My brothers birthday is coming up, he was joking about getting a C64. What's the easiest way to play C64 and Atari games that I could get him? He's not picky on it being emulated, it would mean less space bring taken up.

its a 10 minute job, you download an image file from the retropi website and a program called win32diskmaker, open the program select the retropi imagefile and select you sdcard location (E: F: etc.) and select write. When thats done put the sdcard into your pi and start it up, also plug in a blank usb stick and whatever controller you want to use and let it do its thing. After a couple of minutes you'll get to the start screen and it will prompt you to configure your controller, after thats done shut the pi down and put the usb stick in your computer and copy over whatever roms you want. The usb will already have all the folders setup for each system so put roms in the appropriate folders, plug the usb stick back into the pi, start it up and play games!!

Thanks mozie! I can understand that, hate when you look up stuff and it's all jargon and I can't! I'll just have a strop!
Is there a USB slot then for a controller?

Yeah the pi3 has 4 standard usb slots so plenty ;)

    Beautiful get there!
I have the following set, Super Pong, but I must get that one, it is superb.

My advice too is to do what I did and find a 70's/80's portable B&W tv to play it on, they look fantastic in that hazy soft CRT, as those who have played on my set up can attest.

Playing through uncharted 4 and I'm finding it terribly boring. Maybe I'm just spoiled by so many great fames like nier and zelda that revel in being actual ganes rather than barely interactive cutscenes but it's doing nothing for me. Stuff like the previous games mentioned all the indie games and even triple A games like hitman or horizon that rely mostly on mechanics rather than spectacle just make this kind of game feel obsolete.

Also the crash bandicoot emulation was poor!

I have to ask: do you not think there's an incredible amount of wasted time & space in Nier Automata? I'm into playthrough 3, and there's enough of interest to keep me ticking over, but I think the game could easily have shaved off a good half the 'content' I've played so far and it would be much better for it. The amount of times (literally hundreds) I had to play through minor variants on that bullet hell hacking mini-game... For all the valid complaints of shallow, repetitive combat in Uncharted, Nier is every bit an equal offender in that respect (and, given its extended length, maybe even worse) and not even close to being in the same league as Zelda.

Nier isn't perfect but at least it's got some interesting ideas in there and there's some actual feeling of danger in the actual gameplay. For every repetitive sequence there's something else that makes you ask what the hell you are playing. Then again I started uncharted 4 to get a break from Nier :) I think despite Nier automata having platinum on board it's still like the original Nier, the best 7/10 game you'll ever play and I'll take that over triple A bloat any day. I'm sure you've seen plenty of films that aren't quite perfect but the experience makes up for it. It's how I see automata.

It's not actually the combat in uncharted that is getting to me. It's not the best but seems far more open than previous versions. It's everything else. The story is basically the characters jumping to conclusions. That is an issue with the series but so far it's not even matched the bombast of previous games, well the second and third at least. Every scripted set piece just doesn't feel dangerous at all anymore. Maybe it's the game or else it's been copied so much at this stage.

It feels like a big step back from last of us. That game might have been very story heavy but the gameplay really fell back on its mechanics rather than glorified qte sequences. Not sure if I could say it's better than uncharted 3 as I can't remember enough of that game to judge.

I have tried to play through Uncharted 3, the PS4 rerelease, over the last few months but, when your leaping from one helpfully tinted wall to another and have slotted away another 25 red jumpers in your path, you wonder why am i bothering?
And Uncharted 4 is sitting there too, waiting to be played... some day....

Did you see the prices CeX are charging for a NES Mini? €275 for a boxed unit, are they joking? I can probably get the real console plus all the games on the Mini for the same price.

You can have my NES mini for ?270 :)

All joking aside, they should be ashamed of themselves for charging that. But it'll sell no problem at that price :0/

Thats awesome! I wonder is it behind the same people that did Cannabalt!

Actually there was 2 C64 Cannabalt remakes which were released on the same day cooeratively by both coders, that was pretty awesome.

U3 is OK, it's pretty an all but I was very meh about it.

I started U4 when it came out. It's SUPER lovey looking but I got bored, haven't finished it. Dunno, new video games are losing me atm. People lose themselves over U4 though, maybe I'm missing something. I'll prob go back to it in 20 years.

There is just too many must play games out over the past 2 years, hard to keep up.

Fresh off the laser cutter(I prefer to work late at night). Quite happy with how it came out as I couldnt find a clean high res simple black and white pic of just the text/logo online, so had to convert a lower res image to vector and clean it up a little.
It's cast acrylic, so will look well with bottom or side lighting(RGB) when I make up a case for it.

Its just a bit over 7 inches long (ohh arrh :)), so will be a nice little desk ornament rather than wall mounted.
