Some harsh comments on here Re: Sarah. Personally I think she's pretty good. She isn't afraid to grill interviewees and seems well-informed. Chris is and had always been a bit of a nerd but he's grown on me. I still switch between this and Matt Cooper. The main thing is that I no longer have to endure that insufferable, self-obsessed bore George Hook on the way home!

IMO she interrupts far too often. She was interviewing someone the other day and he said, 'if you're going to ask me a question you have to let me answer it in more than a couple of words before you interrupt me again'. I think he wanted to finish it with, 'ya cnut', but he was too polite for that :)

Chris is and had always been a bit of a nerd but he's grown on me.

I have to completely disagree with this, Chris is way too stupid to ever approach nerd status.

Terrible show. Took the biscuit today when they played the viral video of the Korean BBC report today and described it on the radio. Jesus wept.

Ray D'Arcy described it as well, even though he got most of the factual stuff wrong and then he basically said you could only really enjoy it if you were a parent.
Chris and Sarah mightn't be to everybody's taste but they're a veritable Woodward and Bernstein compared to D'Arcy.

Clap trap. I've heard her getting ripped apart by FG td's when a FG td is running circles around you it's time to find a different vocation. She's brutally misinformed on almost every topic she tackles. You're mistaken her "aggressive" approach as informed.

Pretty insulting to nerds. He's a giggling man-child and far from a nerd.

Aodhan O'Riardán has some cheek. He has no mandate to call for anything on behalf of the Irish people. Enda is our representative over there, Aodhan, thank you very much.

Nah, that was the charm of Georgie Hook. I am convinced that was an act, even during his rugby days on RTE.

Whatever about him , his show was always interesting

You had the Tea Party fella out to annoy everyone, especially when you were in agreement with him

You had Tuesday Travel , first with ..forget his name but he use to have a show himself on the station about Culture and then it got sleezy, I think his main occupation is travel critic. Then the Irish speaking lad was very good (ran for elections in Westmeath)

The Technology show was good for a while until you got bored of mobile phones, camera phones and printers.

Bill Hughes section was always a high light

Back in the day Jim Gibbons was great when they brought people in on a Friday. Never liked that celebrity doctor.

The comic duo was the film review .

Sorry, poorly written. Comic Duo being George and Phillip. Nice radio. George never got on as a special guest on Phillip's excellent film show, to tell us about his favorite war films

Ah yes, Fionn Davinport. Sleaze after dark. Once a good show then got sleazy when all that S.E.X. talk . Off the Ball lads had a nickname for his show when it went that direction. Anyone remember ?

Ah, he was very good, first memory of him doing a show on his own was lunchtime around Christmas 2012 ish when he was filling in for Sean (I think)

    Where is he now ?

Hook wasnt bad, a bit too old fashioned at times, but in a granddad kind of way, i loved it, but I reckon his slightly right wing views stuck in the craw of too many liberal left whingers for newstalks liking.

Is Henry McKean travelling across the nation and now overseas for 10 mins of this ****e on Drivetime?

He definitely has the dirt on somebody.

"Some people are drinking cider. Others are drinking lager"

    That was an actual quote.

Chris questioning Enda Kenny, how was Chris so excited to bring us that crap? He's completely clueless.

Sarah McInerney, trying to pronounce "eccentricity", comes out with "eegcentricity"...just after having said she wasn't going to try and pronounce it!

I would be willing to give most current affairs presenters a chance but I have seen no improvement in Sarah since she started. Her current interview with James Reilly, she is just resorting to shouting and seems to have a poor grasp of the topic.

Yesterday she was interviewing a spokesman from the coastguard re the 116 tragedy. No matter how many times he told her, she just could not seem to understand that the coastguard had nothing to do with investigating the cause of the accident, recovering the black box etc.

They've just had Ger Gilroy on to talk about Off The Ball and their coverage of Ireland-Wales. Giles will be on after 7, John Hartson will be on later, and they will have the game live tomorrow.

So what do they have on Drive now? Stephen Hunt on to talk about Ireland-Wales.

I don't think the show is too bad, but it's overly long and bloated, as Donie is saying where's the logic in them covering sport when there is a THREE HOUR sport show following it.

I tend to listen to Newstalk intermittently - I always enjoy Moncrieff and like Sarah and Chris. There are far to many ads on the station. When the news goes into sport section or weather there are ads between them, and even now they will have an ad before the ad between the different news sections. I find them very annoying and will not buy any product that has obnoxious ads.

Have ads gotten worse lately? I used to listen to NT all day long, but between the nonsense of some of the current shows (primarily breakfast & George) and the constant, constant annoying ads for cars/health insurance/cancer/heat retaining windows etc I just find it better to just turn the f*ckin thing off most of the time now.

I was fine with Chris a presenter until one of you mentioned the heavy pronunciation of his T's.. Now that is all I can hear.
    Thanks guys :-(

Fair play to Niamh Horan/Lyons for going against the conformist feminist narrative. Sarah seemed shocked that a woman might hold a contrary opinion to her. These outraged feminists are perfectly happy to attack Trump/Boris Johnson etc. for their appearance, but when it's a woman it's suddenly 'objectifying women'.

Well done for missing the point. If you want one of the most significant political decisions in UK to be reduced to discussion about legs, then I just hope majority of people are not as dumb. But yeah I guess it's just points to intellectual depth of Brexit supporting media. Who cares what Scotland does as long as we can drool over some legs.

You really don't think the paper discussed the content of the meeting? The mail was basically trolling, hoping to get a reaction from the super-offended brigade (which you seem to be a fully paid up member). It's more publicity for them. And are you consistent? Are you as offended by newspapers and columnists commenting on Donald Trump's appearance?

If the appearance would be discussed on the front page instead of the issue then I would find it equally dumb. This it's not anti women it's anti intellectual, it panders to people who vote for someone on basis of appearance and not because of what they are saying.

I very well known why Daily Mail did it. It has intellectual depth of Big Brother. It doesn't insult me as a woman (I like to dress up and I like to receive compliments) it insults me as reasonably intelligent person. I have no problem with fashion pages discussing May's shoes I have very much a problem with front page discussing form instead of substance.

Yeh but who takes that comic seriously....was very anti Irish until recently enough, pro fascist in the thirties and flogs whatever mean spirited hysteria they can pass of to its readers as being semi respectable...sort of sums them up as well.As for all these brigades ...Its well known in GB as being the favourite of the blue rinse brigade and fellow tribes of little Englanders....along with The Daily Mail.At least with The Sun/Star its all up front.
