Lads mentioned the Les Bleus documentary on Netflix today. It's on the past 20 years of French football.

Couldn't recommend it more. Excellent documentary. Goes into everything from 9/11(as bizarre as it sounds it makes sense) to Evra and co's revolt at the South Africa World Cup.

There's a feature on the lads on Fionn Davenport's Radio 1 show now.

When did Fionn Davenport get a Radio 1 show??

He's had it for a while, remember when they used to take the piss out of the sex advice slot on his Newstalk show.

Football Show markedly improved by an absence of Murph.

More over analysis of Manager press conferences today. This time Moyes. Appartently Moyes was too negative and should have come in like a positive ray of sunshine into the club, thereby setting himself up for fall and making himself look stupid when they flopped.

Ken's reliance on psychoanalysis of manager's media comments is becoming very grating.

Ironic after calling out the BS of golf punditry about body language in the other show.

    Ah probably not.

The problem arises from the second captains basically never getting to attend English Premier league games so they see everything through the prism of the media on their TV screens which completely skews their view through media agendas instead of the important stuff; what is happening on the pitch.

It was also funny to hear them talk about the golf punditry and the Eoin, Michael Quirke and Oisin McConville mentioning it loads in the gaa football review!!

I find myself listening to Second Captains to basically get a light hearted take on the previous day(s) sporting action.

It's sport, I have zero interest getting a recap of what I have already seen or an indepth analysis of the tactical nuances on show.

What I do want is someone who will speculate wildly in an entertaining way. Ken doesn't take himself too seriously, knows his audience and is basically a professional troll. I don't mean this in a negative way.

Eoin keeps things ticking along nicely and calls him out when things start to get a bit ridiculous.

It is what it is, and I've being listening for about 10 years so glad to give the lads a fiver a month to keep me occupied for my jog/walk/drive or whatever it may be.

Fair enough. Only a part of the show is light hearted so are you not bored for the majority of it which is normally reasonably serious?

Ken talking about "other" sports is a largely untapped resource. Though the irony of Ken dismissing other pundits because of their tendency to base their analysis on inferred conclusions wasn't lost on me. But it probably wasn't lost on him either.

Turns out that if you listen to the show at 1.5 playback speed, then Oisin McConville's voice is just about bearable. Unfortunately the actual GAA content is still tragically boring at all speeds.

My favourite SC moments of the last few weeks have been Ken talking about his sunny morning cycle to Abbotstown, and him missing out on the new journo food at the Aviva.

Think Ken has been listening to too much Trump. First he calls Moyes a loser, then he says Suarez is fat. Expect him to call Off the Ball fake news next

Maybe it was his doppelganger bike courier!:P Admittedly would be a pretty big coincidence...

    Newbie Question:

I use the iOS Podcasts app for all my Podcasts, and love the way I can schedule - rewind, replay and avoid the podcasts I subscribe to.
Since signing up to Second Captains World Service I haven't been able to listen to them in this app. What am I doing wrong, or is there a better way?
I have my Patreon account all subscribed, but I'm at a loss totally !!!
    Screw that. Found answer.

Got my special thank you pack from the lads.

It includes a rather accurate drawing of Devin Toner, albeit with a sort of elongated llama neck.
