Jesus I hope the Islamists aren't moving onto IED's. Very very worrying

    Huh?

They have been using IED's for a long time.

Very worrying that it's taking this long to establish what the hell is really going. Please god the poor lad is ok.

The German authorities are very wary of giving out any details on these type of events as it usually turns out that it has been perpetrated by the bleedin obvious.

I don't think it will turn out to bethe case in this instance, but they have to be extra careful to ensure that if it was a child of Mama Merkel that the news is supressed and we hear the usual guff about Christian H from Hamburg, a mentally ill German who has never had as much as a tan and who carried out the attack wearing a Swastika emblazoned leiderhosen.

Not in Europe they haven't. That's why it would be worrying.

Confirmation just in from a very good source......bus had bullet proof glass. That is the reason for the used of bombs and not fireworks/crackers.

Christ, if it could smash bullet proof glass it was certainly more than hooligan banter. The blast was presumably from a distance, the body of the bus seems intact.

How is it worrying? I got my first news alert 55 minutes ago, I don't see that as slow at all.

After that there's always confusion and conflicting reports.

What sort of source would you have in relation to German team buses and their windows?

In other threads, people are pissed off that the match didn't go ahead. Like, seriously? "My evening is ruined now"...

Reports now are that Police are using robots etc. to search for further devices around the hotel.

German Police will not give much info until they are forced too. Be sure they will not say it was this or that unless the press force their hand. Everything to keep people calm before the game tomorrow.

Sure they can sit back now and watch Barca get beat in Italy.

    Well this is UEFA.
Anyone else remember Heysel when 30 plus Italians died.
An hour or so later the match was played.

Juve won 1-0 by the way.

    Seriously?

You do know that IED's have been used in Europe by other groups.

Um the November 2015 attacks at Stade de France.

The attack on the Bataclan in Paris.

Attack at Ataturk Airport in Turkey.

The 2004 Madrid train bombing and the failed one in Cologne.

The threat is not new and neither is the modus operandi of Jihadist / terror organisations.

Most, if not all, bombs in Europe by terrorist group are IEDs.

Did I say German team buses??? I said the team bus.

    However to answer your question....
    1. Man make/sponsor buses for most German clubs. A tour of the DFB football museum will allow you to get the info...seems to be standard.

    2. Club/Police/Sky confirmed it to the press

    3. Some of us live and work outside of Ireland for various German companies such as BVBs sponsors, partners or maybe even the club itself.

If you were standing between the detonation point and the target, it would be very serious.

The blast damage to the bulletproof glass is a good indication of that.

Dortmund are at home, surely their fans aren't throwing stuff at their own team bus

The hatred between Schalke 04 and their bitter rivals Dortmund can be pretty intense. Having said that I don't think it's as murderous as Rangers-Celtic or Flamengo / Vasco De Gama where fans' buses are routinely shot at or targetted with pipe bombs. Attacking the team bus is usually off limits to hooligans.

Are we worried about offending extremists here?

No one remembers that because Liverpool fans don't like you to remember it. The 96 though...

Smashed windows in the bus, must have been some firecracker

Is a combination of rocks, bottles and firecrackers completely out of the question or must it be automatically assumed that it was some kind of lethal explosive device?

All glass on the bus is bullet proof. Metal areas reinforced...

AS Monaco currently holding a training session within the stadium. Assume this is to allow the police to sort a few things out before moving them.

BVB players currently leaving team hotel and returning to their families for the night. They will be meeting up again tomorrow late morning most likely at the club training complex

And what would you call London, Madrid, Boston, Moscow? Were those bombs over-the-counter devices?
