Right now he's taking some well deserved time off, blowing off some steam and about to be a father.

Who should he have fought instead of Nate? He wanted to avenge a loss. The LW belt at that time was tied up and he had cleaned out the FW division.

    So fúcking what?

jose aldo had beaten edgar for the interim? he was the obvious one

Well to be fair I don't think anyone thought he should have fought Nate again immediately after the loss. I think everyone, myself included, thought he was going to give Frankie a shot as he was coming off a first round KO of Chad, or maybe give Aldo the rematch like he said he would.

I remember the mass hysteria when the rematch was announced. Of course it turned out to be the epic rematch we never knew we wanted and another shot at the LW strap revealed itself.

The nate rematch was announced before that fight

It's a competitive fight. He had lost in a roller-coaster fight that could have gone either way? The world and their mother wanted to see the fight, and both fighters wanted it?

A guy he KO'd in 13 seconds that he travelled around the world promoting? I'm a huge McGregor fan and even back then a rematch against Aldo made no sense.

This is prize-fighting folks, not the Olympics.

McGregor/Diaz is an anti-superfight. Total joke shop.

The PPV buys speak for themselves. A few posts on a small MMA forum in Ireland matters little in the grand scheme of things.

    So fúcking what?

It's kind of hard to represent yourself and your brand as supremely confident and near unbeatable if you have a legend who has already beaten you and is in the same division, even if the fight was at another weight.

Just look at McGregor after the Diaz loss. He looked a shell of himself and I'm pretty sure his sponsors and backers were noticing it too and wondering if it was time to jump ship or get off the hype train.

If Mcgregor didn't ask for a rematch you would get the usual "he's scared" "Diaz crashed the hype train" "McQuiter" rhetoric that tends to follow. Especially at future press conferences and media events.

So I suppose in your eyes he should have just fought aldo again. Great, we would have got to see Jose not speak a lick of English for 4 months, slowly close off and get nervous when he realises what happened before and we might even get another drug test "butterfingers" situation from him aswell.

But either way, Conor was right to fight Nate again. You think he would have just got handed the RDA/Alvarez fight right after being beat by another lightweight? Well maybe he would have, but the "doubt" over that piece of history would have been there, exactly like it is now with Aldo.

As for Aldo, I wish him all the best cause he was a great fighter regardless but he won't be champion for long. I can see Holloway winning with a knockout early and maybe a jump in weight to try and claim another fight with Conor.

Holloway knows he could set a trilogy with Conor if he plays his cards right and I honestly think Max would win second time around

Hate him or love him. He clearly took the better path.

You know what would happened had he not had the 2nd Diaz fight and went back to featherweight to fight Edgar or Aldo.......it doesn't need spelling out does it

Ugh, I can't believe I'm talking about money making fights and not legitimate contender fights. The UFC is slowly becoming a total joke show with this sh*t

3 of Conor's last 5 fights have been for a belt. Mendes, Aldo and Alvarez.

MMA fans don't know how good we have it.

Bisping v GSP might annoy people.
    Conor v Nate might rankle.
Conor skipping the queue direct to Alvarez and possibly Woodley might irritate people.

You'd think we might just be a small bit appreciative of the fact these are all still amazing and competitive fights as opposed to boxing throwing in champions against outright bums to pad crazy unbeaten records.

Whether people like it or not, the UFC are not going to pin a huge card on Khabib showing up fight night. The only justifiable fight to make at 155lbs is Conor v Ferguson. That'd be a great fight and I'm completely in favour of it.

The UFC are still leaving tens of millions on the table putting on Conor v Ferguson instead of Conor v Woodley/GSP/Nate. You're talking about 0 title defences but I'd say you wouldn't be too impressed from a sporting perspective if he defends it against Nate either.

Hopefully they dont go ahead with this boxing mayweather tripe.

Not that it matters what I want but I'd like to see Conor v Tony :D my second choice would be Conor v Nate.

Dana says he will sort out the McGregor side in the next few days and then work on Floyds team. He predicts 100 million or more for Floyd and 75 million for McGregor.

He also said that he doesn't really think the fight should happen, but fans want to see it and it's worth a lot of money.

But most interestingly, he said it will have nothing to do with UFC. He says that he is Conor's boss, and that he will promote the fight.

Dont believe a word Dana says proven liar over and over, his openess about it makes me think its not happening.

The one thing Dana keeps emphasizing is this:

"The fight doesn't make much sense from our perspective but I want to do this for Conor". If that's really his attitude he wouldn't have pulled Conor from UFC 200 if he felt the company owes Conor a solid.

To me that indicates the fight is 100% happening and Dana is playing the martyr, "taking one for the team", so he can use it in future negotiations with Conor on a new contract - i.e. Remember we did the Floyd fight for you so don't get too greedy on this next deal! I'm sure the tens of millions the UFC are going to make on the Floyd fight don't come into it......

All his actions proof he was not calm and tht is why he over stretched his team obviously sensed a change to his normal calmness

They were referring to Aldo's corner talking in Portuguese to him. Not Conor's corner.

But unless you have something to compare it to, it's a bit meaningless. Maybe they always go on like that.

So you dont question someones pyschological state when a massive change occurs in their usual behaviour? You need to ask more questions if thats the case

Have you looked at Aldo before any of his other fights? Tell me what was different the night of the Conor fight?

He has his head down when he got in the cage.

    Overstretched? Normal calmness?
Have you seen him fight before. He has always pressed forward like that. Aggressive power shots are the norm for Aldo. Conor won because he first countered whereas others covered up.

    45.gif

Here against Hominick he threw (what would have been) the same combo imo.
Feint, left hook, right low kick.
    Jose_Aldo_vs._Mark_Hominick_5.gif

Notice that Hominick still managed to connect with a left hand.

He was way to serious/ transfixed/not happy not enjoying himself and not doing his usual thing he was tense even though looked fit he was in fact in poor shape psychologically

The weigh in was weird doing that stance thing to Conor, clearly out of character.
