Whoop! Have you seen the videos on production? There are a few showing how duroplast was made and a one on how they got the doors and stuff to fit!

They did one on pimp my ride back in the day, fitted a mini front end.

    What year is it?

It's a 1985 so it's built towards the end of their production run.

I think I have seen that video :D the one where the man uses his foot to get the panel gaps just so :pac: as well as a fine selection of hammers.

I was thinking that speedo going up to 120 was very optimistic until I realised it was 120km/h. :)

There was a white Trabant knocking around Limerick for a bit but haven't seen it in ages.

It was mine for about 2 hours last Sunday, stripped interior, bucket recaros, roll cage, semi racing tyres & brakes, remap... sweet little car, and was a hoot out on the track as you can hammer it without it becoming stupid dangerous.

I would highly recommend using this place for a rental, really sound lads. €379 for 4 laps, fuel and insurance all included

Is it RHD just to suit visitors from RHD countries?

Probably bulk bought Jap imports. Good pics Trailer bob, it's some spot isn't it.

Yeah, they offered us a RHD, I was happy to take LHD, but my mate had never driven a left hooker so we took it. It's genuinely one of my favourite places in the world.. a bit quicker than my last visit that's for sure tossy!

Is there any security deposit or excess involved? Or is it really as simple as booking, paying your €379 and away you go?

There's a standard 6 grand excess if you crash it, and 'ring repair fees on top. You can reduce this to 3 grand incl. ring fees. if you pay an extra 100 euro insurance.
They took a carbon paper copy of my credit card but no pre-authorisation (and tore it up when we brought the car back). Really cool guys. They spent the first few minutes sussing us out, and once they realised we were car guys, knew what we were about, and not idiots, they were having the laugh with us. Took about 40 min from arrival to driving out of their yard.

+1 on that, used them last year. Took their BMW 125 out. Again sound lads.

A lucky week for me with two of my cars both passing the NCT's with no advisories. My GTV and bangernomics Volvo S40 :D

Two very different cars but both quite good in many ways. They were cleaned and treated to a clay/polish and wax as a present. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,903 ✭✭✭✭bear1

I always wondered about the ring.
If you take your own car do you need to take out extra insurance in case you crash? Or is it a simple case of tough luck?

Yeah it's a big liability on you if you bin it.. but imo if you drive to your ability and don't get freaked out by the 'wasps' of GT3s and R8s and the like whizzing by, then you'll be fine
