Need Seadna in there for the bit of pace. Our backs aren't exactly blessed with speed

We have major problems in the backs, the main reason the sweeper system was deployed in the first place was to try to nullify Joe Canning in 2013

    CLARE 1-24
    WATERFORD 0-9

Great win for the minors, I was unable to make the match, but it would super to have a good young minor team to follow into the summer. Hopefully they can push on. New management as well which is also good.

That's some win, fair play to the lads. I heard earlier that the Under 21s lost a challenge to Offaly last night, they had all the senior lads as well as the full panel.

That's some result for the minors. Great stuff. Hopefully they get a few more games so they get to develop together.

Missing one of the key players in cathal ruane too

Yeah, win the next game, and they are guaranteed 2 more games. An Ulster team awaits for the Munster team in the AI QF's so there's probably a long summer of hurling for the lads if they can win the next game either which way. It would be good for their development.

Don't think Waterford are that strong at this level this year great win but really need to get past the semis this year .it must be 3 or 4 year's atleast since our last Munster final

Does anyone know if Clare/Limerick game in Munster football championship is on 27th or 28th of May?

I'm almost positive it's being played on the Saturday evening but the Munster website doesn't have it down for definite yet.

i know cork are putting a nice team together but the 26 points conceeded highlight our problems at the back still. i know its a challenge but we need to be a bit more consertive even in these type of games

Good to see Pat O'Connor (playing full back), Shane O'Donnell and Conor McGrath back. Deasy started wing forward and took the frees, though I'd still regard it as unlikely for him to start against Limerick, given that he wasn't given any league time to settle at intercounty level. Like that David McInerney played in the half back line also, I'm hoping POC's return means he plays there for the season.

If Clare beat Limerick and lose to either Cork/Kerry in the Munster final do they move on to the All-Ireland series? It's a bit mad that Cork are playing Kerry in the other semi with one of them being knocked out of the championship after both had very convincing wins in the first round

We have major problems in the backs,

we have played 4 munster league games I think 6 league games and including Saturday nights challenge that's 11 games and afaik we have conceded less than a goal a game as far as I can recall without playing a sweeper.
our defence is fine, the issue is that we have some shadow tackler players further out.

If everyone carried their load aggressively we would be a dangerous proposition

Yes losers of provincial finals go into last 8. Only in Leinster and Munster minor championships some teams get second chance. You could have s scernario in a quarter final where a unbeaten provincial winner could be facing a team thats lost 2 championship games in a knockout game

Senior and Intermediate championship starts this weekend. 16 matches across the 2 competitions so great weekends hurling in store hopefully.

I am overjoyed with delight. For the first time since 1994, Clare have qualified for the Munster Minor Football Championship Final after beating Limerick 3-13 to 0-12. Limerick only scored 2 points in the 2nd half. What a huge night for Clare football and hopefully we will see these lads play Croke Park sometime in August. Congrats to both players and management. Hon the Banner!!!!!

sixmilebridge far too strong for a depleated clarecastle side , big shock in tulla though as 7/1 outsiders whitegate hit cratloe with a late 4th goal in injury time to send the men in blue into the losers round

That's some shock. Another pretty interesting losers group shaping up again this year.

Hopefully Eire Og don't slip up against the mills tomorrow. We should win by a few points but don't think we are as good this year as last.

i expect them to win comfortably too , was dissapointed with them last year after the ballyea win that they didnt really kick on but then again the championship dose tighten up alot as you get to the last 8 but they have the all the equipment to chalenge for the cannon but its going to be another really tough championship to win this year

wouldnt be overly surprised if ballyea lost tommorow too , wolfe tones have the fire power up front to cause them problems , often is the case a team has an off year after the year ballyea have had

3rd game very intresting too tomorrow , tulla should beat the parrish but anything could happen in that one , just depends on if barefield are just happy to be back where they belong or do they plan on laying down a marker for the year

Any date/time for the Clare v Limerick football senior game yet? If they put it on the Saturday evening it will clash with the Pro 12 Rugby Final in Lansdowne Rd. Munster could be in it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,519 ✭✭✭windy shepard henderson

ballyea into the winners round after a comfortable enough win in the end over wolfe tones , tony kelly goal with ten minutes remaining the decisive score in what was an even game up to that point

Did Niall Deasy play for Ballyea, heard he was carrying an injury?
