway so there isn't much socialising or mingling going on as a lot leave straight away, but, I have seen an odd time where all/most of the lads that attended stay on at the Bar afterwards for a pint.

If you would be able to muster up the courage to go on your own I would advise you to go even just to experience it. It's a laugh and a bitta craic! :)

So, I'm single so I guess this is the thread for me! It's my birthday too so that's another reason to be down :D:D

Well, this thread has been extremely quiet of late. Can I assume that most contributors are no longer single?

Brand new, budget is between €30,000 to €40,000

I'd say you'd be looking at a saloon, such as an A3, A4, or maybe even a 3-Series. Though, you'd get large enough saloons for that price range. Golfs can fall into that range too. You could even opt for a range topping Hyundai Tuscon, Santa Fe or something like that.

How about something like the new SEAT Ateca, Skoda Kodiaq, Hyundai Tuscon, Ford Kuga, or even a range topping CX-3? Some sort of mid-sized hot hatch maybe, if you're looking for fun?

Tucson is only 1.7, Kodiaq i was looking at won't be available until July, Cx-3 abit small much prefer Cx-5 but doesn't really gets my heart racing :D

Might hold out for the new civic type r

    I'll have no CX3 bashing!

The Civic's suspension is meant to be rock hard, so it's probably something to be aware of.

All good here. No marriage on the cards!

I am heading out on a work night out soon, but I'm not holding out hope of meeting someone! Still, a gorgeous colleague will be out with us, but the whole workplace relationships thing has made me reluctant to ask her out. Potential awkwardness and all that. . .

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,126 ✭✭✭misstearheus

Wouldn't personally intentionally ask someone out at work. Certainly not if she's relatively new. Just continue to keep building up a natural rapport with her for now.

I wouldn't call a lady handsome now. Pretty, beautiful, etc. would work better ;) You should have asked how Beauty and The Beast are :P

    And, how's Hugo?
