Lads, anyone here familiar with Carpro fixer?

I have a silver car that's in rather decent condition. I don't want to compound it. There's very light swirls.

Just wondering if one can use the fixer with a soft pad? White hexlogic? And if so, will it finish? There feels like a fair bit of abrasives in this compound.

Come on Curran rescue me! I bought it from your brother but wasn't listening to a word he said!!

Here is a chart with a good range of pads that explains what the different color pads are for :-)

Jaysus that's a handy one galwaydude, thanks for that. I'll save that one.

I'm more curious about the carpro fixer, and would like to know if anyone has used it with a soft pad?

I'm putting an order into detailingshed one of the days. Need iron remover (korrosol), a polish of some description and a wax/sealant.. maybe a claybar, depends on funds!!

Is petrol ok to use to detar, few people recently said no....

Silver vw and a black ford to do. I'm after something that will make the paint pop (a wet kind of look) and have good lasting. Something that won't break the bank either!

If anything ticks those boxes I'll fire them into my basket.

I wouldn't go near petrol. Buy some Tar-X and never look back!

    Fixer is decent stuff OP.
I have used it before, found it worked pretty well especially on the hex green pad.It finishes down good as well and if your paint is in pretty decent condition I would say go ahead.
After all, you have nothing to lose. It won't damage the paint.
What car is it by the way?

    Thanks Vectra for the advice.

The car is a silver Mercedes. If I manage to fit it in today I'll let you know how I get on

Do you have a green hex pad?
I am sssuming you are using a DA?

CarPro only has 2 polishes in it's line up. Fixer and Reflect. The latter being the finishing polish. To change the cutting ability of Fixer you just change the pad accordingly. Heach pad if you want to do heavy correction, light cutting pad if you want to do light polishing.

Thanks for the help lads regarding carpro fixer.

Great bit of stuff altogether. My green pads have seen better days and the merc paint was diamond hard, so i used a heavy yellow hexlogic pad and went to work.

The fixer finished down lovely, if i had the time i reckon I could have done a lot more correction with this combo.

Finished with soft99 King of Gloss.

Rubbish pictures but I'm stuck on room and lighting at the moment

Prep is the key - anything applied afterwards will ensure the paintwork is protected and enhanced.

Tough to recommend something that will make both colours pop. You'll get more benefit from choosing something to make the black pop...so you should consider a wax - ODK Glamour / Empire would be worth looking at.

    Cheers, what about a polish?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,377 ✭✭✭Curran

    By hand or machine

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,845 ✭✭✭Noccy_Mondy

    Hand

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,377 ✭✭✭Curran

With hand polish its often best to combo the wax/sealant with the polish, as they are designed to work together. Chemical Guys VSS Scratch & Swirl Remover is decent, but as you know you wont get anything but very very light correction; more adding a bit of depth and gloss, while filling some swirls.
KKD ReGloss is another option, if you were looking for a glaze with good filling ability.

I was browsing one of my preferred online detailing stores here and came across a big selection of Gyeon and Liquid Elements products whom I had never heard of.

Gyeon is a bit more well known it seems and well received, with Liquid Elements seemingly more popular here. Anyone here used the products before?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,377 ✭✭✭Curran

Gyeon is a range Id like to try, but apparently Ireland is considered to be in the UK region and they have reached their limit of resellers in the region.
Liquid Elements, I have used some of their products; mostly the microfiber products and quality is very good.

    Thanks Curran.

Ordered some of the LE polishing pads and various bits today, the prices are quite reasonable too I must say. Ordered some APS Pro Vertex pads too, only found limited stuff from lads in Germany but quality is meant to be good.

Instead of getting my DAS6 shipped over to me from my parents Im thinking of just getting this https://www.autopflege-shop.de/liquid-elements-t3000-v2-exzenter-poliermaschine-10mm.html

Liquid Elements also have a ceramic coating that I am tempted to try once I get sorted here. A colleague at work over in France has 2 double garages and a courtyard and has offered me a spare key to access them when I want. Its a half hour drive away but I am only too happy to accept!

That was an interesting test. Who is qualified to apply crystal serum in Ireland?

None in the Republic, it's being worked on though ;) CSL and EXO is as close as you'll get until there's one here!

How long should it last once it has been applied?

Crystal Serum and EXO together have a 7 year "Guarantee" and Crystal Serum Light and EXO has a 5 year "Guarantee". I'm fairly sure these guarantee's only come into play once applied by an accredited detailer. My own experience is great, I redid my car after having it on 10 months and the beading and sheeting was almost like it was when I first did it! Only reason I redid it is because I wasn't happy with my prep!

Would that be the ECO shield?
I was toying between this and CQUK when I did ther passat.
I ended up going for the CQUK as it was available here.
But I was following positive reviews about the LE product as well and was pretty tempted by it.
