Yea, in hindsight, I over extended myself. I was also raided on the coast by those human / chaos guys to the north west of the Empire who were most unexpected. They razed two full provinces before I could get a couple of stacks south to smash them and reclaim everything. Then of course, the three huge chaos armies that rampaged through the vampires turned towards me and now has their boot on my throat. Good learning experience in paying proper attention to the map!

Yeah I had left my south coast completely unguarded thinking the threat was only coming from the north now the Orcs were wiped. and a boat showed up with 2 or three full stacks of those guys who raised an entire province and would have got two if the other wasn't so highly upgraded.

The Warhammer series was always meant to be a set of 3 games, so this isn't surprising.

    From Steam
Shortly after launch, owners of both the original game and Total War™ WARHAMMER II will gain access to the colossal new combined campaign. Merging the landmasses of The Old World plus Naggaroth, Lustria, Ulthuan and the Southlands into a single epic map, players may embark on monumental campaigns as any owned Race from both titles.

I know it's what they originally promised but still sounds epic!

Skaven in the old world. :D

Assuming this means they'll be continuing to support, update and even add content to the first game even when the third is released.

Given the teaser from the end of the trailer and the write up on steam

    http://store.steampowered.com/app/594570/
Powerful forces move to heal the maelstrom and avert catastrophe. Yet others seek to harness its terrible energies for their own bitter purpose. The race is on, and the very fate of the world will lie in the hands of the victor.

Prince Tyrion, Defender of Ulthuan, guides the High Elves in their desperate efforts to stabilise the vortex as it roils above their home continent.

Atop his palanquin-throne, the Slann Mage-Priest Mazdamundi directs his Lizardmen war-hosts as they surge northward from Lustria. He, too, is intent on preventing cataclysm, though the methods of The Old Ones must prevail.

The Witch King Malekith and his sadistic Dark Elf hordes spew forth from Naggaroth and their labyrinthine Black Arks. He tastes great weakness in the vortex – and great opportunity in its demise.

Meanwhile a fourth, secretive race stirs, their motives obscured by sinister plots and machinations. The time for revelation is nigh…

Four races, four outcomes, a single goal: control of the Great Vortex, for good or ill.

    Pretty sure that's Skaven confirmed

Southlands mentioned as a location as well so possible Tomb Kings DLC at some point. Maybe they'll be the pre-order faction.

I didn't know about that super campaign thing, but it does indeed sound epic!

There's an interview with CA people on Eurogamer.

Are they not just following the End Times storyline?

They'd have to having the Southlands is a lot of empty space if they didn't do something. They didn't mention Araby but maybe they'll include as part of the Southlands.

Lot of space in the old world for no one.

Might be like empire where you had the separate maps connected at points rather than a single maps.

Fine. I get it. I had to ask. Can we talk about the setting instead? So, the Vortex shown in the trailer is above Ulthuan, right? Then given the other two races you've confirmed, it'll be Lustria and Naggaroth too?

IR: That's right. There's also an area called the Southlands.

    Who lives there?

AB: We're not ready to talk about that yet.

    Woot! Can't wait for this.

I'm really hoping then for a WWI type game.

well, they are working on a new historical TW title, but there are almost no details on it other than it's in development.

Can't see another game being anywhere near, they've just released the Halo wars 2, it's not been that long since Warhammer and now the to use an old Relic term they've also the new "expandalone" game in warhammer 2

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,653 ✭✭✭Mr Crispy

The next historical title is definitely being worked on, but we're looking at 2018 I'd guess. I wouldn't be hugely opposed to Medieval III.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,752 ✭✭✭pablomakaveli

They've already said the next historical title will be set in a period they havent done before. So no Medieval 3 I'm afraid.

I can imagine them setting it in ancient China. Its a very interesting period they havent covered yet and sense they are working on so many projects it would make sense to downscale from a world map to just a country again like shogun. Maybe the warring states period.

Apparently CA now have a dedicated team looking at making new content for the older historical total wars.
So new expansion for Rome 2 or Attila probably.

    Maybe they'll do a mediaeval 2 remaster.:D

Well previous historical releases have lead onto Great Leader based sequels - which really should have been dlc!!

I'm thinking Empire into Napoleon and Rome 2 into Attila (Rome 1 had Alexander but that was dlc). With that precedent I'm going to guess China as the next historical game, which will be a buggy mess, but Genghis will be great.

Edit : just to add I'd love an early colonial era Africa game, if only for the Shaka sequel and recreating Rorkes drift and the Boer War.

Rourke's Drift Horde mode! Holy **** that'd be epic! :)

Well the red eyed rat at the end seems a give away TBH :P

I wonder if there is any chance of them getting rid of Warscape and building a new engine.

it may not be, they didn't show the race itself - just hinted majorly at it - but i'd be surprised if it wasn't one of the starting races given the write up it has on steam.
Tomb Kings are a possibility too

Fair enough. I'm playing Empire at the moment and the hand-to-hand is utterly abysmal.

Doubt we'll see tomb kings in game 2.
Would need to open up a new section of map which I don't see them doing for DLC.
Probably be one of the core factions in game 3.
