The seed has been planted, that's coddle for lunch on Sunday with the aul boy before we head for pints and Croker.

That's Stoner's third strike for me. He's being way to nice to the other shower. And to top that, Meath as well!!!

Listen, I'm 50 percent D4. You can't expect my advanced digestive system to handle something as primitive as coddle.

I've a lion's stomach for digesting the prime cuts, where as yours is closer to a hyena's scavengers belly!!

Yet come Sunday we'll all be shouting for the same team, isn't the GAA great all the same. For the odd afternoon during the year we are equals!!

    Look

The big event in Dublin this weekend is the Brent Geese heading off back to the Arctic. That's a 2kg bird flying for 2000 kilometres without a break, in a V formation.

A bunch of lads kicking a ball around a field for an hour hardly compares.

Brent Geese are manufactured long distance fliers.

    Swallows are natural fliers.

And the Kerry men are natural footballers, you know that.

Not like the manufactured Dublin lot, in their big DCU factory.

Oh, have they moved it? I cudda sworn our gym monkeys were all manufactured in a lab off the Long Mile Road? DCU is a much better spot in fairness. The Red Cow traffic is bleedin' murder !

That's cos they're always leaving games early to beat the traffic. It's such a fallacy.

Nah, i drink my cans from the can.

And when i say from the can, i mean my servant puts the can to my mouth and pours :)

Well that compensates for disrespecting the coddle.

Strange signals emanating from the Kingdom. Seems to be a view that Fitzmaurice is putting out a damage limitation exercise that won't inflict further physic damage on the team he is likely to put out if they meet again in Autumn.

Doesn't look to me like a team that will get within 5/6 points of Dublin, but you never know. They have nothing to lose at this stage. Shot to nothing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,775 ✭✭✭✭Slattsy

I just hope they try play football this time. And after that what will be, will be.

They were a disgrace in Tralee.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,665 ✭✭✭Bonniedog

Wasn't there but by all accounts they tried to "soften up" a few Dubs in time honoured fashion. Fenton being a particular target.

Well, it didn't work and if anything they did themselves more damage by choking in injury time and letting Dublin back in.

Doubt it be similar tomorrow although that ref does provide scope for them if his performance against Vins was any indication.

Anyway, this Dublin team will not be bullied by anyone so if they want to take it there, I doubt they be found missing a dancing partner :-)

You're better off with a ham hock or a bacon ribs. Much better suited to the long low stewing, and will fall apart (unlike Fento).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,088 ✭✭✭✭BonnieSituation

A new one coming out the last day or so is how they "didn't try" last year and we're keeping the powder dry for the Championship.

The mind is boggled at this. Do they know who they're playing?

But you can't long stew a coddle. For the non brain damaged coddle fancier, it's only sossies, schpuds, onions and your porcine product of choice. If you long stew it, won't it turn into wall paper paste?

I'm getting chicken kahari from the Bombay Pantry tonight.
Yis can have your coddle and ambrosia creamed rice.

SENIOR FOOTBALLERS MAKE FOUR CHANGES FOR LEAGUE DECIDER
    SAT, 8TH APRIL 2017
The Dublin team to face Kerry in Sunday's NFL Division 1 final at Croke Park (4.0) shows four changes from the side that defeated Monaghan last weekend.

Darren Daly comes into the defence at left full-back with Cian O'Sullivan at centre-back.

The other alterations are in the Dublin attack with Diarmuid Connolly and Bernard Brogan adding experience, physicality and firepower to the forward division.

The four players not starting who began against the Farney County are David Byrne, Kevin McManamon, Niall Scully and Conor McHugh.

Nine of Sunday's starters began in the drawn encounter (0-13 each) when the counties played their league regulation game in Tralee on St Patrick's weekend - Stephen Cluxton, Darren Daly, Philly McMahon, Michael Fitzsimons, Eric Lowndes, Brian Fenton, Ciaran Kilkenny, Dean Rock and Paddy Andrews.

Ten of Sunday's starting 15 for the Kingdom lined out at the start that night - Brendan Kealy, Mark Griffin, Ronan Shanahan, Peter Crowley, Tadhg Crowley, David Moran, Paul Murphy, Donnchadh Walsh, Paul Geaney and Kevin McCarthy.

Reddin may be assigned to stick with /disrupt Moran with Fenton left free. Of course Kerry will have their plans for Fenton.

Interesting to see if Kerry try to evolve their tralee tactics to stop Dublin movement and speed but without giving away so many scoreable frees. But really the two things are mutually exclusive. You can't pull and drag players down inside the 40 without giving away frees.

I think this will be a tetchy game again tommorow. Lots of off the ball stuff.

No doubt they will. We trust that other chaps will take immediate and swift action if that is so.

Remind them that this is not 1955.

Well. they may forget about your man from Roscommon as regards protection. Especially Dermie.

Don't need the ref. just go out and do them again.

:D I actually meant football plans - who'd pick him up, mark him closely etc.

But they can try the ruff stuff. Fento won't be found wanting - as per tralee.

If they do play the same way its important we beat them. It can't be easy dealing with the doubt created by everything you try not being good enough. Certainly i felt a few of them were kind of accepting of defeat against Dublin in the championship last year. Good to keep the pressure on.

Regarding Fenton, I was more than a bit surprised that Kerry revealed their cards, in such spectacular fashion, down in Tralee. I would have thought that they would rather let him go about his business unmolested, in a relatively meaningless game in March & hand us the win on a platter, if it meant unleashing the dogs of war on him in September, takes him and us by surprise. Now that they have made their move, he and Jim Gavin will know to be on their guard and will come up with a Plan B to counteract it. If his marker gets a black/red/2 yellows cards tomorrow, there is every chance I will need one of those nappies that nursing homes use, I'll be laughing so hard.

Exactly, TBH just let whatever happens happens. I'm not that comfortable with some of the football talking going around.

I expect teams at this level to do what they have to do including the Dubs

Disagree. Hock requires a long cooking time and coddle doesn't. It's not a stew per se. You don't boil the bollox out of a coddle. An hour will suffice.

Fillet is ideal for an hour approx.

It is peculiar atmosphere approaching this game.

On one hand it is "just" league final.

In reality this is the final settling of score. We beat them tomorrow and it is existential death for them. No less!

All the shameful hidings in the past, all the "oh sure the Dubs are grand."

Oh no. This is it. Bury the fkers.
