I'd be interested in hearing how you get on with it longer term, real world mpg, handling etc.

I've got 25,000km of medium to hard driving on my ST Estate.
    I'm getting 6.4 l/100km combined ~ 45mpg.
    Long Motorway driving is 5.8 ~ 49mpg.

Handling wise I can't fault her. Very steady under heavy braking, firm in the bends too. Feels very agile for an Estate. Been through first service and in 10 months there hasn't been a single issue.

Of the 212km a day I do 90% of it will be 120/100 Motorway driving. Not sure if you call that real world, currently down at 51.5mpg. However Id say I could keep it at 55mpg ish once the "opening her up" phase wares off :p. Ill let you know.

Pff it went exactly how I expected, the costs of the Passat's repairs came up.
So SHE agreed with herself that if the Passat is sold then I could have it.
    Pointless arrangement..

That's pretty good, in fairness Ford are making a very reliable car these days.

I've the Fiesta ST and in 15 months of driving i'm averaging 38 mpg. have 38kms done now so going in for second service next week, no problems either except the interior build quality is a bit poor, have a door card rattle that's driving me mad at the minute, but it was a cheap car to begin with so can't really complain.

I would like a Focus next and realistically i might be forced to go diesel (did 32kms in the first year in the Fiesta) so one of these or a Golf GTD is on my radar. If i can bring down my annual mileage a bit i'll stick with a petrol!

My rental for the next week... Not interesting by US standards but better than the standard corolla I unusually end up with.

Should be a polestar upgrade available for that to take it over 200bhp. Think it's about 800 but factory approved so doesn't invalidate warranty if you have one.

Thanks for that. It's herselfs car so I'll give her I'll chance to get used to it first. I'll remember that for when I pick up a v60 ;)

All going to plan these are the last photos of this before it goes off to its new owner next. At a loss what to get next but nothing like having to get the train to work to focus the mind.

This thing has done nothing but put a big, stupid smile on my face the last few weeks. There were a couple of small issues that were driving me crazy, but since they've been sorted it's been an absolute pleasure. It's proved its worth too serving as a workhorse so much lately and racking up miles with ease and relatively affordably too.

I never really liked golfs, but that looks stunning! It's probably the boy racer in me, or the fact that I was with somone that was obsessed with them :D

@ - Paddy@ctrl: How do you avoid all the door digs and trolly whacks from others in car parks? Every car of yours, you post here is spotless. I don't understand it? Every weekend I find a new dent, scratch or both on my car.. Very nice golf by the way..

It's difficult. But not impossible. I've no door dings or really any noticeable marks either (touch wood) but it involves a certain amount of parking anxiety! It depends on where you typically park every day too obviously. I park in a private underground works carpark. Very low risk. I suspect if I was parking at a DART station carpark every day for example, it'd be a different story....

    Basically, what Joe said.

I'm just careful where I park, usually park far from the entrance and because I'm freelance and work out of home, I don't have to deal with car parks on a daily basis either. That being said, I've lost count of the amount of cars that I've seen reverse into the front of it on the street. Luckily, my number plate holder has so far successfully protected the front every time.

I was given a Laguna like that as a loan car for a week a few years ago. Really liked it, very underrated car I thought

It's something I need to do alright along with getting the peeling paint on the handles sorted, I'm very pleased with it over the last 2.5 years I have it

Bought this beauty in London a few weeks ago.Even with the vrt it is still a hell of a lot cheaper than here.Much better spec too.Only had the car 12 hours and managed to scuff the near side wheel.Had it repaired on the way home-£50 and 6 hours.Perfect now but I really must be more careful!
